I enjoyed Tibi’s company—he’s very knowledgeable about the history of the area and makes an effort to introduce you to unique local dishes. I have been doing a lot of travelling through Europe for the past few years and this was by far the most disappointing food tour I have ever been on ! The website and other food tour reviews seemed fine so we felt this would be a good experience. The amount that we paid 37000 HUF per person did not come close in value to the disappointing food and experience. NO alcohol pairings at all for a dinner tour except 2oz wine at first place.! I have never seen this esp for high priced tours that advertise drink pairings. We were barely offered water unless we asked! Only 4 stops, bite size samples first, strudel piece with NO drink we had eat while walking, sausage at dirty place , street chimney cake , asked to share and get plain one. It appeared that our guide was not planned and tour not customized before as a private tour. It also appeared that everthing was done on the cheap so I am not sure if the company or guide pay for the food. Most of the time was spent walking . The guide was nice and I am sure does great history or other tours but this was by no means even acceptable as an advertised food tour for this price and I have done many. This is the first poor travel experience review I have written in my life but was so disturbed by the quality of this experience as my first time using Withlocals vs other sites. Very disappointed customer :( Extremely poor value

Beata was a great guide who taught us a lot about Hungarian food (since it was a food tour.) She found us easily and made sure we didn’t get too hot in the above normal temperatures. She also shared her love of Budapest and her life with us, which was wonderful. Her English was great and very understandable. Thank you Gabor for a highly informative and candid two-hour food tour in Budapest's Central Market Hall. We enjoyed hearing about the area's rich culinary culture, history and of course, its love affair with paprika! We sampled a variety of sweet and savoury local foods and enjoyed each bite. I especially loved Marika and her pickles, and the grilled sausage was excellent. We had some of our leftover chimney cake with coffee this morning. Tiberiu war uns von Beginn an sehr sympathisch. Er hat uns an den einzelnen Stationen etwas zur Stadt und zu den Gerichten erklärt. Die Tour dauert 2 Stunden. Wir hätten uns noch mindestens eine Station mehr gewünscht. Dazu blieb aber leider kein Zeit mehr.Interessante Foodtour durch Budapest

Tibi was an excellent guide. My original guide got sick and had to cancel, I was able to book Tibi for a food tasting in the Jewish area last minute. He worked with my schedule and we had a lovely time wondering around, eating and learning about this historical area of Budapest. Tibi was a delightful guide around central Budapest. He is very knowledgeable about the history and cuisine of Hungary. He took us to two lovely cafes where the ambience was as delicious as the food. We also enjoyed street food as we walked through the city. At the end of the tour he escorted us to the Ruins Bars and recommended restaurants for dinner. Met with Zsofia after a long drive from Prague to Budapest. She helped find us a bank for an ATM to void fees before getting food. She took us to some great places and helped me with my Hungarian. We also had some drinks. At one place I like my wine and her wine, so I bought a bottle of each. At one point we called our hungarian friend in the states that is meeting us and had Zsofia talked to her in Hungarian. I could not remember the name of the ruin bar I had found, but our friend did. Zsofia knew it and liked it. We will go there when our friend arrives in Budapest. Zsofia was very friendly and was always looking out for us. She had no issue talking about herself and her experiences. We had a great time and highly recommend Zsofia.Zsofia is the best

There are not enough superlatives to describe what an incredible tour guide Gabor is! He was very personable, immensely knowledgeable about the city and its history, took us places that were never even on our radar, but were truly hidden gems, and knew how to be flexible and keep both a Baby Boomer and Generation Zer interested and engaged. He let us experience a variety of different public transportation modes while getting us around the city, and really made us feel like locals. On top of that, he was on time and stayed late. This was a 4 hour tour of the major sites of Budapest. We wanted to see as much of the city as possible and really gave us a great overview of the city and its history. We hired Nicholas for a five hour private walking tour of Budapest. Communication was good in advance of the tour. Nicholas had an incredible knowledge of Hungarian history, including recent history, and a gift for explaining everything in a way that was understandable. I felt like we walked away with some understanding of life in Budapest and in Hungary more generally. The tour with Zsofia was an absolute highlight of my stay in Budapest. We started at Heroes-Square, and from there continued through the beautiful city park. Zsofia always took time and explained the sights and culture in a very engaging way. What I especially enjoyed was that she showed us many places I would never have discovered on my own.
