We opted for Boyd for his background as history teacher and we wanted to see other parts of Berlin than the usual highlights. Well, we couldn’t have wished for anything better. We had a really great bike tour in the S/ SE part of the center of Berlin. Along the way Boyd shared his impressive knowledge of Berlin’s history, architecture, political past, etc. and we appreciated the ample time he gave us for a very pleasant interactive Q&A every time we halted a yet another interesting site. Boyd is one of those guides whose head is full with information about the city he lives in. And he is happy to share it with you. We had a great four hour walking tour through Berlin Mitte and in the Tempelhof/Kreuzberg area. Asked to tell and show us some specifics of the Bismarck/Gründerzeit era, he had no trouble doing so. Would recommend Boyd for anyone who wants to learn more about Berlin and German history in a fascinating tour. Very informative

Boyd has shown himself as being a super friendly guide. Very knowledgeable sharing his love for the city. He has a good eye for the smallest of things. We had a flat tire along the way, and with no taxi with sufficient load capacity for a bike in site, we got the additional experience of a walking tour and riding the subway with our bikes. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Boyd through the streets of Berlin. He was a wealth of knowledge and a World War II history buff. So we fit right in. We asked him to show us how the trains work and how to get from point A to point B. We learned a lot from our walks amongst historical sites and monuments. Riding a bike in Berlin is the perfect way to get an overall feel of the city and because you are on bike, you can move around in the city fast. Boyd was the perfect guide. As he said, he loved to talk, and we were there to listen. We had a great 3 hour bike ride where he painted us a picture of how berlin came to be, how everyday life was spanning over the last 150year. Obviously 2nd world war and the Berlin Wall was a part of the picture, but it was not the focus of this tour (by our own request). We can 100% recommend Boyd as a guide and a bike ride as a tour. Regarding price, we where two people so obviously the price per person is higher. But i would do it all over again. Worth every penny!!See the hidden side of berlin

My husband, son and I were taken on a wonderful tour of Berlin by bicycle, all curated and guided by Boyd. While most Berlin tourism is focused on the centre of the city, this was covering the periphery, lesser known but important landmarks and eastern neighbourhoods. Brilliantly brought to life by Boyd! Our family recently spent half a day with Boyd on a historical tour of Berlin and had the most wonderful and fantastic time. Boyd was simply a veritable fountain of knowledge on all things Berlin be it the city’s history, buildings, culture, things to do, etc. Boyd isn’t a guide that simply points out what building you are seeing on “your left”, rather he skillfully weaves a narrative throughout the tour that puts what you are seeing into a historical context which leaves visitors to Berlin with an understanding and appreciation of the complex history of Berlin and he ties it all to the Berlin we see and experience today. Being history geeks, we peppered Boyd with questions, and he expertly, carefully, and patiently answered every single one. Our group included a couple of teenagers and Boyd easily managed to keep their interest also. Boyd gave a very unique perspective of Berlin that didn’t solely focus on the more popular historical sites and monuments. Instead he gave a holistic view of Berlin that included a perspective into the day to day lives of Berlin citizens sprinkling in historic context that informs modern society today. I loved touring the cute neighborhoods by bike and seeing areas and a side of Berlin I probably otherwise wouldn’t have. Boyd has done an amazing job in showing us around the city and telling us a lot of stories. He doesn’t only touch the main history but also talks about the architecture of buildings and the cold war. We learned a lot of stuff we otherwise would have missed. Boyd has a nice way of explaining with examples and a great voice to listen too. My parents and I had a wonderful tour with Boyd. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and never minded answering any questions we had. He took us to some places we wouldn't have found on our own. Boyd was our excellent guide for the History of Berlin WWII tour. He took us to locations we could never have found on our own. The tour provided us with such an informative and fascinating insight into the very human stories that lie behind the historical headlines. Our tour route took us from the rarer late 1870/1880's buildings to those which are post WWII (though they appear older). Boyd's knowledge was fantastic. We have often travelled to Berlin to visit friends and family, covering the tourist spots through to local events. This time we decided we wanted to learn about the True Berlin, what has made it so unique and the people so open to accepting the varient of cultures and classes. Boyd went off script to show us what we had not seen and took us through the centuries, religon, different classes into an era where you started to get the glimpse of what makes Berlin so unique. We went through what we thought were private courtyards into the back streets which are hidden to only those that are local. We saw inside of buildings that have been instrumental in evolving the history of this nation. Boyd is well known on the circuit and this enabled us to see parts of Berlin a normal soul would not have access to. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Berlin. Our guide Boyd took really good care of us.
