Our family had an amazing walking tour of Amsterdam with Tommi. His knowledge and detail about the sites in the center of Amsterdam, as well as in the surrounding areas, were simply incredible. Tommi accommodated our special requests into his tour and we ventured out via metro, team and bus to cover some of the lesser known areas. I am a well seasoned traveler and Tommi was hands down the best city guide I’ve ever had. Tommi is so knowledgeable about the city and you can tell he really loves what he does. He was able to tell us about architecture, history, culture, food, and gave us really great tips for our time in Amsterdam. We were able to see some of the popular sites, hidden gems that we would have not otherwise noticed, and also experienced less touristy neighborhoods where locals live. His tour really enhanced my understanding of the city and gave amazing context for the rest of my stay. At first I was skeptical of the cost because it is more than I usually spend on a tour. We had a lovely day out around Amsterdam with Olga. She had planned out a logical tour using our hotel as the starting point and altered her pace to suit us. We spent a morning with Kawika on a World War II walking tour of Amsterdam, and it ended up being so much more than just a history lesson. While he covered the WWII material thoroughly and thoughtfully, he also wove in broader context about the city and the people. Kawika made an effort to get to know our family—what we’d seen so far, what we were curious about and shaped the experience to fit us perfectly. Rather than delivering a scripted tour, he made it conversational, responding to our questions and observations as we went. It felt organic, not rehearsed. He’s warm, personable, and so knowledgeable, never overwhelming. We truly enjoyed spending the morning with him. My father and I had already spent several days in Amsterdam doing most of the touristy stuff (museums, canal tour, etc) and to have a local like Olga share her expertise and knowledge helped elevate our time here. I had so much fun on this windmill and that factory cheese tour with Olga. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I got to see the windmills and learn all about their history. I got to visit at Judge cheese factory and try all the different types of cheeses they had. I also got to see how wooden Dutch shoes are made (very cool). She was so polite by holding my bags when I wanted to take pictures, waiting for me to pick out souvenirs, waiting for me to enjoy some ice cream, and etc.. I almost twisted my ankle while walking with her and she literally stopped me from falling on the ground. She was also nice enough to offer to pick me up from my hotel versus me having to pay a taxi. I strongly recommend this tour as a way in to the city. And give Olga my highest recommendation as guide. She was very knowledgeable, professional, with a good sense of humor and timing, and lots of fascinating tidbits about the city. History aspect of the tour was great, Olga showed us a lot of cool things we wouldn't have known about. Her personality was unapproachable though. She was quite dismissive if we asked questions, kinda giving us a "duh" answer when we asked everyday life questions. Robotic with her story telling. We enjoyed a day with Tommie as our guide in Amsterdam. He was personable and thoughtful and simply full of many aspects of the city. Architectural insights, city history, commentary on events, holiday traditions, good restaurants, and an amazing list of hidden gems, ie special insights that he has observed over the years. He is fluent in 6-7 languages and is a very competent piano player. He made it clear to us up front that he was a high functioning person with asbergers. We only had one day to spend in Amsterdam so we thought the best way to get the most out of our visit was with a walking tour. Olga met us right at the designated time and gave us a wonder tour of the various parts of the city, telling us about the history and the landmarks. It did not feel rushed, Olga was very thorough and knowledgeable and a fantastic story teller. She even pointed out some of her favorite eateries, of which we tried one after the tour was ended.
