Eleni lead my family, including 2 18 year olds and 2 16 year olds to see important and interesting places in the areas around the Acropolis and the plaka. She was knowledgeable and interesting and kept the whole group listening and going even after a very long day. At the end, she found us a couple of restaurants that might work and we ended our evening with a great dinner. I highly recommend touring with Eleni. Additionally, she is very flexible!Wonderful tour with knowledgeable guide

This tour was our first overview of Athens. We enjoyed the walk, and seeing many places we may have missed without a guide. However, Eleni's English was difficult to understand. She had a quite voice and it was difficult to hear her over the noise of Athens. She was also checking her phone frequently, and didn't have the enthusiasm that our other guides had. In general, we felt the tour was, okay.Nice walk around Athens.

We truly enjoyed the Mythical Athens Riverside tour with Eleni. She is an archeologist very knowledgeable in ancient greek stories as well as greek modern history. We discovered vibrant neighborhoods like Monastiraki, Psiri, and Thisseo. We were surprised by the stunning views of Athens from Pnyx hill. An amazing evening with Eleni that we will cherish forever! She also provided a list of excellent roof top restaurants that otherwise we wouldn’t have found. We highly recommend meeting Eleni for a local experience in Athens.Mythical Athens Riverside

Overall the tour itself was just okay- a bit disappointing, actually. We were so excited about this tour and were really looking forward to the personalized and more intimate experience of hiring a tour guide from withlocals. I sent a message a month in advance to let our guide know a bit about us and our goals/interests for the tour and never heard back. I reached out again a couple days in advance through the website and finally heard back. However, when we were on the tour, it really didn’t seem like our guide read anything I wrote. The tour wasn’t personalized at all and honestly it lacked energy and enthusiasm. The time spent walking between locations was in silence whereas most tours I’ve been a part of the guide takes that time to tell stories or preface us with information for the next location we will be seeing. I will say, we definitely learned a lot about architecture and a little bit about the history of Athens and Athens’ occupiers which was so fascinating and I would have loved to learn more. I love history and hearing stories about past events, sadly, what history we did learn was spotty and disjointed which made it hard to put the pieces together. We enjoyed getting some lemonade near the foot of the Acropolis and hearing a bit more about our guide’s life and some details on modern Athens. I really don’t mean to be too harsh because our guide was a kind person but the tour wasn’t at all what we were expecting based on the descriptions on the website and the price.Athens Hidden Gems Tour

Dionysis was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable…he spent 3 hours showing us sites, giving us a history lesson and making recommendations for the rest of our time in Athens. He even bought us some of his favorite street food to try! Highly recommend!!

Eleni took us on a 90 minute walk, showing and telling us how Athens had changed since our previous visit in 1979. She also gave us restaurant recommendations, and showed us the city food market. Eleni took us on the best 2 hour walk ever! She was raised in Athens and knows her way around. We weaved our way through restaurants, shopping areas and archeological digs throughout the city. Eleni did a great job of taking us near many of the monument sites while giving us a ton of background info of the history and current status's of what we were seeing. She gave us a view of the area that you couldn't get without a local's help. We also got to experience a Sunday Market area and Flea Market area that the locals spend their Sunday day off enjoying. A perfect way to get to know the area, with a great local expert.Great walk through the monuments and city

We did the local food tour with Eleni. She made sure to ask us before what are thing we would like try from the local food. She took us to the local market and was patient with us while we were buying some products she would also recommend what to take what to not. She did also share a good information of Athens history through the walk. The highlight of the tour was trying the pie with spinach and fita cheese it was so so good.See athens from a local eye

I've used Withlocals many times in different countries and this unfortunately was the worse. I've also been on many food tours. And this ranked on the bottom. The first restaurant was very nice the food was good & we tasted orzo. Then we seem to walk around aimlessly thru streets and alleys! We finally stopped to get a Greek donut ( tasty) . We walk around again in silence unless I asked her questions..but No History of anything. She saidnshe was going ti take us to get Greek coffee. We stopped at a cafe & the waitress immediately told her we couldn't sit at the tables! Me, hubby & my friend * her hubby were confused and embarrassed as they began arguing! It was in Greek so no idea what was said. Then we were told to sit but move tables! The waitress went to talk to owner/ manager & then He & Eleni started arguing! We just left! And folknwere staring at us & we were perplexed! It didn't seem like it was racist intent( I,asked) it looked like it was all towards her! We stopped at one more place for coffee. It was NOT A 10 TASTINGS FOOD TOUR! JUST WALKING AIMLESSLY! Disappointed! We didn't say.much elsto her because of jetlag & just wanted to be doneNO! Get someone else

We had a tour of 14 people with Eleni. We were expecting to go to 10 different places but only went to 3. The first place we showed up we had to wait for tables to be put together and they were not ready for us. She ordered about 3 salads, 3 different gyros and a few orders of taziki. The food was good though but over half of us couldn’t hear half of what she was telling us. When we were done there we went to a street vendor and got two orders of loukoumades with different toppings. We then went to a place that had gelato. She walked out with one big tub and a ton of spoons and expected us to share and keep using the same spoons. For each of us paying $55 this seemed to be extremely overpriced and unorganized. Multiple of us felt like we wasted our money. In the end we were trying to get taxis and she ran them off and we ended up having to walk back to the hotel as she was arguing with them all and making the decision on our behalf not asking us if the price for the taxi was ok with us.Unorganized

Unfortunately the experience was disappointing for us. Eleni was kind, but I am sorry to say that her English simply wasn't good enough, so it was way too difficult for us to understand her. Also we had expected a deeper knowledge of history or at least an ability to better unfold and connect all the interesting sites. Disappointing

Eleni spoke excellent English and is very knowledgeable about the history of Athens! She was very accommodating as well as she asked us if we have any allergies and whether we prefer savoury or sweet food. A suggestion for next time, perhaps, would be to try different food from different merchants as we tasted 3 things from the same place. So maybe it could have been planned slightly better. Having said that, we ate well and in abundance. It was certainly a pleasure getting to know her and well worth the price. Good food and good guide!

Our night of tastings with Eleni was overall just ok. We were never asked about our food preferences or if we had any allergies or foods we didn’t eat/drink. She had her places and took us there. Overall it was a good picture of the traditional Greek foods. But since it was a private tour with just my husband and I, I expected it to be a bit more customized. Eleni was not very engaged. We didn’t receive much history about the foods we were eating or about the particular establishments - except that maybe it was there for a long time. It was overall extremely boring and not worth the money. None of the establishments that she took us to were that memorable or we were not told why they are the best and worth coming back to. I would not recommend this tour. Just an average night
