We had a fabulous tour around Athens with Eleni, we saw so much that we would otherwise have missed. She was friendly and easy to chat with, and her knowledge of the area was amazing. The walk was over about 3 hours but it was guided by our pace. We seemed to fit in a lot of places and the views were fabulous. I would recommend this to anyone with basic fitness levels, as there were some inclines. A very enjoyable walk, many thanks Eleni. Debbie, Graham and Luke xAthens, the bits you might miss.

A couple of hiccups finding the place to meet since the pen in the event was different than where she wanted to meet. But we got there. Eleni did a great job was very patient. The tour was a great way to walk through Athens and see some sites efficiently. It was a super hot day sometimes a little difficult to understand Eleni, but she tried hard and it was informative.Great way to see a quick Athens

Dionysis was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable…he spent 3 hours showing us sites, giving us a history lesson and making recommendations for the rest of our time in Athens. He even bought us some of his favorite street food to try! Highly recommend!!

My sister and I took Eleni's Athens' Hidden Gems & Best Views tour our first morning in Athens. It was a perfect first introduction to Athens and Eleni was a wonderful guide. She modified the tour to start at the square near where we were staying. Eleni chatted easily with us, answering our questions and sharing her insights about the historical background of what we were seeing and the current social and political environment. Her pacing and the tour route were comfortable. We saw neighborhoods that big tours don't get into. I would not hesitate to recommend her and any of her tours. A truly wonderful day with Eleni.

Eleni sent me a message a week or two before saying she could not do our tour, but she would send a friend. He turned up about 15 minutes late and was very tired. He covered the essentials but was not nearly as good as we had expected from Eleni. I expect it would have been better for to have canceled the tour and we could have signed up with an official withlocals.com person. Of course, we did not know.She sent someone else

Eleni gave us a well planned introduction to important parts of Athens, with emphasis on the special history of Athens accompanied by many observations regarding everyday life past and present, and we discussed the social and economic status of Greece anno 2017. We were presented to several cafés and restaurants that we would never have found ourselves, we tasted cold coffee for the first time, and we had a delicate and very inexpensive lunch at a special restaurant close to the meat and fish market! On top of that, Eleni spent much more that the planned 3 hours with us - great thanks to her, and we will definitely use Withlocals again when we visit at new city. I booked this a few weeks ago and asked for a private guided tour of Athens. I didn’t save my email text request but wanted a tour of the acropolis and places where Paul preached. I apparently chose the wrong tour which I found out toward the end…the guide was nice & knowledgeable of the areas we were shown, but I would not have chosen this tour had I known what it did not include. I think that the tour should have made it clear that we were NOT seeing any of the acropolis or where Paul preached. It should be in bold red letters on the website. The price I paid was not worth the money for this tour. I was very disappointed. We ended up walking to the entrance and doing the acropolis tour on our own along with the spot where Paul preached. Eleni has a depth of knowledge about the city from her familial roots in Athens and her deep studies and research as an archaeologist. We learned about so much more than food. Speaking of, the food tour took us to over 5 places where we must have tried over 10 dishes and sweet treats. Her energy is very calming and she knows all the best spots for each dish. You can find almost any dish in any of the Greek restaurants and bakeries, but Eleni knew where to find the long-standing locals joints and led us through several beautiful neighborhoods. Eleni lead my family, including 2 18 year olds and 2 16 year olds to see important and interesting places in the areas around the Acropolis and the plaka. She was knowledgeable and interesting and kept the whole group listening and going even after a very long day. At the end, she found us a couple of restaurants that might work and we ended our evening with a great dinner. I highly recommend touring with Eleni. Overall the tour itself was just okay- a bit disappointing, actually. We were so excited about this tour and were really looking forward to the personalized and more intimate experience of hiring a tour guide from withlocals. I sent a message a month in advance to let our guide know a bit about us and our goals/interests for the tour and never heard back. I reached out again a couple days in advance through the website and finally heard back. However, when we were on the tour, it really didn’t seem like our guide read anything I wrote. The tour wasn’t personalized at all and honestly it lacked energy and enthusiasm. The time spent walking between locations was in silence whereas most tours I’ve been a part of the guide takes that time to tell stories or preface us with information for the next location we will be seeing. I will say, we definitely learned a lot about architecture and a little bit about the history of Athens and Athens’ occupiers which was so fascinating and I would have loved to learn more. I love history and hearing stories about past events, sadly, what history we did learn was spotty and disjointed which made it hard to put the pieces together. We enjoyed getting some lemonade near the foot of the Acropolis and hearing a bit more about our guide’s life and some details on modern Athens. I really don’t mean to be too harsh because our guide was a kind person but the tour wasn’t at all what we were expecting based on the descriptions on the website and the price.Athens Hidden Gems Tour
