Together with our teenage daughters we did a tour with a Picasso theme. Sebastian did a great job making it very engaging and bringing history to life. He adapted it to our interests, mixing in other interesting history of Barcelona, its artists and Spain in general. Good mix between walking around and taking stops at different landmarks. Liliia was a wonderful guide who provided a very informative and entertaining tour of Picasso’s Barcelona. We saw “hidden” treasures of Picasso’s art as well as Miro, and other street artists. José was already waiting for is when we arrived. He took us in in the old town and told stories about historie of the neighborhood, the shops/restaurants, the churches, Picasso, etc. He was very pleasant company, informative, and after the 2,5 hour we knew so much more. Elvira definitely made my trip to Barcelona a lot more worthwhile with her knowledge that is beyond art. The Picasso tour is so interesting as you get to picture Picasso’s upbringing and all the elements that made him who he is. Elvira also shares a lot about the history of Spain and Barcelona specifically, and other great artists like Gaudi. She also showed me a lot of great cafes and delicious bakeries. Jose was excellent, prompt and knowledgeable guide for our tour of the Born neighborhood of Picasso in Barcelona. He showed us areas Picasso lived in and told stores of his family and their life in Barcelona and other places in Spain. With this orientation we were well prepared for our visit to the Picasso museum at the end of the tour. Jose is personable, easy to understand and communicates well through the Withlocals website. Fiorella was unable to purchase tickets to the Picasso museum on two occasions. It was apparently one of those freak occurrences that was unforeseen and unavoidable. Fiorella was very accommodating after I realized I needed to book the tour earlier in the morning last minute since we were getting on the cruise ship in the afternoon. She met us promptly in the AM. She showed us around Barcelona where Picasso lived and frequented. This was a good tour prior to visiting the Picasso museum. She told us about the museum and the the different eras and paintings in the museum. Neben Details über den Meister selbst haben wir auch sehr vielWissenswertes über seine Familie, seine Weggefährten und -gefährtinnen, das soziale und politische Umfeld erfahren dürfen, das Ganze natürlich abgerundet durch die Hinweise unserer Führerin, wo was wann stattgefunden hat, sobald wir auf unserem Rundgang an einem im Leben Picassos wichtigen Ort vorbeikamen. So war denn der Audioguide beim Besuch des Picasso-Museums am Schluss schon fast überflüssig, denn vieles war schon in der Tour vornweggenommen und wir konnten uns deshalb umso mehr den rein visuellen Eindrücken des Werkes widmen. Elvira was a very accommodating tour guide. Our tapas tour was supposed to start at 5.30. Our plane was delayed by 3 hours. When Elvira saw we could not make it she called us and suggested to reschedule the tour. Elvira communicated with our taxi driver so we could meet her at another location a way more easy to reach since the streets were closed because of a festival. During our time together she showed all the interesting spots in Barcelona. e were able to experience La Merce which is a local festival. We tried and enjoyed many tapas at local restaurants. I especially enjoyed the Spanish potatoes and the local ham. I would recommend Elvira as a tour guide again and again.

We enjoyed very much our tour with Hannah. She was very knowledgeable about Picasso’s life and with a charming personality! Being a painter herself, that brought a different light to the subject! Unfortunately in this tour the guide cannot accompany us inside the museum... That was disappointing at first, but we sat down over coffee and Hannah explained to us the exposition and the specific painting we would see from a book she had, which was very helpful! We did the 10 tastings of Barcelona with Elvira. As a family of four ( 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 13), we had very different preferences for food. She adjusted quickly and made sure we had a great tour. As it was our first day in Barcelona, and we were very jet-lagged, we were not as hungry as we should have been for such a tour, so she quickly pivoted and included some walking and historic tour of the City. Sebastian was punctual and waiting for us with a big smile, that made us feel like old friends from the first moment we met. He guided us through delicious local tapas and patisseries at unique local spots that we would never had found without a Host :) Between spots he told interesting stories and fun facts about the city. The whole tour was a perfect balance between a laid back and well organized local experience. Thanks to his actor skills, he is a great communicator and sociable, which made our time together truly enjoyable! What an amazing experience! I can't even just call it a tour, it was definitely an experience! Alan was amazing and really went above and beyond! We ate so much delicious food, trying things we hadn't yet as well. He picked great places to stop. Drink recommendations to pair with our food was great as well. Now comes the best part...Alan our guide, friend, host, teacher... He was AMAZING! So much knowledge shared in such a wonderful way! To say he went above and beyond is an understatement! He showed us so much. You could tell he loved being there sharing his knowledge of the beautiful city of Barcelona as much as we did! Elvira was patient as we got lost and were running behind and greatly appreciate her flexibility!
