We had a wonderful time in Italy, but without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip was the tour with Emma. Her food tour was not only steeped with Italian history and lessons in the language, but also on the local culture. Emma went above + beyond to personalize the experience based on our interests and preferences. It was a thoughtful tour through the citys culinary “landscape”, with a perfect balance of sweet + savory, w/ wine tasting, and visits to hidden gems we never would have found on our own. Yay! Emma herself was a delight— she was outgoing, friendly, and effortlessly funny. She exudes a charm that is distinctly Italian, blending warmth + wit in a way that made us feel immediately at ease. Emma is a really dynamic woman. She, her husband and son hosted us for a tremendous multi-course dinner at their quaint apartment in a wonderful area of Rome. We were their with our five children and all went extremely well, very real like new friends coming together. She showed us her techniques as well as old family recipes. It was a real real experience we will not forget. Thank you again so much Emma for hosting us from your new friends in Park City, Utah.

Emma uses a very effective, colorful teaching method. My husband didn’t know any Italian; now he feels much more confident on the long road to fluency and so do I knowing a little Italian. Emma also took us on a walking tour in a very nice, quiet and green neighborhood with only students and local people. Fnally she introduced us to an Enoteca with magnificent wines and local food. We had a wonderful traditional Christmas dinner with Emma and company! Not only was the food prepared perfectly, Emma had paired each dish with a wine and taught us about the origins of each dish we enjoyed. It was truly an incredible and unique experience to sit and enjoy a home-cooked meal with people from around the world. We left very full and very happy! Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Italy for the first time with 5 of my girlfriends. The very first excursion we scheduled was our dinner with Emma through Eating with Locals. Words cannot express what an awesome evening and experience our dinner with Emma was. We arrived on time and the table was set, waiting for us to devour our 4 course meal. Each meal was carefully prepared and delicious and there was no shortage of extras. We also had amazing wine and after dinner drinks. Emma was a gracious host and an amazing source of information for us first timers. I plan on visiting Italy again asap and will definitely book another dinner with Eating with Locals. Our experience with Emma was fantastic! There were 6 of us traveling as a group as well as one other person she was hosting at her apartment. Emma was very communicative before and after our experience with her. She made a really tasty 4 course traditional Italian meal that consisted of Antipasti, Pasta, Meat and Dessert. We had great wine and after dinner Aparatifs. I loved her cozy apartment which was super clean, warm and inviting. I highly recommended this type of experience especially if booking with Emma. Wonderful dinner with Emma - true Italian cuisine and inspired wines to match. My family truly enjoyed our meal, but even more we enjoyed Emma's conversation. She explained the courses, and talked about the markets where she shopped for our meal. Each course had a wine we could see that she had thoughtfully paired to make the tastes come alive on the palate. SInce I am a hobbyist chef myself, I marveled at the preparation - seemingly simple, but so perfectly executed. You will not find better roasted peppers in any trattoria, and the risotto was kissed with red wine. Her potatoes were a perfectly roasted - crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside. For dessert - Emma paired a chocolate sweet with an inspired wine we had never before tasted, and we ended up taking pictures of the label in the faint hope of finding it in America. Emma was a wonderful host, with interesting conversation and a beautiful setting. We hope to connect her to our friends and family when they visit Rome. We requested Emma for a semi customer tour. We only had one day in Rome. She combined a food tour and learn Italian tour. We had a very good time with Emma. She gave us some history, taught us about the food we tried. And the whole time she taught us Italian. She had study guides with her and flash cards. We tried food we didn't even know we should try. Enjoying previous times my husband and I have dined with locals during our travels, we wanted our adult children to experience how wonderful it was too.... so I searched for the perfect host. Enter Emma! After a few email exchanges and as we worked through the menu Emma made the best suggestion ever— she asked if we wanted to have a different wine with each course! Wine with every course and a willingness to take on a family of 8, that was it—I booked her! Getting to Emma’s apartment the night of the dinner was incredibly easy and when we were buzzed into the building there was this wonderful smell that we followed right to Emma’s door! All the food was AMAZING! From the first plate to dessert everything was perfectly and beautifully prepared and presented. And her wine pairings....were spot on! The time passed so quickly with all the food, wine and conversation—before we knew it, it was time to leave. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves. Emma, thank-you so much for inviting all of us into your lovely home, being a wonderful cook, a wonderful hostess and a genuinely nice person. (We liked you immediately!) Before we arrived, the young adults were apprehensive about what to expect but as the night went on they began to understand how unique and special it was to not only visit a place but to visit with the people. Emma is a warm and engaging person who will put you at ease from the start. For us it was perfect. This was our 6th visit to Rome and each time we wished we could speak just a little bit. One of us is shy and self conscious about trying to speak Italian - Emma eased us into some basics and as the night progressed, so did our ability to understand and to pronounce. Of course a little wine along the way did not hurt! Emma receives our highest praise from two Americans who are seasoned travelers and fussy. Grazie mille Emma! Taking my 25 year old daughter to Italy was my life long dream. My daughter's dream was to meet and speak with someone from Italy. She was learning Italian online, but really wanted to speak with a real Italian. Emma was fantastic in making this dream come true. Wow - I had high expectations, but Emma even exceeded those. Emma is warm, bright, and personable. She was in contact with me to confirm plans early, and when I had a last minute change she was very flexible. We met in the section of Rome called Monti, which I was not familiar with, so this was an added bonus. We started the lesson with a walk around Monti - speaking only in Italian. My sister and I can speak well enough to be understood, but far from correctly. Working with Emma was like having a conversation, with someone gently correcting you along the way. She was always kind and constructive, and explained to you the reasons for the error. We stopped to sit at a lovely spot, and Emma had a great structured lesson. It was geared perfectly to our level, and my sister and I really learned a lot. We finished the lesson at a little wine bar, and both my sister and I were a bit sad that we had to rush off - it would have been very easy for us to hang out with Emma. We both felt that not only did we get a great lesson, learned a new part of town, but we also made a new friend. If I could give her more than a 10 I would. Absolutely amazing!!!

