During our recent visit to Rome, we participated in a risotto cooking workshop led by Massimo, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip! Massimo welcomed us into his beautiful classic apartment, located just a stone's throw from the Colosseum. Although the apartment is considered 'new' by Roman standards at 150 years old, it exudes the charm and history of the city. Massimo is not only a master in the kitchen but also an exceptionally friendly and engaging storyteller. As he taught us the art of making risotto, he shared fascinating stories about daily life in Rome and the cultural differences between northern and southern Italy. His stories were so captivating that, inspired by his anecdotes, we decided never to buy Barilla pasta again, just like him! ;-) His perfect command of the English language allowed us to have truly enjoyable and in-depth conversations. The cozy atmosphere was completed with a delightful glass of wine with the meal. And now the most important part: did we learn anything from the workshop? Absolutely! Massimo provided us with countless tips and tricks. Making risotto may not be complicated, but it does require constant attention and care. Thanks to Massimo, we now feel confident in making the perfect risotto at home. We highly recommend Massimo to anyone looking for a unique and educational culinary experience in Rome. Massimo was very welcoming and provided us with many tips and tricks on perfecting our risotto making. He is very skilled and knowledgeable so it was well worth it. We had a wonderful afternoon with Massimo! He welcomed us into his historic apartment and was a gracious host, offering us still or sparkling water and allowed us to as involved or hands-off as we wanted in the cooking experience. There isn’t any air conditioning in his building, due to the historical facade, but he had an electric fan set up and offered us hand fans to keep cool. Massimo regaled us with lovely anecdotes and insights into Roman culture, and had many great tips for the rest of our trip here. His English is beautiful and his cooking is divine! He really made us feel like we could recreate the risotto at home. Would highly recommend taking a lesson from Massimo, regardless of skill level!A wonderful meal and a new friend!

That was very cool and genuine experience! Massimo is a perfect host, lots of knowledge about Italy and Italian Cuisine and willingness to share that knowledge! Also I really liked the result we got - the carbonara was very good, I liked it more than in restaurants as it wasn't that aggressively seasoned, so if you want a glance on real Italian home cooking - that's a good place. And we already tried the recipes on our own - it still tastes pretty good =)Home cooking in Rome!

We had a great time from start to finish. Cooked two different types of Rissoto and loved both. Massimo is warm and welcoming in his home. Learned lots of new tricks that we will incorporate in recipes at home. Very well rounded and unique experience. When we visit Rome again will definitely book another experience with Massimo. Our time with Massimo was excellent. From the moment we met him to when we walked out we had a smile on our face the entire time. The risotto making process and eating it was fantastic. The chef has a cute apartment in a great part of a city. He was amazing with our teenage children, guiding them through the preparation and keeping them entertained with eloquent stories of history of Roman culinary art. We also got some amazing tips for day-to-day cooking. And, of course, the food was excellent! Highly recommend the experience! marvelous experience!

