My fiancé and I were in Amsterdam for the first time and wanted to see the windmills. We chose Olga for her background and interests and it was a great choice!!! She was well spoken (English) and well versed on the history of the area and windmills. She was very personable and took her job very seriously- ensuring we got the most out of our time with her. Olga was friendly and knowledgeable about Zaanse Schans. She offered to pick us up so we could spend more time there, and it was worth it. The area was cute, and the windmills were huge. It was a real treat to be able to climb through the windmill and see the inner workings. The clog making demonstration was entertaining and informative. Olga was able to answer any questions we had about the history and even questions just related to Amsterdam in general. I will book a tour with her again on future visits.

I had signed up for a tour with Arunabha, but at dinner the night before got a text from Vita saying she would be our tour guide. Vita was pleasant but not a great tour guide. She didn't speak loud enough and often walked ahead of us (facing forward) while talking which made it difficult to hear her. Her knowledge of what we saw seemed good, but she could have offered up more information. I felt like I needed to draw info out of her. She also was rushing us to leave our favorite part of the tour -- watching the saw powered by the windmill. I understand things come up, but no one ever told us what happened to Arunabha. For a tour of this price, I think we deserved an explanation or an option to reschedule. What we saw was good but the overall experience was just OK. I'd recommend the tour but not with Vita.Zaanse-Schans: I wish we had Arunabha

If you want the perfect way to see Zaanse-Schans, I highly recommend booking Olga as your guide. Prior to our experience, Olga was great at communicating with us. She made it very easy to find her at our meeting spot. Once we were at Zaanse-Schans her stories and depth of knowledge of both the town and of Amsterdam made our day even more special. We had a private cheese making demonstration, saw how clogs were made and toured inside a windmill. We learned about the history of the houses, how people lived, worked and slept. We learned so much about the history and meanings of the windmills (windmills used as code during WWII - I had never heard this before). She had answers to all my questions - even when I asked about paint colors. Olga was such a joy to spend time with. Her love of Holland clearly came through. This was so much better than joining a large tour group or even going on our own. The depth of knowledge and Olga has made this an experience we won't forget. Perfect Day in Zaanse-Schans

I went on the windmill, cheese and wooden shoe tour with my girls (10 and 12). What a perfect trip! Olga was a fabulous combination of educational and fun. She gave enough background to make the tour interesting and memorable, but not too much depth as to lose her audience. She was friendly, accommodating and prompt. I would highly recommend Olga - you will not be disappointed!! My girls insisted on adding that she was “funny” and “awesome!” A great day!

If you do not book a tour with Olga you are missing out. She is so friendly, genuine and patient. We did her tour of the windmills at Zaanse Schans. I wish we booked more tours with her! Thank you so much to Anna, who took us on an absolutely incredible trip to the town of Zaanse Schans, just outside of Amsterdam. It was the perfect four-hour day trip - not too long, not too short. Anna took us to many great spots where we saw a clog-making demonstration and learned about the history of the shoes, tasted delicious cheese, experienced a working windmill, and learned so much about the rich history of the area and the windmills. Anna did a fantastic job of teaching us about all sorts of interesting things and tailored our day to focus on what we wanted to see. She was engaging, very knowledgeable and kind and we truly enjoyed our day with her! This is an amazing option for anyone wanting to experience some of the Dutch countryside in a low-key, easy way without spending an entire day on a bus or with a huge tour group. We couldn’t recommend this experience and Anna enough! Excellent trip to the countryside!

we had a great time with Giovanna visiting the windmills and community. from the moment we met at the train station we were able to have a great conversation about Amsterdam, Italy and the USA. She was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood we visited and the history and current use of the windmills and made sure we saw it all without overdoing it! after we took her lunch recommendation for some excellent Indonesian (both the food and the bartender)! great day visiting the windmills!

My wife and I were very happy that Giovanna was our guide to the windmills. She not only provided a history of the windmills during the tour but also provided a good overall explanation about the canals in and around Amsterdam. If she did not have an answer to any of our questions she was able to get the various people who operate the windmills come over and talk to us. Overall she was quite pleasant to spend the day with and she was also able to provide information as to what else to do and where to eat in Amsterdam. Next time when we come back I am sure we would book another tour with her. perfect city escape

Anna responded quickly when I messaged her through Withlocals. She adjusted the start and end times of our tour to meet our needs. We rented a car for the day so she kindly met us at our rental flat, rode with us to Zaanse Schans and pointed out sights along the way. She listened intently and "got us" really quickly -- she knew exactly how much detail about the windmills, clogs, cheese and chocolate to share with my husband, our 17-yr-old and myself. We had a little extra time so she led us through a small fishing village that we enjoyed as much as Zaanse Schans! Anna gave us the rich history of the area as well as information about the Netherlands' current culture, economy and politics. Most importantly, Anna is easy to be with -- a real pleasure. Arun greeted me at meeting spot right on time. He provided the train ticket to Zaanse Schans and got us to the platform where we visited briefly before boarding the train. He was friendly and informative as we road the 17 min out to the village. There all my expectations were met. I saw the windmills, experienced the working windmill museum, saw chocolate being processed, tasted some wonderful cheeses at Henri Willig and saw clogs being made. There’s plenty of options to pick up your Dutch souvenirs, but no pressure! I highly recommend Arun as a guide. Experience a Historical Village Recreation

Ana was fabulous! She took myself and my friend to see the windmills and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was prompt with her response to booking inquiries, had helpful suggestions and swiftly moved us around the crowds (which we wanted to avoid). She had a great mixture of facts, local knowledge, history and everyday conversation and was patient with us both as we stopped to take multiple photos of livestock, windmills and circled back to do shopping. Highly recommend her for a completely laid back experience! Fantastic!
