Recently we did a food tour with Adri. It’s great way to get introduced to food you may not order e.g. Cazón en adobo especially if you aren’t a fluent Spanish speaker. The food in the central Market was amazing - as was the vermouth to wash it down. Adri was great also explaining about general day to day life in Cádiz as well as giving us the history background. After the tour she messaged with the name of everything we had eaten so we knew how to order it again and also a list of restaurants/ wine bars she recommended. All the ones we had time to try were greatGreat intro to food in Cadiz

Joanna was an enthusiastic and engaging guide. She made us feel very comfortable straight away, gave us a view of the history of Cadiz and showed us some of the idiosyncrasies of the city. Some of the food experiences we would never have found on our own, she was able to talk about the provenance of the foods we tasted and we felt we were eating like the locals. My rating is not a criticism of Our guide Christina. She was interesting and tried to find tapas that we hadn’t tried yet. Our first try with her had to be rescheduled, because at the time of the original tour, everything was closed. Second time around was much better. We visited two different tapas places. One in the middle of the tourist area, the second definitely a local hangout. The site for the tours is very badly set up. Most of the times offered don’t take into consideration that everything in Cadiz shuts down from around 2-3 till 8pm. The price charged for the tour was highway robbery. I just hope the guide gets a decent portion of it. We paid €177 for the 2 of us. For that money we could have had dinner at the most expensive restaurant in Cadiz!Christina is a very good guide

We had a fantastic few hours in Cadiz with Joanna. Arriving on a cruise ship she met us right outside the port. We were a family group of ages 8-70 and Joanna accommodated all very well. We tried some wonderful food that was different to what we would try by ourselves in some fascinating places. Having visited Cadiz 3 times before we learnt loads we didn’t know and saw new places. As fairly typical reserved Brits, we simply wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the variety and exquisite flavours of Cádiz without Joanna’s friendly expertise. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Joanna made our time in Cádiz unforgettable. She customized the tour based on things we wanted. We loved that she took us off the tourist path and ordered things for us to try. We ate and drank our way through the city. 😋 Even though this wasn’t a historic tour, she knew we loved history and she shared her knowledge with us as we walked along the tour. She has a wealth of information to hand and conveys her love of this region with great passion. We had group of 21 and Cristia was wonderful with us. We had a 3 hour walking tour which turned into a 4 hour tour as there was so much to see and Cristina was so entertaining. She even took us to a local spot for us to try muscatel and danced for us. Cristina was super responsive from the moment I sent in my first inquiry to the time she met us at the cruise port. Adrian was a delightful, friendly, knowledgeable, informative and 'fun to be with' guide. Every establishment we visited had marvellous food, generous drinks and a friendly welcome. We sampled so many different delicious dishes, lunch lasted from 12.00 midday until 3.30! I was particularly impressed by Adri's enthusiasm for Cadiz and her ability to adapt to the circumstances. We were passing a stall in the market (she expected to be closed) that had just opened so we stopped there because the anchovy skewers are so good.. Thank you Adri for a wonderful afternoon. We booked Joanna on the With Locals website and had to make a couple of amends to timing due to the weather forecast. Not a problem at all, and Joanna kindly agreed to meet us at the Parador where we were staying. This meant our itinerary had to be amended slightly but, honestly, you could not find a more enthusiastic, knowledgeable and inspirational guide to introduce you to this millennia old and very proud independent city. Cadiz is so charming, the people so lovely and the history quite breath taking. We met at 11.00 and, on the dot of 12 midday we were treated to a breakfast Jerez - a very dry Manzanilla - with olives to put a little extra spring in our step. Joanna's knowledge of Cadiz, having lived there for over six years, was awesome, her English of course perfect, and she is known by the traders in the food market, so a table quickly became reserved for us whilst we went around ordering specialist tapas. She had so many tips and contacts we are now able to tap into, including places to visit throughout the Cadiz province. So professional and lovely, we cannot recommend her enough!
