We were a group of 6, and Elvira’s foodie knowledge and passion for Barcelona was outstanding. We talked about all sorts of topics including current affairs and traditional Spanish life. I can't say enough good things about our tour with Gonzalo! He was so amazing that I sent my sister his info while we were on the tour because she's heading to Barcelona nextnweek. We booked the market tour with him and it was perfection! He shared a ton of history as we walked between tours and we also sampled some amazing local items. He clearly had a relationship with the vendors and they treated us all so kindly. I loved hearing the history of some of the food. He was a fun and happy guide and my kids have compared every guide to him since we got off. This was to be a multicultural experience but it was really a Catalan experience. The first food stop was great and well planned but the remaining stops were not well executed. She asked us what we wanted but being unfamiliar that was useless. She mentioned her budget a few too many times being this was not a bargain tour. Two of us have severe fish and seafood allergies but she didn’t get it. Also a poor communicator, I had to confirm with her the day before. Not recommended. Interesting tour of the markets

Tour is billed as a customized tour to the clients taste. Far from the truth in our experience. At first greeting were told exactly what we were going to do even though we had said we did not want to go to a certain market as we had been already and found exactly what we did not want there. Silvina was very pleasant person but never asked anything about our wishes. Very cookie cutter tour. Don’t waste your money go to the markets yourself. Maybe we were not forceful enough but should we have to be?A lot of $ for a minimal experience

It was a great introduction to Spanish food and we had several dishes that I wouldn’t have tried on my own which were excellent. Maria really showed her passion for food, Barcelona and Catalán. I asked her to speak to me in Spanish because I need more practice in listening and understanding. She was very easy to understand. She spoke clearly and at a good pace. She took me to the best places and we had lots of dishes I wouldn’t have known to order on my own. Maria also explained a lot of historical things like places, culture and politics. She found an event that was happening and encouraged me to go. It was a Spring Castellers performance. I was able to go a few days later and it was the highlight of my trip. This was such a great tour and I felt like Maria was my friend.Great food tour and more.

The food tour with Elvira was one of the highlights of our family trip to Barcelona! We explored two traditional markets and La Bocadaria on La Rambla. Elvira explained the history of the markets to Barcelona and the continuing importance of these markets today. At the first market, Elvira walked us past a number of different stalls—explaining a variety of local dishes and encouraging us to pick out samples to try. Along the way, Elvira explained a lot about Catalan traditions and how these may differ from other parts of the country. We sat and enjoyed several dishes at a tapas bar in the market. The food was absolutely incredible! We took a walk through La Bocadaria on La Rambla and then on to another local market on the other side of the Cathedral of Barcelona. Similar to the first market, we wandered past several stalls and then settled in at Bar Joan to try a bunch of different dishes. Elvira was sure to pick dishes based on our tastes and interests and was eager to hear about whether we liked them or not. Elvira is passionate about her culture and Barcelona. It was wonderful to spend the day with her exploring the markets and trying new foods that as visitors we would have never thought to try. Elvira made exploring new foods easy and fun! Elvira was a fantastic guide for our food-tasting experience at some of the local markets. At each place we stopped she helped us select traditional Catalan foods to try and explained their history and significance with clear passion for her native country. We had lots to choose from and no strong preferences or aversions so we let Elvira do most of the choosing. I was impressed with she managed to quickly find space for us to sit for counter service at each place we visited despite it being busy lunchtime at clearly popular venues. Although it was a rainy day we enjoyed walking though the Raval and Gotic neighborhoods and most of the tour was indoors under covered markets. The food was delicious and Elvira shared recommendations for other places to explore in the city. We left very full and had to take some of our desserts in take-away bags!A taste of real Catalunya!

We did a couple of tours with Elvira while we were in town with our parents and would highly recommend you do the same! We did the the Gaudi/Architectural tour and the Marketing tasting tour because those were the things we were interested in but I would not hesitate to book any of her tours. Elvira was wonderful at putting things in context of history and local life with a great energy that made everything fun. Bianca was so nice and clearly passionate about food. She easily changed the tour around our preferences which was local, savoury, and wine. The 3 hours flew by. In the end we tasted and learnt about all things local, including where the locals go to avoid tourists like us! We went back to the markets and cellar afterwards and constructed our own tapas dinner, delicious 😋. It was perfect to see her at the start of our 3 weeks in Spain. We had a great experience exploring the food and Jewish history of Barcelona with Ilona. While the food aspect was fun and yummy, the Jewish component was very special. She went out of her way to research certain aspects of the history to enhance our tour. She even regrouped with us a second day so that we could experience some things that were closed on the Saturday we originally booked. She was smart and pleasant and flexible and interesting. Lusi took our tour on with very little notice when another guide became ill, so kudos for that. She was very energetic and made sure that we got the whole market experience. We originally expressed some reluctance to go to the Boqueria market as we had heard that there were many tourists there. To her credit, Lusi talked us out of that, saying that it was the biggest and most interesting market and she was right. After our tour, we needed to get to La Sagrada Familia for a tour there. I was proving very difficult to find a cab, so Lusi showed us how to get there on the Metro and we just made it on time. Good job Lusi.Barcelona Markets Tour

First, I would like to say what a pleasure it was to meet Maria. She is a true foodie and has a love of what she does. Maria is very knowledgable about the history and culture of Barcelona. Before we started our tour, she explained to us about the history of Barcelona using her own maps that she brought with her. This helped orient us and made us appreciate what we were experiencing. As we visited each market, she pointed out the traditional catalan foods and how some of the dishes were prepared. We sampled very delicious foods along the way. We had a lovely lunch at a local resturant. You don't have to worry about the language barrier, she is very fluent in english and she does all the ordering and communicating with all the vendors. You can ask her any question and she is always happy to explain. I highly recommend Maria to anyone visiting Barcelona, it is worth every penny. At the end of the trip, she gave us a link to her website which had a lot of suggestions for resturants, bars and cafes. Thank you Maria for a most memorable day.An Amazing Experience

Sometimes when you book a tour months in advance, things are a bit different the day of the actual tour. That's when it pays to have a true local as a guide. Laura did an excellent job adjusting on the fly to holidays that caused many things to be closed at the last minute. With a bit of flexibility, her deep local knowledge, and a commitment to showing us the best of Barcelona, we had a great time in spite of diverting from the original plan. The tour got off to a strong start. We were enjoying learning about the markets, Barcelona and Tomas. Midway through the pace felt increasingly rushed and the tour came to strange end (more than an hour early) when the intended dessert location was not open. We took a late morning tour with Lusi and it was amazing ! She was friendly and personable and took shared interest in us. We met Lusi at a cafe where discussed our mutual backgrounds before staring our tour. My wife is pregnant and Lusi was extremely attentive to her needs with walking and hydration and overall making sure she was okay. Lusi was extremely informative and you can tell she has a passion for sharing her knowledge and culture with guests . All of our food stops were amazing and she did a phenomenal job introducing us to the local flair and culture ! She was the best 10/10 ! We will def be back to visit Lusi !
