We liked our time with Laura. She was punctual and pleasant. We appreciated her flexibility during the planning stage and she was quick to respond and suggest tweaks to the plan. The actual “tour” was ok - she provided high level overview of various Gaudí buildings however the depth was lacking - we had higher expectations given her architectural background however she only provided very high level information which was somewhat disappointing. Overall if you are looking for a nice walk through Barcelona and high level overview of Gaudí and his creations Laura works be a good choice. If you are looking for an in depth dive into the architecture and architect - looks elsewhere. Good high level overview of Gaudi and city

Our group of six 60-something Americans wanted a personal tour focusing on Gaudi architecture in Barcelona. I selected Laura as our tour guide because she is an architect herself. She was amazing! She was able to customize our tour swapping out La Sagrada Familia (which we toured the day before with another group) for Park Guell, which is a not miss if you’re ever in Barcelona. I can’t recommend Laura enough. She is very personable. Her English is excellent. My mother and I loved our time with Laura. My mother cannot walk long distances and so Laura had a great plan for us to make 2 stops instead of three. We had delicious tapas, and so many to sample, at the first stop and then desserts at the second stop. We were able to stop for a rest and a bathroom along the way. We asked many questions about her family and the local culture and she was open in her conversations with us. She was our favorite guide in Barcelona. Laura is a wonderful guide and is very responsive. I was concerned that one of our other tours would overlap with Laura's since they would be taking place in the Gothic Quarter and Old Town. She offered us several alternatives to tailor our tour. In the end, there was very little overlap. The tour itself was better than we expected, not only did Laura share some hidden gems but she was also very knowledgable regarding the architectural history of buildings. We were able to move at our own pace and ask about recommendations for places to eat and shop. We would definitely recommend this tour and Laura for first time visitors.Wonderful guide

Sometimes when you book a tour months in advance, things are a bit different the day of the actual tour. That's when it pays to have a true local as a guide. Laura did an excellent job adjusting on the fly to holidays that caused many things to be closed at the last minute. With a bit of flexibility, her deep local knowledge, and a commitment to showing us the best of Barcelona, we had a great time in spite of diverting from the original plan. And we made up for missed tastings on another tour we had with Laura, so all is well! A great workaround for our tour

We started our tour in a quiet, non-tourist neighborhood where we sampled pintxos - one or two-bite treats atop bread. They were delightful! After a nice walk and some discussion of local architecture we stopped for tapas and vermouth. Laura ordered an incredible selection of tapas including Russian salad, octopus, croquettes, a baked cod spread, cheese, and bread. It was all excellent and very filling! For our final stop, we waddled to sample churros with hot chocolate - the perfect ending to our afternoon! Throughout our day Laura provided excellent information about the food and the neighborhoods and city providing a delightful, expert experience.Awesome local specialties

The Hidden Gems tour with Laura was the perfect way to begin our stay in Barcelona. We have traveled around the world and this was our tenth WithLocal Experience. Laura should not be a WithLocal. We did a "Drinks & Bites" tour with her in the evening to. She is actually not a foodie, but an architect, who does this to make extra money, and she was not really a social person and had very little to say. It was like being on a date you can't wait to end. First of all, the way the tastings work is that the the tour guide collects the cost of your your trip and then pays WithLocals, 20-30 %. Of what is remaining, the Local, Laura in this case, collects your tour cost. She is then tasked with buying you (3) tastings on this "Drinks & Bites" trip. HOWEVER, the less she spends on your tastings, the MORE she makes. On the first tasting, we each had a drink. The wine was 2 Euro and the Beer was 1 Euro. She chose them, clearly, She then purchased a plate of french bread (1.95 Euro total for 5 of us) and a plate of manchego cheese. She did not ask (to begin with) if we had any preferences or preferences, and she was not super friendly, didn't say a word to my three teenagers, asked no questions and was sort of rude, in an eye-roll way. On the second two tastings, we were given a drink at each stop and one small slice of a french baguette with a topping of our choice. A Pinxtos. Value 1.50 euro each. That's it, that's the whole tour. 3 stops, 3 drinks and a few slices of french baguette. She made no reservations. Coincidentally, the WithLocal we went out with the next day, knows her and tells us, "That's her style". To wing it. Unfortunately, you can't "wing it" when you go to local pinxtos stops during after "After work rush" without reservations. She told us they take no "reservations", however there were tables all over the place with "Reservados" signs. Clearly, what she told us was untrue. What ended up happening is that we didn't really visit "local" spots because, guess what, they were full! Instead, we went inside to places where nobody was , while we skipped all the crowded "Local spots" which quite honestly, is the point of the trip. In the end, we paid 40Euro each and ate/drank for 10Euro each, max. This model, doesn't really incent the "Local" to feed you well, because again, the less they spend, the more they make. Save your money.Not a Quality Experience.
