Tommi was a very good guide and he knew a lot about the history of Amsterdam. He had an excellent way of explaining the history. The only problem that we had was the extra walking that Tommi took us on to see a park that was outside of downtown and really didn't pertain much to the Dutch history. I walk with a cane and had a hard time walking at the end of the tour.exploring Amsterdam

Annet came to the meeting point on time and led us on a lovely adventure. She really listens and wants to know what you’d like to see as well as what you might already know. Arun was great in taking time to understand what we needed. He was patient and took us round explaining the Dutch history and architecture, the canals and the history between each, he took time to take us to picturesque places where we got amazing shots. It is worth paying a guide so as to get a local's version of Amsterdam, and recommendations of other things to do and places to eat. His recommendations were great. I highly recommend him!Fantastic!

Our family had an amazing walking tour of Amsterdam with Tommi. His knowledge and detail about the sites in the center of Amsterdam, as well as in the surrounding areas, were simply incredible. Tommi accommodated our special requests into his tour and we ventured out via metro, team and bus to cover some of the lesser known areas. I am a well seasoned traveler and Tommi was hands down the best city guide I’ve ever had. Tommi is so knowledgeable about the city and you can tell he really loves what he does. He was able to tell us about architecture, history, culture, food, and gave us really great tips for our time in Amsterdam. We were able to see some of the popular sites, hidden gems that we would have not otherwise noticed, and also experienced less touristy neighborhoods where locals live. His tour really enhanced my understanding of the city and gave amazing context for the rest of my stay. At first I was skeptical of the cost because it is more than I usually spend on a tour. But I found that this was absolutely well worth the price and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Tommi, for such an amazing day!! Best guide ever

We took a bike tour with Annet as a family (two parents and two teenagers) and it was honestly one of the top highlights of our whole trip. It took a minute to get used to the back-pedal brakes, but Annet's positive and enthusiastic energy helped us get comfortable quickly. She made something that might have felt intimidating—biking through a busy city—feel totally doable and fun. We saw parts of Amsterdam we never would have found on our own and felt like locals weaving through the streets and canals. Best of all, she also happens to be an incredible photographer. She captured some of our favorite photos from the entire trip—honestly, she’s both a tour guide and a professional photographer in one. This tour had all of us engaged (and if you’ve ever traveled with teenagers, you know that says a lot). Highly, highly recommend!

Annett was very informative and took us to several interesting places. However we did not understand why her feelings for President Trump were involved in the tour. What does that have to do with the history of Amsterdam? She was obviously wanting us to engage in a discussion about American politics but we were not interested in that. We have our beliefs but we are on vacation and wanting to relax, not argue. And the bottom line is that I and most Americans really don’t care what Annett or anyone else thinks about America, our government or our President.Amsterdam tour 25

Arum was nice and knowledgeable about the history of local foods. It was mostly a stroll through a local street market, tasting an eclectic mix of Dutch and ethnic-inspired Dutch foods, though we ended early due to exhaustion on the part of some of our group. We tried delicious “Pom” sandwiches, Gouda cheeses, Dutch pancakes, and unexpected pairing of Dutch apple pie and draft beer, fried fish (we declined the herring), and ended with bitterballen. I don’t think this was a foodie’s “best of Amsterdam” tour, but rather an introduction to different foods found here that you may not encounter elsewhere. Arun spoke quickly and softly so it was difficult at times for some in our 6-person group to hear what he was saying. Having said that, we didn’t all do an especially good job sticking close by, though we did have to ask him to repeat himself a few times for those who couldn’t catch his words. If we had been a bit more energetic I think it might have been more fun, unfortunately we had had a long day and ran out of steam before we got through all the stops. The thing most important to know is that this is rather eclectic in terms of the order of tasting things - from cheese to butter soaked sugar cakes to beer, so prepare your stomach accordingly. And be sure to bring water to wash it all down. Good intro to Amsterdam Int’l Food Scene

Arun picked us up at our hotel for our 3 hour walking tour. He taylored the tour to our interests, needs, and walking speeds. He is very knowledgeable about the different areas of the city and he pointed out good places to eat and other actvities and places to visit on our own along the way. We three adults had a great time riding through various roads and backroads around central Amsterdam with Annet. We’re reasonably accomplished riders but it was most helpful having a guide through all the pedestrian, car and tram traffic! Also the bike had back-brakes instead of hand brakes which took some adjustment for starting and stopping. Annet was informative and very helpful with photographic tips and finding photogenic spots. We enjoyed a day with Tommie as our guide in Amsterdam. He was personable and thoughtful and simply full of many aspects of the city. Architectural insights, city history, commentary on events, holiday traditions, good restaurants, and an amazing list of hidden gems, ie special insights that he has observed over the years. He is fluent in 6-7 languages and is a very competent piano player. He made it clear to us up front that he was a high functioning person with asbergers. We felt that disability was never a problem at all. His encyclopedic understanding of Amsterdam was a big plus. His tour was outstanding.Excellent Tour Guide

Arun was a great guide and knowledgeable about the history of the neighborhood. Our feedback would be to add a few more stops and some more food? It started at 7:30 and by 10pm (the end) we had really only had food at one of the stops. We were hungry and had to find a place for dinner at a late hour. Great idea- but maybe add more food?

We spent 2 hours with Arunabha in the Rijksmuseum where we learnt a lot abour Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer and other painters of this time. Arunabha has a great knowledge of the painters and their life - we discovered some hidden connections between these different artists. We also went to see the dolls houses, which are very special, and the wondeful museum library. We very much recommend this tour.A lovely introduction to the Rijksmuseum

We had a great time with Arunabha- he was knowledgeable, friendly and good with the kids. My only constructive feedback is this tour would have been more accurately named "Basic tour of Amsterdam" or "Highlights of Amsterdam." There weren't really any hidden gems. We got pretty much the exact same tour on the canal cruise we took. As a guide, he was great and we were not disappointed. If you are looking for something different than a basic tour I am sure he can accommodate if you send him a message beforehand. So to sum it up we really has a great time and liked him a lot, just wanted some more "hidden gems", meaning more locally known spots we wouldn't necessarily see or know about. Great basic tour of Amsterdam

This was our first time using WithLocals and it could not have been a better experience with Tommi. His knowledge of Amsterdam history and passion of the architecture was contagious. He also took us outside of the touristy areas which was nice. He provided great details and answered all of our questions. Annett was very kind and helpful throughout the tour. Much of the art has been moved which may have affected her tour. I wish we learned more about the history of the art itself. At times she would read the plaque, which we could have easily done ourselves. I think I just needed more history and understanding of the art itself. My wife and I took a highlights and hidden gems tour with Tommi and had a blast. We covered a lot of the city that we would have been apprehensive to check out on our own. Some of our favorite areas ended up being in places we would not have gone without a guide. Tommi provided a lot of historical information coupled with experiences of life as a native and local. We asked a lot of questions and he was ready with detailed answers. He provided many specific stories that are so much more memorable to go along with the general history or facts about the city. Arunabha provided a vast amount of information on the history of Amsterdam, Netherlands, vis a vis the invasion by Nazis and many perspectives on the resistance.
