Thanks to Claudio, our 31/2 hour preflight time in Amsterdam was great. He took us to two fishing villages. His knowledge of the area was a perfect addition to the scenery. May 6,2019... Spent 1/2 a day with Claudio with my travel partner exploring the Dutch Villages Volendam and Marken. He was very knowledgeable about the history and current affairs of Amsterdam, and presented the information in a non hurried fashion allowing for questions in between. Not only did we discuss the tour but talked of all sorts of things, it was like spending the day with a good friend. I would encourage everyone to book a tour with this good soul. If we could have requested the most knowledgeable (historical, current trends, political reasons and why it all fits to make Holland work today) guide we picked a winner in Marten. He couldn't have been more personable, knowledgeable and an extremely able communicator. We felt like old friends chatting about everything from our first handshake to our last goodbye. I can not say enough good about Claudio! From the very beginning of our reservation he was very helpful, replying to messages immediately and helping us feel at ease in the meeting spot/time since we were on a tight schedule. Then our flights were changed and we had to move dates, he was not obligated to accommodate but had the new date available, so we were all set. But Delta made our time in Amsterdam go from 9 hours to one hour so our tour was off. Through the entire process he was great, and we plan on a longer trip to Amsterdam in the future and hope he will be available! Thank you.Amazing Service

My father and I had a wonderful time with Claudio exploring the small towns of Volendam and Marken. We were there during the off season which allowed us to experience the town without a sea of other tourist’s. It is a beautiful place that you must experience for your self. We had a lovely tour of Amsterdam with our tour guide Elvina. We had never taken a "Withlocals" type of tour before. The experience of being shown around Amsterdam on a private tour with someone who did not deliver a rehearsed speech was our favorite outing in Amsterdam. Elvina made us feel like we were old friends of hers visiting her in Amsterdam. She took us to interesting places with lovely stories and asked us entertaining questions to include us in the tour experience. We spent a morning with Kawika on a World War II walking tour of Amsterdam, and it ended up being so much more than just a history lesson. While he covered the WWII material thoroughly and thoughtfully, he also wove in broader context about the city and the people. Kawika made an effort to get to know our family—what we’d seen so far, what we were curious about and shaped the experience to fit us perfectly. Rather than delivering a scripted tour, he made it conversational, responding to our questions and observations as we went. It felt organic, not rehearsed. He’s warm, personable, and so knowledgeable, never overwhelming. We truly enjoyed spending the morning with him. Time flew by, and both of our teenagers wished the tour had lasted longer… which says everything. We’d recommend him without hesitation.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We took a bike tour with Annet as a family (two parents and two teenagers) and it was honestly one of the top highlights of our whole trip. It took a minute to get used to the back-pedal brakes, but Annet's positive and enthusiastic energy helped us get comfortable quickly. She made something that might have felt intimidating—biking through a busy city—feel totally doable and fun. We saw parts of Amsterdam we never would have found on our own and felt like locals weaving through the streets and canals. Best of all, she also happens to be an incredible photographer. She captured some of our favorite photos from the entire trip—honestly, she’s both a tour guide and a professional photographer in one. This tour had all of us engaged (and if you’ve ever traveled with teenagers, you know that says a lot). Highly, highly recommend!

Our group of 4 had a wonderful tour with Arunabha. We covered many steps and Arunabhas history of Amsterdam and Australia was amazing. He even taught us things about Australia that we didn't know! Annett was very informative and took us to several interesting places. However we did not understand why her feelings for President Trump were involved in the tour. What does that have to do with the history of Amsterdam? She was obviously wanting us to engage in a discussion about American politics but we were not interested in that. We have our beliefs but we are on vacation and wanting to relax, not argue. My father and I had already spent several days in Amsterdam doing most of the touristy stuff (museums, canal tour, etc) and to have a local like Olga share her expertise and knowledge helped elevate our time here. We had already seen most of the things she showed us, but never knew what it was. Many of the things she showed us were truly hidden gems you might read about in a guide book but never find on your own! Truly a worthwhile experience. Marten immediately made my granddaughter and I feel comfortable. He was warm and engaging to both of us . His knowledge, expertise and experience makes him a top notch tour guide. His skill at making history and art so interesting to not only me, but also my 16 year old granddaughter, was so appreciated. We were lucky enough to have booked two separate tours with him . The first one was the Jewish history tour, which was very moving, and so worthwhile before we went to the Anne Frank House . It gave us a better understanding of Jewish life in Amsterdam before and after the holocaust. The other tour we took with Marten was of the Van Gogh Museum and Van Gogh himself. His story telling skills made learning about Van Gogh so very intriguing. His ability to draw attention to relevant things that one could easily overlook was so appreciated. Walking and talking while interweaving philosophical viewpoints made it even more thought provoking. It was very special to learn from this wonderful guide. We actually bumped into Marten the day after our tour and we were all so excited to see each other. Amazing tour guide

Marten K. is an exceptional storyteller. At the Van Gogh Museum, he wove an intricate and captivating story of Vincent Van Gogh’s life as a mentally unstable, yet brilliant artist, highlighting the numerous artistic innovations he pioneered. He connected Van Gogh’s artistic accomplishments through his early days in Holland, then in Paris and finally in other French locations, including his one-year stay at a mental asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. He detailed Van Gogh’s many relationships with Gaugin and other Impressionists. Throughout his telling of Van Gogh’s life story, he highlighted Vincent’s relationship with his younger brother, Theo, who loved and supported him throughout his life. Marten gave my wife and me many fresh insights that I had not heard in my art studies in college or learned in visits to other museums and exhibits with Van Gogh paintings. Our Van Gogh tour with Marten was so enlightening and memorable that we’d, without hesitation, use him for other tours he offers.Marten K. is the best guide you’ll find!

We wanted someone to show us around the less-travelled NSDM area of Amsterdam. Elvina a was just great, had a good knowledge of the area and we really enjoyed our time. She was patient as we wandered through the museum and then directed us to a great restaurant and suggested a number of dishes to try. Martin expertly guided us through the Van Gogh and Rijks Museums. He has a deep knowledge of the artists and the art including artistic influences, time periods, and life circumstances. Martin also gave us background on the buildings including origins and newer editions and modifications. We especially appreciated his guidance through the Rijks Museum which is massive and crowded. We enjoyed walking through the old part of Amsterdam with focus on the pre-war Jewish neighborhoods. Martin has a strong command of history both local and global. He was able to contextualize a lot of what we were learning. We asked to end the tour at a particular time at or near the Anne Frank House. Martin accommodated us nicely with this.Informative

We have been fortunate to participate in many, many tours. There is a huge difference between a generic tour guide and a host. In addition to possessing a passion for history, a deep sense of Dutch pride and an easy manner, Marten is an enthusiastic and personable host.
