I booked this a few weeks ago and asked for a private guided tour of Athens. I didn’t save my email text request but wanted a tour of the acropolis and places where Paul preached. I apparently chose the wrong tour which I found out toward the end…the guide was nice & knowledgeable of the areas we were shown, but I would not have chosen this tour had I known what it did not include. I think that the tour should have made it clear that we were NOT seeing any of the acropolis or where Paul preached. It should be in bold red letters on the website. The price I paid was not worth the money for this tour. I was very disappointed. We ended up walking to the entrance and doing the acropolis tour on our own along with the spot where Paul preached. I’m not sure I will use this group again. “Highlights” of Athens

Eva was not only an outstanding tour guide, but a wonderful person with whom to spend three hours. She is engaging, warm, humorous and by the end of the time together she felt like a friend. She was extremely knowledgeable about greek history and intertwined mythology into the information and stories she shared about the acropolis by giving us each mythological roles. We not only spent time learning details about the acropolis itself, as we wandered around the ruins, but also had an incredibly interesting tour through the museum. Eva pointed out bits of information one would never pick up on their own. I only wish we could have spent the day together!!! Eva met us at 8am in Syntagma Square and we were the only ones there! Great photo opportunity. We strolled through the park seeing geese and goats…very relaxing. Then off to the Olympic stadium with stops to hear about history. Eva made it fun for the pre teens as well as the adults. We visited a picturesque village below the Acropolis and a break for a refreshment. Eva is a wonderful photographer so we let her choose the locations for our family photos. Eva is vivacious and very energetic…we all loved spending the morning with her. Family Outing A Success

Evanthia contacted me right after I booked our tour. She even texted me to say I had to purchase the acropolis & slope tour and the museum tickets separately and what website to go to. She also texted us a meeting place. Evanthia’s vast knowledge of the history of Acropolis and all the surrounding monuments is astounding! Evanthia was even a very good sport when we (my 20 yr. daughter and I just stepped off a 10 our flight with a 3 hour layover from our first 2 hr flight at 9am) and told her we were extremely exhausted so Evanthia keep us at a great pace in order to see the entire museum. Needless to say she didn’t race through to get it all in. She was thorough but brief. One of the BEST tour guides around!!

A delicant mixture of history, architecture, culture and local food, all woven together by Yorgos astounding ability to tell stories. My little brother, not the type to be fascinated with anything but football was impressed by how much he enjoyed the tour. After the tour we all had a feeling we had gotten to know the city through a perspective that other tourists around us were not able to. Eleni has a depth of knowledge about the city from her familial roots in Athens and her deep studies and research as an archaeologist. We learned about so much more than food. Speaking of, the food tour took us to over 5 places where we must have tried over 10 dishes and sweet treats. Her energy is very calming and she knows all the best spots for each dish. You can find almost any dish in any of the Greek restaurants and bakeries, but Eleni knew where to find the long-standing locals joints and led us through several beautiful neighborhoods. We genuinely enjoyed Evanthia and her tour around Athens. She made a great effort to ensure we were all engaged, from a buff like me to a jaded 16yo girl. We covered a lot of territory, from the classical sites to off the beaten path. We had originally wanted to get up to the Acropolis, but bad timing on my part prevented our ability to get tickets. My wife and I booked a private tour of the Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis, and the Parthenon. Overall the tour itself was just okay- a bit disappointing, actually. We were so excited about this tour and were really looking forward to the personalized and more intimate experience of hiring a tour guide from withlocals. I sent a message a month in advance to let our guide know a bit about us and our goals/interests for the tour and never heard back. I reached out again a couple days in advance through the website and finally heard back. However, when we were on the tour, it really didn’t seem like our guide read anything I wrote. The tour wasn’t personalized at all and honestly it lacked energy and enthusiasm. The time spent walking between locations was in silence whereas most tours I’ve been a part of the guide takes that time to tell stories or preface us with information for the next location we will be seeing. I will say, we definitely learned a lot about architecture and a little bit about the history of Athens and Athens’ occupiers which was so fascinating and I would have loved to learn more. I love history and hearing stories about past events, sadly, what history we did learn was spotty and disjointed which made it hard to put the pieces together. We enjoyed getting some lemonade near the foot of the Acropolis and hearing a bit more about our guide’s life and some details on modern Athens. I really don’t mean to be too harsh because our guide was a kind person but the tour wasn’t at all what we were expecting based on the descriptions on the website and the price.Athens Hidden Gems Tour

We travel many times a year and often do a food tasting tour the first day. This was the worst food tour we have ever experienced. The food we tasted was incredibly unimaginative (for example: a package of oregano and a package of bread sticks from a supermarket as two of the tastings!) Evanthia did not seem to have any real knowledge of Greek food, nor did she take us anywhere to taste any interesting local cuisine, except 2 pieces of filo pie we shared between the 5 of us. I DO NOT recommend a food tour with Evanthia. We were hugely underwhelmed.Disappointing food tour with Evanthia

There were 9 of us with Yorgos. Some have never done this type of tour before. He was super accommodating with such a large group. Yorgos gave us a meeting spot within walking distance of our hotel and it was super easy to find. We had SOOOOO much food. Everything was fantastic. Some small bites and then we sat down at a restaurant and had a feast!!! We learned the history of the food and tried so many different things. I would recommend this 100% but probably do less than 9 people lol was a bit harder to find places to sit with that many. What a fun experience!