What a wonderful evening in Emma's apartment. We where 17 people from Norway going for an evening to Emma. We had a splendid evening with all the tasty food. And she was afraid it was to little food!!! It was plenty ! Emma's sister and Emma's boyfriend was there and they where all so friendly and nice! This was the best experience of food we had in Rome ! Many thanks to Emma for making this afternoon most enjoyable. I had been to Rome before and wanted a different way to rediscover the city. This walking tour is a perfect opportunity not only to taste great and typical roman food but also to talk "with locals". The conversation was easy going and the time flew by. The tasting was done at local shops that make there own food: chocolate, gelato, fried artichoke, pizza, cheese, pasties, etc. I do not hesitate to recommend this tour and Emma. Amazing afternoon

The food tour with Emma was the definite highlight of our 3 days in Rome! Emma not only gave us a great insight into Roman cuisine but she also gave us an opportunity to explore some hidden corners of Rome we might not otherwise have seen and shared some great stories on Roman culture and history. My partner Phil and I had a wonderful tasting tour of central Rome with Emma. We met Emma at the Campo di Fiori where there is an excellent food market, so naturally we stopped at a few stalls to taste some of the produce. Then Emma guided us through the network of narrow streets to taste the best cakes, pizza, cheese, chocolate, coffee, ice-cream and other specialities of Rome. Emma has a great love of all Italian foods and told us all about their origins, and how they are cooked. We had a great time with Emma. She was a great guide, and showed us many parts of the old area of Rome we were not expecting to see (such as the Jewish Ghetto). She was able to amend the tour on the go as we found a few places were closed (being a Saturday) or were crowded with tour groups/busses. We went back to a few of the places after our tour to enjoy more of what they had to offer. This tour is a great way to experience different foods in Rome, and would highly recommend doing it with Emma.A Great Experience

Emma is a wonderful chef! We had an amazing evening with probably all flavors from Italy. Pasta salad, Focaccia, Bruscherra, different cheese, wine and everything was really delicious. Emma and her husband are really welcoming and friendly people who can share stories about Roma and Italy all evening long. I am sure I will definitely visit them again while visiting bella Roma!
