Absolutely AMAZING experience with Roberto... he helped organize a driver to meet us at the train station so that we could go up to Vesuvius and hike the crater before then being driven back to Pompeii and meeting with Roberto for a tour. He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and paced the tour extremely well. His passion for history was infectious and adults and teen boys all said it was one of the best tour guides we had on our trip. Don't look further, just book with Roberto. Roberto was the best!! We had a tour of Pompeii and Ercolano with Roberto on 12/3 and it was excellent! You can't even imagine how much more interesting and informative it is when you have a customized, private tour with an expert who loves history. Roberto was informative, interesting and really gave us an insider's view. There's no way we would have enjoyed learning about the history in a large group or on our own. Worth every cent. Roberto was a fantastic guide! My wife and I were with him for the Pompeii tour. Roberto is very easy going and his knowledge was extensive. We plan on coming back next year with our three college age boys and going through the tour again. Roberto is an amazing guide! He showed us so many little details in Pompeii and challenged us to figure out what some of the areas were. Because he is also an archeologist, we not only saw the life in Pompeii, we could feel it! Roberto was very kind to two elderly ladies, helping us over some of the rougher areas but never making us feel elderly. The pace of the tour was perfect. We had an unforgettable experience of Pompeii with our guide Roberto. It made such a difference to have someone with an encyclopaedic knowledge. Roberto helped paint an image of what life was like at that time in the way he includes everyday details. I can't recommend Roberto enough. As we know, a tour experience rises and falls based primarily on the quality of the guide. Roberto was excellent. He communicated well prior to the tour and made the meeting efficient by sharing Google Maps links and provide good advice and instructions. He tailored the experience to our interests. He interacted very well with our three kids (ages 14, 12, and 9). This includes asking them questions (without making them uncomfortable), engaging with them, sharing things they may be interested in, and being patient with their relatively shorter attention spans and lack of interest in some details. While at the same time not dumbing the tour down for the adults and those who had deeper interests. He knew the site and the history very well and spoken about it clearly and logically. He was professional and also personable. No complaints - I would absolutely recommend him or book him again myself.Excellent Guide and Experience

Roberto’s tour was recommended to me and I’m so glad it was because it was one of the best tours we’ve been on. Everyone in our group of 13 was raving about it afterwards. From the very start, Roberto was great in his communications with me while planning this excursion. He was always willing to answer my questions in a timely manner and arranged our transportation from our cruise ship to the site. It was clear on the tour itself that the history of Pompeii is something that Roberto is very passionate about and he shared many interesting facts with us as well as getting us to think about how life was lived back then. We also had someone with us who had some mobility issues and Roberto was very patient and thoughtful regarding her needs as we walked around. We booked with Roberto for this tour specifically because of his professional background and it was absolutely fantastic! His wealth of knowledge helped frame our understanding of Pompeii before and after the volcano eruption. To learn so much about Roman engineering ingenuity, the lives of the Pompeians, architecture, and the on-going efforts of uncovering and preserving artifacts...all while walking us through the streets of Pompeii...was a gift and will be a lifelong memory. The site is HUGE and 3 hours will only give you time to cover a portion of the site, but Roberto did such an expert job on giving us a well rounded tour, we are aiming to return to see and learn more...with Roberto! We had a great experience with Roberto. He provided a great tour of Pompeii and worked with us to add on a tour of Herculaneum. He also arranged a wonderful driver to run us around who also helped us find pizza before all the pizza places shut for the afternoon. Roberto was very knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. Our tour with Roberto was so insightful and interesting. We all had questions about all sorts of aspects of Pompeii and he was happy to not only answer but point out details, that we definitely would have missed on our own. Roberto was absolutely fantastic. Our journey to Pompeii from Naples was very difficult with train cancellations, and Roberto was very helpful in advising us how to get to the site. Once there, he also was able to modify our tour to accommodate our cranky, overheated teenagers, and end the tour near a secondary train station that allowed us to return to Naples more easily. Now, for the tour itself: Roberto is a true expert, who is engaging, knowledgeable, and personable. He conveys the fascinating history in a lively manner without being overwhelming. Roberto is fantastic; a fount of knowledge about ancient Pompeii and the art and artifacts of the time. My wife and I toured Pompeii with him four years ago, and his passion and demeanor caused us to reach back out when we returned with our two sons (23 and 12). Roberto was great! Before we even arrived in Italy he helped coordinate with our earlier WithLocals guide so we'd have a car to bring us straight from the end of the earlier tour to begin our tour of Pompeii. That made the day super convenient and allowed us to get in both a Naples food tour in the AM with an afternoon/early evening tour of Pompeii. What you need to know about Roberto is that he's a local AND he's a Dr. with a degree in Archeology. So when you are on tour with Roberto he knows what he's talking about. This visit to Pompeii in the company of Roberto was the culmination of several years planning. In my view there is no other way to see Pompeii. To visit privately with an archaeologist who has worked on the site, who appreciates that you also have a knowledge of the history of the period and is prepared to discuss so much that wouldn’t even be touched on in a public tour was fantastic. Roberto was een excellent guide to walk us through Pompeii. Although we only had 2 hours to walk around, Roberto was able to cover al lot of interesting aspects of the city to give us an overview. You definitely notice that archeology and ancient history are his passion, which makes it more interesting to listen to. He really tries to get you involved in the tour by asking your opinion and thoughts and discuss the history with you.
