We rode in John’s jeep from the city to Tonlé Sap lake through the small agricultural communities on richly colored red roads, alongside glowing green rice fields. Stunning. Then we took the boat through the incredible and unusual floating village, and finally onto the lake for sunset. It was a spectacular day all around, enriched by John’s strong knowledge of the area, and his ability to answer all questions. Strongly recommend the end of afternoon timing. The light was beautiful. When we shared where we have been to, he was quick to offer alternative (from countryside sunset tour to Sunset tour in Tonle sap Lake). Sunset on the lake was really an amazing experience. It was a wonderful experience with a jeep from 70s, rural sight less known by tourist, sunset, greenery field (agriculture), friendly knowledgeable tour guide. We love this tour totally, very different and unique to the standard temple tours. John was great throughout, he tries his best to accommodate to help to make the trip unforgettable. Thanks for it! John shared his extensive knowledge with us exploring the major temples of Angkor Wat. He is also a great picture taker, angling our way into the best photo spots and taking lots of pictures for us. After about 5-6 hours of exploring, we were hot and tired. John kindly asked us if we wanted more small temples or to go directly to the last major temple. We opted to go to the major temple but I know John would have been happy to continue showing us around longer. Would definitely recommend John for a day at Angkor Wat.Great day with John

Tour was very nice with John picking us up from our hotel in the morning and finding us a nice place to watch the sunrise over the West gate. From there we spent the first part of the tour in Angkor Wat before going to a breakfast place. After breakfast, we toured the Ta Prohm temple (John knew the best places for photos here) and we stopped at a small temple near Bayon that was less visited by tourists. Finally we ended the tour at Bayon where John told us about every part of the temple we walked through. He was then nice enough to ask where we wanted dropped off at the conclusion. Hi John was very knowledgeable and we watched the sunrise over Angie way in a beautiful place away from the crowds. We went to the other temples bayon and the tomb raider temple which was fantastic. Unfortunately, John was having some health issues and he had is friend Makara provide the tour instead. This was not an issue. Makara was wonderful. The tour started early, which allowed us to have front row seats to a beautiful sunrise over Angkor Wat. After seeing the Angkor Wat complex, Makara took us to different temple complexes that were not crowded. He provided insightful history about each of our visits. Riding around the complex in a jeep was a great, efficient way to see the complex. I would recommend this tour!Unforgettable experience

John was our guide for our first experience of Angkor Wat. He led us in the dark to the perfect place to watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the ancient temple, then led us on an exploration of the structure. Throughout he carefully explained the engineering that has kept the temple looking magnificent for centuries, the story of the Hindu king that built it, and the subsequent regimes that defaced and repurposed the temple. After a brunch we explored some other famous temples and learned much more about the Khmer empire that built them. We had a great time with John at the Sunrise at Angkor Wat. He had been made aware in useful communications prior to our visit of my husbands limited mobility and made sure we were able to see as much as possible. The pick-up from the hotel was prompt, the car was very comfortable. We had a good supply of iced water and air conditioning. The restaurants we stopped at were spotlessly clean with delicious choices. John's knowledge was excellent and we fully enjoyed our time. He kindly agreed to drop us at the airport after our tour so that made the day very relaxed. I would highly recommend him. Great knowledge, helpful and interesting

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Tour. John konnte uns viel von seinem Wissen weitergeben. Zwischendurch hielten wir noch in einem tollen Café, wo wir unser Frühstück vom Hotel essen konnten. 5 am and John arrived at our hotel to collect us the tour of the Ankor Wat site. The thing we love about withlocal tours ( we've done 8 on this trip) is that you get that small,personal and local experience. John has grown up around Siem Riep and has studies intensively the history and layout of the enormous Ankor site. Using this knowledge he was able to select 3 key tomb sites for us to visit . He also guided us around the large groups with their flag and microphone to personally talk us through the stories related to each site . He has a huge knowledge of the history and can even explain the stories on the large wall murals in great detail . It is also his flexibility that makes a great tour - recognising when we were struggling in the heat , slowing the pace and always on hand with ice cold towels and water when the driver returned to collect us in the jeep. Thanks John for an amazing tour that will live long in our memories ! WE WILL TELL OUR FRIENDS . The personal touch cant be beaten

We had a brilliant day with John. An early start to see the sun rise over Angkor Wat and then he guided us round the temple. Then we visited Ta Promh and Angkor Thom. He also offered us the chance to see some smaller temples between, but we felt that would have been too much for us. Johns knowledge was excellent and he also helped us get some fabulous photos. We had a two days tour, including sunrise at Angkor Wat with John and Chem and we enjoyed both days to the maximum. We did several tours in Asian countries but this one is high on our ranking: 1. Very good English 2. Their way of explaining the history, culture and anecdotes. 3. Their politeness and friendliness. John was raised in the middle of the rice paddies what makes him an exceptional guide along the countryside. He also knows very good the history of his country what makes him more valuable. I reached out to John last minute to see if he was available for a customized 3-day tour. He was already booked one of the days but was able to arrange everything quickly and had another guide (who was equally as fantastic) substitute in for the day John was booked. All I had to do was let him know what we wanted to see - the main temples, some of the secondary ones (including a few out of the way like Beng Mealea), Tonle Sap, and Kulen National Park - and he arranged the schedule. We had a large, comfortable, air-conditioned van with full time driver and plenty of cool towels and water to help beat the heat. While you can of course tour Angkor Wat on your own and save a bit, getting a knowledgeable guide makes the experience much more interesting and fulfilling as they are able to explain all of the history and point things out that you would miss. I would 100% recommend John.Incredible time in Siem Reap

Vistas e itinerario muy interesante a través del campo y canales alrededor de Siem Reap. Es una manera genial de conocer la verdadera vida de la zona, no solo la imagen del turista. What a great way to see Angkor wat, our guide John was very knowledgable and made the tour so much more interesting by giving us an in-depth view of the history of Angkor wat, he was very attentive and knew all the best places to get pictures, be looked after us from start to finish, providing refreshments when needed, stopping to see the local communities, overall highly recommended, don’t do the tour with out it as you’ll likely miss out the best bits! We booked 2 tours with John. The night market food tour and the countryside tour. Both by far exceeded our expectations! John was prompt. His English is very good, his authentic open 1970s Jeep was clean and he included cold towels and iced water. During the food tour he explained the different foods, we tasted and he was not offended if we didn't enjoy it. The country side tour was a great experience. We experienced a local home, rice harvesting, traditional food and much more. The highlight was chatting with a local rice farmer. We have never used this website before but we will definitely do so again when we travel. Thanks John for great experience! Wonderful off the beaten track experience!

We booked a sunrise angkor tour and the floating village tour through John. He was not feeling well but he is kind enough to make the arrangements for us. On the sunrise angkor tour we had an amazing photographer which got us tons of wonderful photos (the jeep included in the tour helped a lot too). For the village tour we had a very informative host, and he is a very friendly. What makes this so special is that he shows us both the beautiful and not so beautiful part of the village, its people, culture and lifestyle.