We had a great couple of hours with Massimo in his lovely home, learning to prepare three of the five classic Roman pasta sauces (and of course eating the results!). Despite already considering ourselves decent cooks, we learned a lot of great tips about making our recipes authentic. Our two girls (14 & 8) really enjoyed it, and Massimo did a brilliant job of including them. Overall, a fantastic experience, a great thing to do with kids in Rome. Highly recommended. Massimo was easily reachable prior to the tour. No issues finding him at our meeting point. Massimo gave us one of the best experiences of our entire trip to Rome. He took us to incredibly unique spots that we never would’ve found on our own—far from the typical tourist trail. Experience was excellent! Massimo has a very warm and welcoming demeanor that is open to all ages. We booked Massimo as our guide for a food tour through Rome’s historic center. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 children, ages 8 and 4. Massimo was an incredible guide, and our 3 hours with him were among the best and most memorable experiences of our entire trip. Massimo’s stories about the history of the area really brought the neighborhoods to life and gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation for streets we had walked on many times before. He kept the kids engaged the entire time as well. His guidance was incredibly valuable because some of the most authentic foods and locations are hidden amid tourist traps. Massimo is absolutely the kindest sweetest and most patient man. We came with 2 toddlers under the age of 3 and he was the nicest most gentle with them. Although they were super cranky he was very patient and the experience was so much fun overall. I'm never ever going to buy ready made pasta sauce now that we learned from Massimo how easy and fun is to cook a delicious three course meal from scratch in no time. Me my wife and my 12, 15 and 24 y/o children had a blast cooking together with massimo and learning in the mean time about ingredients, history and bits and pieces of fun information. Where to even begin? It was our first time in Rome and Massimo was a joy to be around. I’d contacted him prior to the booking in regards to our personal interests and my intention to propose to my now fiancée and straight away he had the most amazing ideas and seemed so genuine in wanting to make it the memorable and magical experience it was. As clueless tourists for starters I’d recommend this at the start of your trip. We had a beautiful food tasting tour filled with lovely snippets of the Roman way of life, the architecture and to summarise a real insight into Rome itself. After a day with Massimo you see this beautiful city in a different way. You feel like you begin to really understand it, the people and the culture and that for me beats being the generic tourist that we are all so guilty of being. Amazing food, beautiful city and a wonderful and enthusiastic Roman in Massimo was just the start of it all. He took us to the Palazzio Doria Pamphilj (Hall of mirrors) for the proposal and helped capture a very special moment for us followed by cocktails on top of a beautiful terrace with panoramic views of the city. So if you want something special, someone enthusiastic and passionate or just want to see the real Rome for a day then Massimo is your man. Grazie! Customised experience with an engagement!

We couldn't have been any happier with our day with Massimo. The cooking experience was as authentic as you'll get in a cozy intimate kitchen. He explained and let us participate in a fun, relaxed manner. Our 5 yr old son thoroughly enjoyed making the pasta and of course eating the final product! We can't recommend this enough and so happy we chose over some commercial larger group type session. We also did the food walking tour with Massimo which was just as good. He took us to spots we probably wouldn't have seen and got to learn some history and local insight about the coffee, sweets, Roman pizza, porchetta a d of course gelato. Our three kids really enjoyed yesterday our cooking lesson with Massimo. He cooks very good pasta and explains very well how to cook (for example making pesto). Massimo has also good knowledge about not only Rome and its history but also his travel experiences around the world. Our guide Massimo gave us a wonderful tour of Rome by night which reflected our interests in history and art as well as food. He showed us some churches we'd missed - even after 4 days' extensive sightseeing! - and gave us the insight of a local who'd grown up in Rome. In our tastings we sampled Roman street food whilst enjoying the buzz of a couple of hours of a Roman Saturday night. Great fun, thank you. Lovely way to spend an evening in Rome

Massimo was a great teacher and very flexible about adapting this class for our very young grandsons. He says the ideal age is 5+ but the twins are only 2 and 1/2 and he was very patient with their limited skills/attention span, managing to keep them excited and involved the whole time. As we know, a tour experience rises and falls based primarily on the quality of the guide. Massimo was excellent. He interacted very well with our three kids (ages 14, 12, and 9). This tour absolutely made our day. We got caught in a terrible storm and Massimo was flexible with our starting point so that we had time to get dry clothes! Communicating through the app was very easy. He was extremely knowledgeable and told us about many subtle aspects of Rome we would have overlooked otherwise. It was beautiful to walk around Rome in the evening. We appreciated learning about the food we were tasting and we were full by the end of the tour! Massimo’s cooking class was one of the best experiences we had on our entire trip! The class takes place in Massimo’s apartment in the heart of Rome, which made the entire experience so authentic. The food was amazing and the recipes were easy to follow and understand for all skill levels of cooking enthusiasts. Beyond the actual cooking class, Massimo told us all about the history of Rome and gave us great recommendations on what to do for the remainder of our trip, which is a very nice added bonus to get one on one time with a true local.
