Rita was an amazing guide for our day exploring Sintra! I expressed my dream of seeing Peña Palace and Regaleira in one day. Rita expressed worry about the achievability of this plan, but was willing to try to make it work! We made it work! It was an enjoyable experience, though a bit of a workout! Wear comfy shoes! After touring the beautiful grounds of Peña and Regaleira, Rita took us to a delightful place with beach access for lunch. We had hoped to make it to Cascais as well, but ran out of time. Rita was willing to hang with us as our kids enjoyed the beach. She was engaging with the kids - perhaps because she has two kiddos that are similar aged. The day felt like spending a day with a friend. She shared with us her love for the area, which made the tour a great learning and fun time! This was our first time in Portugal, and the day with Lius was one of the best experiences we've had! He communicated with us before the tour and accommodated with a later start and ending due to personal reasons. We never felt rushed. He was highly knowledgeable about the history and the details of everything. He provided history along the way, an added bonus! He also gave us a brief but nice shopping break in Cascais. What a fantastic experience with Rodrigo. From the moment we booked our tour Rodrigo was engaged in planning our day. We had the ultimate weather day for our tuk tuk tour. His suggestions on how to tour around pena palace was spot on for us. The views were amazing. Rodrigo was always there when we were ready to head to the next spot. Lisbon was our last stop on our week in Portugal and we definitely saved the best tour for last. Luis was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. We ventured to Sintra, Pena Castle, Caiscase and saw some Lovely beaches along the way. If you plan to go to Sintra (or any tours from Lisbon) we highly recommend booking with Rui. Terrific communication from the get-go. We wanted to see the Quinta da Regaleira and Cabo da Roca. Rui worked with us to plan a perfect day. He was on-time in a clean comfortable van. Knew walking shortcuts so that we didn't get caught in the crowds that are the norm in Sintra. Provided insights and info as we walked and answered our many questions about Portugal and Lisbon. The thing that really stands out is Rui's personality, which is delightful. Friendly, comfortable, easy going while still keeping us on track for our very full day. He even added a stop as he drove us back to Lisbon because we hadn't yet been to the Monument to the Discoveries. (Well worth seeing!) An investment to do a private tour? - yes. Worth every penny -- Absolutely! PS - The trains were on strike when we were in Lisbon but because we had arranged with Rui, we didn't have any worries. Best decision we made on trip to Lisbon!

We did not have Luis. We had Jorge. Luis had such fantastic reviews and I was really looking forward to his tour. However he had another commitment so he offered another guide in his place. I didn't want to cancel and try to find another tour since it was only a few days away so he suggested Jorge in his place. Jorge was nice and provided the standard tour but I feel we could have seen more. Jorge might be used to having tourists stop to shop, have lunch and admire scenery for extended periods of time but we wanted more tour experiences. We did not even see the Pena Palace which I was looking forward to. It may have been different if we had communicated with Jorge directly before the tour.Sintra Tour

We had a wonderful day trip to Sintra. Even though Pena Palace was closed, we had a great time checking out the main town and Regaleira. We had a delicious lunch and then headed on to the windy ocean overlook and Cascais for gelato. Our family of four (two kids) very much enjoyed all the sites and trivia and getting all of our questions answered throughout the day. The trip was tailored to our needs including a different pick up and drop off location to fit with other activities we had planned. We also had some questions before the tour that were promptly answered and helped us in planning. And we got some tips for things to check out the next day on our drive south. This was our 1st time in Portugal and this tour enabled us to see Obidos, Fatima, and then remain in Nazare, our next destination after Lisbon. Our tour guide Luis was absolutely fantastic! He was really fun to travel with and extremely knowledgeable about the history of all places en route! We never felt rushed and had the perfect amount of time at each town. And when we arrived in Nazare, he assisted us in checking in to our next hotel and orienting us to other aspects (restaurants, etc). Again, we chose not to return to Lisbon. Luis did a wonderful job keeping us informed and meeting us in a timely manner. Saw so many churches and beautiful sights, such as the Sao Roque, the Gloria elevator, the Se church, church of St. Dominic, history of the area, the plazas, the people and Porteguese rulers. We passed by so many areas and learned so much! Also had time for a water break, cherry liquor (ginjinha), and custard pastries! It was so worth doing, I highly recommend.wonderful day in Lisbon!

We visited Lisbon for three days and it was our first visit. We booked Lili on the first day to get an overview of the city. We booked her for a private tour, which was perfect. She is easy to talk to and asked a few questions to get an understanding of what we were interested in, and then she adjusted her planning accordingly. She showed us many hidden gems, which we loved. We still talk about the amazing library she showed us. She showed and told us about the city's history and important landmarks, which was great! Veerle heeft de voorbereiding van ons dagprogramma en de ontmoetingsplek perfect geregeld. Veerle reageerde snel en goed op onze vragen vooraf over bijvoorbeeld tips restaurants. Dat was heel fijn. Veerle was netjes gekleed en we vertrokken op tijd via de trein naar Sintra. Vanaf het begin tot het einde was ons contact met Veerle prettig en relaxed. Veerle is een open mens en oprecht belangstellend. Zij vertelde ons veel waardevols over Portugal, Lissabon, Sintra en de mensen die daar wonen. We hebben een prachtige dag met haar beleefd en we bevelen haar als gids zeker aan. Een eerlijk oordeel geven over de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding vinden we lastig. Een dagtour met een privé gids was voor ons namelijk de 1ste keer. Wat ons hierbij zou helpen is een specificatie van de opbouw van de totaalprijs van 400 euro.
