My sisters and niece have never been to Mallorca — while my husband and I have been here many times. We all learned so much with Alvaro! We went on an amazing 3 hour walk through Palma - stopping to taste Mallorcan delicacies! Alvaro knows where to go and what to order — some things, even as a chef, I have not tried before! Alvaro is knowledgeable and fun to spend an afternoon with in Palma. Definitely worth it and good for lots of age groups. Lots of walking - so littles may need a stroller if part of the group. My niece is 9! She did great! A wonderful afternoon with Alvaro!

10 tastings tour of Mallorca with Alvaro was one of the best experiences we had on our trip. Alvaro is obviously passionate about the city, it's history, and architecture. We stopped by 3 different places and tried multiple foods and drink from the area. I really can't say enough good things about this experience. Alvaro described so many details that we would not have known about otherwise. He was obviously friends with many of the locals. At each of the places we stopped to taste test he explained each dish and what it meant to the culture and even in some cases how it was prepared. I highly recommend this tour for any foodie and also recommend Alvaro, a great guide. Thank you Alvaro!One of the best experiences of our trip.

Our group of four girls started our 4-day stay in Palma with the '10 Local Food Tastings" with Álvaro and it was the highlight of our trip and a great way to find our bearings in this lovely, welcoming city. Álvaro was in touch ahead of our meeting, which was reassuring and met us at the appointed place at the agreed time and from the 'get-go' he was giving us chat, pointing out interesting places, facts and so on. Having spent time in Dublin working, his English was perfect and the chat and banter was great the whole way around the tour. The food at the local food market was interesting and challenging - offering those already familiar with Spanish cuisine the opportunity to try something new. Food wasn't his only passion; he truly loves Mallorca which was evident as we weaved around the city for some time before our next stop - which was welcome as the tapas at the food market was quite filling. We stopped at viewing points, churches and all sorts of interesting spots; Álvaro certainly knows Palma, and Mallorca in general, and was happy to share his knowledge recommending places to visit, to eat and drink and how to get about the island, if that's your thing. Next food stop was a tiny little family bar offering some lovely local delicacies and some fantastic Vermouth which was followed up by a visit to a beautiful traditional café to enjoy some wonderful Ensaïmada served with hot chocolate and refreshing sorbet. A short walk to the Plaça Major where Álvaro left us to continue on around the old town ourselves. In total, Álvaro spent more than 3 hours with us - it certainly didn't feel like that, but time flies when you are having fun!! Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this fun tour and would certainly recommend spending time in the company of Álvaro. For us the ten tastings were just perfect (although in total, I think we actually had more - five tapas, two different sandwiches with two different olives, a glass of Vermouth, some Ensaïmadas, sorbet and hot chocolate) but for people looking for a full-on foodie experience they might prefer something more focussed on just the food rather than the tour.Time flies when you are having fun!

This was my first time visiting Palma. I didn't want to wander around aimlessly, so I booked this tour. Alvaro was great. We hit the major sites, but he also took us around the narrow streets of the old town, pointing out so many things we would have never found on our own. Alvaro was a wonderful local to spend the day with. We originally booked a 90 minute tour of Palma but decided we wanted to explore the countryside and not have to worry about driving. So we met him at the car rental place and off we went to Andratx, Sant Elm, along the coast to Banyabufar and then to our favourite Valldemossa. Along the way we had interesting discussions with Alvaro about Mallorca and his travels and world events. He was open to talk about anything and we appreciated that. When we got back to Palma he extended the tour even further by taking us to a spot with beautiful views of Palma. We all agreed if we had rented the car on our own the day would have been a dud. Thanks Alvaro, it was a wonderful day spent with you. Wonderful informative host.

Natalia is a passionate and energetic guide, clearly beloved by her community and excited to share it with us. We started at Santa Catarina market where Natalia knew almost every vendor. We got to try numerous different items including sandwiches, tortilla, croquettes, and different types of alcohol (if we wanted). We then proceeded to walk and eat our way around Palma, stopping at places only a local would know about. We finished the trip at an incredible bakery, tasting a variety of sweet and savory foods and drinking hot chocolate. Even though it was pouring rain, we had an incredible time. Natalia was so excited because the gargoyles on the churches were all spitting water, which she said almost never happens. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in history, culture, and most importantly food!!Incredible insider tour

Myself and 3 friends went on the walking and tapas tour with Natalia on Saturday 26/10. The rain was lashing down but didn’t dampen our experience. Alvaro was very knowledgeable and showed and told us a lot about the city of Palma. But as a "10 tastings" tour, Alvaro's tour was a disappointment, especially compared with similarly promoted tours we have had in Lisbon and Vienna. As we started the tour, we informed Alvaro that the three of us were all on "low carb" diets (two of us are diabetics), so we prefer high-protein, low-carbohydrate foods. The first food stop was a tapas stall in a market, and Alvaro did not offer choices or ask what we would like -- instead he just ordered the traditional round Mallorcan potato rolls (coca de patata), which is loaded with carbs and fat nad is the last thing any of us would want. After getting the potato rolls we could see that traditional meatballs were available -- nothing special but they would have been good for us. After politely finishing as much of the potato rolls as we could, and Alvaro "scolding" us that the proprietor would be upset if we didn't eat all of the food that was offered, Alvaro begrudgingly finished what was left (he is slim and seems to eat very little himself). Before we left the tapas stall, I asked the proprietor what was the large, flat, crusted tapa on display right in front of me (which would be cut into squares for each plate ordered). He replied that it was tuna, which would have been perfect for us! From that moment, I got the impression that Alvaro simply wanted to order things that were cheap, since the cost of the food evidently comes from what he's paid, and we only stopped at three places and tasted well under 10 things total. On another 10-tastings tour, booked through Withlocals but in Lisbon, we went to 5-6 places and tasted over 15 different things, including 6 things at the very first place! I think that Alvaro could be alright on general Palma city tours, but avoid him for food tours. What we experienced was a city tour with a few snacks thrown in. 10 tastings of Palma tour with Alvaro

This was a super fun and unique experience. Myself and a group of friends spent the afternoon with Alvaro learning a plethora of information about the city, history and local cuisine. Alvaro was amazing. He truly loves the city and we left wanting to come back to Palma. We saw so much in 2.5 hours it was surprising. Great history lesson. This was a superb way to learn about the area. If you enjoy walking the city and seeing historic sites you should absolutely book time with Alvaro. He made it a fantastic day. A great value for my family of 4.Saw SO much!!
