Ines was terrific! She has an easy-going manner and a sense of humor. We learned so much about the Portuguese culture, history, and architecture while she was navigating us through the winding streets to interesting neighborhoods that we would not have found on our own. She shared book recommendations, her favorite restaurants, tucked-away shopping boutiques and suggestions on how to further explore Lisbon and other areas of Portugal. W really enjoyed our walking tour with Joao. He did a nice job of talking about the history of the Jews in Portugal as we toured through many of the beautiful neighborhoods in Lisbon. Joao is amazing. So kind and thoughtful and interesting! He knew such a wide range of history and fun facts about Lisbon, and especially the Jewish community that left us thinking and wondering more! He did a great job pointing out tips of places to go and ways to make the city more accessible (hidden elevators, escalators, etc.) and he was awesome to send us a detailed list of many more recomendations and followed up on the various things we spoke about. He was able to make the tour interesting for our 10 year old daughter and also was sensitive to the heat that day, and kept looking for spots with shade where we could talk comfortably. Definitely book your tour with Joao - you won't be disappointed!Amazing tour!

João is an excellent guide. He shared his historical knowledge of the city and the country with us. He gave us his personal insights and understanding of the Jewish heritage in Lisbon. He took us to the modern memorial stone. There isn't much left behind of 300 years of Jewish presence due to the destruction caused by the earthquake. It wiped out more than half the city. He was sensitive to the fact we weren't used to walking the steep hills of this beautiful city. He took us to see some amazing views. Finally he showed us a great place to eat dinner. Given João’s reviews, our expectations were pretty high, and he did not disappoint. João was relaxed and a pleasure to be with. He was eager to share his deep knowledge of Lisbon’s history and to also give us a sense of her as a modern, living city. We especially enjoyed his tour of the Mouraria which we likely would not have otherwise seen. After the tour, João went above and beyond, sending me a list of places and restaurants we might want to explore on our own. All this and his spoken English was excellent!!Exceeded expectations!

My husband and I were traveling through Portugal ending our trip in Lisbon. We decided to take a tour of the city to learn more about it. We looked at several other tour companies and tour guides and chose to go with João, and we felt like we hit the jackpot the moment João began our tour! João was not only very knowledgeable about the city of Lisbon in general but also about the history of Portugal and Lisbon as it portrayed to us and our questions and interests. He led us through lovely neighborhoods, leading up to beautiful vistas, overlooking the city, explaining to us about the different governments and policies that have shaped Portugal to become what it is today. Ricardo led us on a jewish walking tour of Lisbon...while there is not that much to see, he was knowledgeable, warm and his english is great. He even picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the first stop, which was very helpful as my husband is not a great walker. And then he drove us back to our hotel...again very helpful. I would hire Ricardo again. He was a delight to be with and taught us a lot about Lisbon.Ricardo went above and beyond!

Peter was a delightful guide through the areas that were previously Jewish areas. He was extremely knowledgeable and brought pictures to help illustrate what he was explaining. I sadly cannot recommend this tour. We had some meats and cheese (unidentified to us the kinds), chorizo, ginjinha, pastel de nata. Nothing was personalized, I asked about shrimp and it was not accommodated. Not as advertised. Better off booking a normal tour for half the cost! Not worth cost

What a great time we had tour Lisbon with Joao! He was thorough and patient as he took us through all of the neighborhoods of downtown Lisbon. He took us to some great spots for Pastel de Nata, Ginja drink, and many other local historical spots. Even when our time was over he offered to show us more. Joao folowed up with us on popular shops, restaurants, and other things to do while we were in Lisbon. Neben den kulinarischen Neuentdeckungen gab es auch wertvolle Hinweise, wie man sich in der hügeligen Stadt effizient bewegt. Alles in allen war eine sehr gelungene Aktivität. We truly enjoyed our tour with Inês. She was extremely accommodating and ensured we learned a lot at a pace that felt reasonable for everyone in our group. Inês is extremely friendly and quickly won over our 6- and 8-year olds by sharing fun facts about each of the places that we saw as well as their interests, which she asked for ahead of time. She was a wealth of information on Lisboa and also gave us great advice for the remainder of our trip. She was thoughtful to build in breaks and fun stops for the kids.
