Host was nice but the tour was lacking consistently on the vegetarian tapas options. Per description we expected 6 local tastings. We had 3 ( tortilla, plain olives , queso manchego). In addition the host showed us Torrons Vicens, a chocolate place that offers samples to anyone visiting. One of us didn’t drink alcohol, the two cocktails offered weren’t replaced in more food options either sadly. Overall not vegetarian friendly and poor price value. Not vegetarian friendly

Yulia was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-! We met around 9:30 AM and set about on a brisk morning walk to kickstart our tour. Having hit many of the "must see" sights already, we were looking for a unique experience to fully immerse us into the local culture and 'off the beaten path' sights. Yulia 100% met our expectations and even delivered beyond. Her historical knowledge was on point, not to mention her knowledge on fun facts, neighborhoods, diversity, local customs, etc. We learned so much today of a 'behind the scenes' view. We asked many questions and Yulia indulged us each and every time. We definitely recommend the tour as you will be exposed to an experience that the locals live on a daily basis. We covered many miles in walking, so wear comfortable shoes! We really appreciated the coffee break to rest our feet and to chat comfortably over coffee, tea and beer. We did have a hiccup in our meeting point which we assume responsibility for as we should have abided by the confirmation note in WhatsApp vs. the booking details in withlocals.com. Yulia, however, was incredibly patient and accommodating and was so very kind to us not holding our hiccup against us.Magical Madrid

Majo (Maria Jose) was pure joy and a beautiful welcome to Madrid for our first time in the city! Her communications leading up to our meeting were timely, the meeting location was discovered with ease, and her promptness of arrival was appreciated. From the moment we met Majo, we felt like family, especially after being greeted with a warm and welcoming hug. The tour highlights were wonderful learning a lot about hot spots of the city. My husband and I soaked up the history of the Monarchy of Madrid, the gastronomy culture, and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to attend 7pm mass at The Cathedral immediately following our tour. Ari was wonderful. In spite of our visit being right in the middle of the Christmas holiday, Ari worked with us to schedule and navigate the uber busy street to have one of the best tours we have been on. Although we weren’t sure what to expect with a ‘food tour’ of the city, we got so much more and really got a full city tour with food. We highly recommend Ari, she is wonderful. Our tour with Majo was lovely. The stories made the palace and cathedral very interesting and come alive. Since we were hungry we diverted our tour to a tapa tour! My wife and I went with our adult son and we had a great afternoon with Ariadna and here grandmother (Abuela). We really enjoyed helping Abuela make gazpacho and paella, but the really special part was being welcomed into their home and treated like family. My son speaks Spanish and therefore was able to forge a special bond with Abuela. My wife also has food allergies and they catered the menu around them. It was a memorable experience which we highly to anyone visiting Madrid. Fabulous experience

We did the Kick Start tour of Madrid the first day we arrived. Great way to get a lay of the land. 90 minutes was perfect. Our guide Ariadna was wonderful. Energetic with an exuberant love of the city she has grown up in. We went by the major sights in the city center. She shared a wonderful street that is frequented by locals, which we ended up loving for dinner, or just stopping in for wine and tapas. Booking through withlocals is easy, and there’s great communication. I highly recommend this tour this company and especially Ariadna!Fabulous way to start the trip

I had high hopes for this food and wine tour. We selected Mateo as our tour guide since he would provide us also with some history of Madrid while taking us to places where locals eat and drink. We selected the time slot of 6-9pm on a Sunday since it was available. We didn’t think this would cause any issues. We were wrong. Instead of experiencing “The 10 tastings of Madrid” we mainly experienced a history tour. In the end we only experienced 4 shareable appetizers and 2 wines or beers per person. The majority of the time was spent walking past places that we would have eaten at if they weren’t closed, which was a lot of places. At this point I’m not sure who’s to blame—the organization that allows these time slots to be available or the tour guide who should have done a better job of planning out our stops to make sure locations were open or providing us with more food options at the limited stops we had. Either way we definitely DID NOT get our money’s worth the more we had time to reflect on the tour. It’s very frustrating to know how much money we spent for the small amount of food and drinks we got on this tour considering we had an amazing experience in Portugal doing the same thing but with completely different results. It would be great if some form of refund is provided due to fact that we didn’t get what was advertised. Skip This Tour, Venture On Your Own
