Rolando was an amazing guide, starting us off right off with the tlayuda in the market! I won't give away the rest of the amazing dishes and drinks we were able to try, but this was a top-notch tour with an extremely friendly and foodie guide - Rolando. He listened to our needs, as we didn't want to overeat as we have on other food tours, but we still got to try some of the best food we had on the entire trip! We did the Culinary Experience with Raquel and we absolutely loved it. Not only does Raquel know a lot about the foods that are an important part of the Oaxacan culture but she has relationships with many of the vendors. She chatted with them as friends and treated everyone with respect. We tried crickets (not required!) and mole sauces plus so many delicious dishes I can’t remember the names of them all. Raquel was easy to talk to, and loves the culture and people of Oaxaca. Her enthusiasm was infectious and made us want to know more. She also gave us great recommendations on restaurants and other must-see cultural sites. We did the culinary experience with Raquel and it was amazing - we learned not only a lot about Oaxaca’s native foods but also about the culture and how everything ties together. One of the things I have noticed since being in Oaxaca is how proud the people are of their culture and heritage and that certainly came through during Raquel’s tour. We not only sampled many of the items in the market but she also explained how it fit into their culture. She also took us to a cultural museum and made suggestions for other things we might want to consider while we’re visiting Oaxaca. Overall it was a great experience and would highly recommend.Totally enhanced our Oaxaca experience!

We were so fortunate to book Raquel on our first day in Oaxaca, and I strongly suggest you do this! Not only did she give us an unbelievable introduction to Oaxacan food with the most respected vendors in the Benito Juarez market, she took us around town to familiarize us with several notable sites and artisan places which we were able to spend more time at later on. She also gave us an extensive list of restaurants, many of which we ate at and thoroughly enjoyed. Raquel is so energetic and enjoyable… truly felt like we were with an old friend. We loved our tour with Carlos. He was all the things you want a guide to be - warm, patient, friendly, articulate and extremely knowledgable. He took us to 4 spots and we thoroughly enjoyed them all. However, our favourite part of the tour was visiting the market - we tried so many things here that we never would have if not for Carlos! We loved that we were able to ask lots of questions about the ingredients and process for making things. As a local, Carlos is also friendly with individual stallholders so was able to tell us a little bit about their business and stories too. This made it even more special to eat their food. He also helped us buy some groceries, so we could continue the tasting tour when we got home. The were definitely more than 10 tastings and we left feeling very satisfied!! Would definitely recommend this tour if you are interested in Oaxaca's gastronomic highlights, and if possible, doing it at the beginning of your trip because you will definitely want to return to some of the places Carlos takes you to! Sofia was amazing! I can’t say enough good things about her. I asked for a personalized tour (seeing the sights I wanted rather than something already planned) and she was more than happy to accommodate. Spending the day with someone born and raised in Oaxaca was perfect. Rolando was knowledgeable, funny and easy going. His walking tour of downtown gave us a brief, yet informative overview of some of the architectural, cultural and historical highlights found here. While walking to several small art galleries, museums (e.g. Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú), and churches (e.g. Iglesia Santo Domingo), Rolando shared insights related to the urban planning layout of the city or the architectural style of the buildings or even his favorite street food vendors found along the way. It was magnificent. But perhaps the most unique experience from this tour was walking just outside the city limits to visit the last remaining tin and textile workshops in downtown Oaxaca. We Highly HIGHLY recommend Rolando. Excellent, Fun, Easy Going

We had a fabulous time from start to finish on our food tour with Carlos. He made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions as well as gave many, many other recommendations for cafes, bars, markets and street food which we explored over the following days. Being a vegetarian wasn’t a problem and all our taste buds were catered for from savoury to sweet, to fresh and unusual. Sofia has such a warm, positive and helpful personality. She was flexible with our needs given we had two young children. She was extremely knowledgeable of Oaxaca's history and modern day culture. We (a family of four) had a great experience with Alejandro as our tour guide through Oaxaca's city central. He took us to two mercados and we learned a lot about the culture and history of many of the items there. We did Raquel's "A Magical Evening in Oaxaca" tour the first night we arrived in Oaxaca. It was a great way to get orientated in a new city. What a delightful and delicious first morning in Oaxaca. Carlos shared his passion for Oaxacan cuisine with our family and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the street tacos, small local market where we ate tamales, tlayudas and drank tajete. We sampled exotic local fruit, sweets and even purchased mole to take home. We finished the tour with full tummies and lots of stories and knowledge about Oaxacan cuisine. It was perfect for us and our boys (12 and 10), the youngest who’s a little picky tried so many new flavours under Carlos gentle encouragement. Carlos is an absolutely great guide with a lot of knowledge of the traditional food and the local history. We had a wonderful time being guided through the city, tasting Tacos, Tamales, Tejate, local fruits and chocolate. He carefully selected the food we were able to taste due to food allergies. He also speaks fluent English so communication was very easy. In addition to tasting all the great food, he told us a lot about the Oaxacan culture and history. Our family of 4 enjoyed a tour and tasting of traditional Oaxacan food, hosted by Raquel. Raquel was engaging and friendly and shared her passion and knowledge for Oaxacan food and culture with us. We loved the market experience and tastings there, made more interesting by Raquel explaining some of the different foods, traditional, art work, etc. It was also lovely to see the relationships she has built over time with the market and food truck/restaurant vendors. Additionally, Raquel was so kind when my husband had to exit the tour due to an issue with his foot and walking too much the previous days. She arranged a taxi for him back to the hotel and also made sure we were able to get some special take away food for him from her favorite places.
