Beatriz was fantastic! She is so personable with a wonderful personality! We were shown lots of local museums and historical spots that were within walking distance of our location near the Visitor’s Center. We walked through the nearby park that we didn’t realize was so close. She showed us the Original Santini’s and we bought gelatos. And Beatriz noticed that I accidentally booked the same tour twice, and was flexible in starting time because it was unseasonably warm. Thanks again Beatriz for a fabulous tour of Cascais! Artur was amazing. His knowledge is outstanding, anecdotes and information about every corner we visited. His enthusiasm for this beautiful city was so engaging. He had answers to all of our questions and showed us how to get about on public transport - quite handy with all the hills! To mention, i was one hour too early - my mistake. He was not far away and agreed to come immediately. What a service! The tour itself was really a pleasure. Good variation between history, culture, we tasted the best pasteis de nata in the city, etc. The pace was up to us to determine. Our four hour walking tour of Lisbon with Arthur on 20 May 24 was amazing. He made the old neighbourhoods come alive with his acecdotes and historical perspective. He took us to local nooks and viewpoints which we would have found by ourselves. Our trip far exceeded the stipulated time but Arthur cherfully went along with us and also gave us invaluable tips for planning the rest of our Lisbon stay. Thanks Arthur! We have used With Locals in Budapest and had a great experience, this was not the same in Cascais. Our first tour guide cancelled and we were passed to Julia. We were concerned as there was a review where she had not shown up. I had messaged Julia, she was slow to reply but did respond, so wasn’t immediately concerned. I followed up again 48 hours before our appointment to confirm meeting location but no response. I called and messaged the following day and I eventually got a message from Julia to say she was cancelling on us. This was a birthday treat for our friend which Julia was aware of. Julia in her message said we had to organise our own refund and she would recommend restaurants! Julia then didn’t bother to do that! Awful, do not use! How do we get our money back? Terrible! Do not book with Julia!

Artur was simply a fantastic guide. He knows so much about Lisbon—its history, culture, food (steering us to the best Nata in town), hidden nooks and crannies, as well as really helpful shortcuts, elevators, and transit tips to help us navigate Baixa, Alfama and surrounding areas. He was so generous with his time because, as he says, “He doesn’t even look at the clock.” Beyond making the day great, he gave us SO many tips for things we were planning for the rest of our time in Lisbon and the Algarve, even checking in with us via email to see how we fared and to give even more suggestions as he thought of them. We walked around Lisbon together. He is patient and attentive, and we can see that he really takes pleasure in wanting to make us discover the Portuguese art of living. We have a personalised tour with Arthur which was a really good price as he only charged us for the tour and not added extras so we could pay for what we wanted to try, Arthur took us round many historical sights and told us the history behind them all which was so interested it really got us into the Lisbon culture, I would defiantly recommended arthur to anyone! His English is great so not hard to understand He let us choose a lot of the tour which was really good! Told us tips and places we need to visit! ...just got back to the States from my Euro trip. I was in Lisbon for a few hours on a Friday afternoon, at the end of September. My host Artur made that short time feel like a well rounded insight into Lisbon's life in the present and in the past. It was like exploring a city you already know and love with an old friend. And what a beautiful city it is! We walked countless streets, alleys, steps and hidden corners, saw beautiful architecture and tried delicious treats. I saw Lisbon from many top-of-a-hill viewpoints, learned the story behind every building, square and statue we passed by, and still got left with a hint that every time I come back, there will always be more to explore and learn.
