One of our most favorite things, upon coming to a new city or place, is immersing ourselves and getting to know locals in the area. Anthony did not disappoint! C’était notre première fois à Marseille et Iseult nous a fait découvrir cette ville et ses charmes avec un mélange de faits historiques, faits divers, une bonne pointe d’humour et des petits quiz amusants. Plus que ça, elle était aussi intéressée par ces 2 Québécois qui débarquaient dans sa ville. Que de bons et beaux moments entre nous! Soucieuse de notre temps à Marseille et ce désir de manger un moules-frites, elle nous a même réservé une table chez Coquille pour le déjeuner! This was a really good walking tour around Marseille - Iseult gave us so many insights into the city and its history that we would not have gleaned on our own. As we were staying in the city another 3 days it helped us to really target where we wanted to cover by ourselves. We were in a cruise in Marseille and decided to talk this walking tour. We met our guide Iseult right in time and started walking. Inknow the whole point of these tours is to see parts of the city you wouldn’t in your own and we did just that. All four of us loved the tour and Iseult was a fantastic guide answering all our questions, even following up after the tour to answer a question my very particular husband asked :-). My only tiny point of feedback is that the tour description said it included a drink at a stop along the way. That part didn’t happen. However, I must stress that we had a wonderful thing and it’s very minor I often find these websites and apps make small omissions like this. I’m coming back to Marseille in November and will book a tour again with Iseult - look no further just book. A wonderful experience if Marseille

Our family just finished the best day with Anthony. Not only is he sweet, pleasant to be with and very intelligent, he is a wonderful teacher. Christopher led us on an afternoon tour of art and architecture in Marseille. We had some ideas of what type of places we wanted to visit and Christopher guided us to them explaining other buildings and neighborhoods in Marseille as we walked by them. We were interested in the current art scene. Christopher having a studio in the city and being familiar with the current art scene gave us an insider’s view. We visited several galleries and Le Couvent - a community garden and artist residency development in a former convent and then to the nearby La Friche Belle de Mai. It is a former tobacco factory that has been converted into a contemporary art space. Christopher was an engaging guide taking us to the sites we were interested in. Along the way, we ran into several of his artist friends and colleagues who complimented his work. Christopher gave us a very thorough tour. We walked thru the forts in the Catalan and he explained their history and use. We also visited the mansion that Napoleon III built for his wife, but she did not want to use. We also toured other spots in the Catalan. We toured the Old Port area and Christopher discussed the history of the port including its ancient history, as well as more recent history and the various attempts at urban renewal. He discussed notable buildings and churches. We finished up our tour in the Pannier district and the Cathedral. He brought us to several ceramic galleries that we wanted to visit as well as a couple of art galleries that we enjoyed. He had booked us a reservation at a wonderful vegetarian restaurant for lunch. He is an enthusiastic guide who is happy to share his knowledge and tailor the tour to our interests. It was a superb tour. Christopher knows the City and history.

Paul was my guide. Very enthusiastic and full of knowledge about history, culture and food of Marseille . Overall one of best tours have been on anywhere both for his company and quality, variety and amount of food. Lots of highlights but the crispy creamy panisse and the filled baguettes at Pan a la Ail were outstanding. A lovely tasting stop at Maison Bremond. A shop with myriad of delights. Tasted oils, vinegars, sweet pastes. Bought couple of small things but wish had room in my carry-on for more. Have done lots of food tours but this was one of the best ever. The tour with Paul was excellent. As promised, he took us to “hidden gems” in Marseille that we would never have found. The cafe we stopped for a snack was delicious. His knowledge of the history was the perfect amount. As I walk with a cane, he walked at our pace, no rushing. He was upbeat, on time and very sociable. Our tour « Highlights & Hidden Gems of Marseille » with Paul was fantastic! What a beautiful city and what a knowledge bel and thoughtful tour guide. Paul took us to Marseille’s many different quarters and gave us a taste of the various local and multicultural aspects of life you can expect to experience in marseille. All this while organizing/modifying our itinarery as he saw it fit. We really loved our visit to the old port, Noailles and le Panier. Paul brought them to life. He clearly loves what he does and he loves Marseille too! We left regretting that we did not have more time to spend in this wonderful city. This was an excursion we did while cruising. We took the Marseille’s city free shuttle and it worked for us. 10 min walk from ship to the shuttle 15 min on the bus another 15 minute walk to the old port. Straight forward and easy.

Naguib is a graduate student, and he provided a wonderful tour of the Au Panier district. He also took us to Basilica of Notre-Dame-of-la-Garde and gave us a small taste of the more commercial part of Marseille. He spent much more time with us than he was obligated. In Au Panier, the restaurant and food establishment owners/staff were all very happy to see him. and the food in every place was outstanding. Definitely use Naguib if you want to get a great feel for the old Marseille.Passionate About Au Panier

Followup to Naguib’s comments: Naguib, I ‘m sorry you disagree with my review, but the facts are the facts. You should NEVER change the nature of the tour without asking or talking to the clients. We knew exactly what we signed up for. The following week on a group tour, I walked from the bottom of Sacre Cour to the top. Additionally you made up various excuses for the change. You NEVER cancel a tour, (for any reason) , without contacting the clients and telling them. I’m glad others had good experiences with you, but I was rating OUR experience, not theirs. My friends and I had a wonderful time with Iseult! I definitely recommend her, especially if you have a group of younger adults. We are young travelers, and Iseult catered the tour to go to places and shops younger people would like while still experiencing the culture of the city. She is very fun to be around and also knowledgable about the city! I'd especially like to recommend her because she gave us advice on how to stay safe in the city. My friends and I are young and inexperienced travelers so we try to be extra careful, and had heard to be wary of Marseille at night. We enjoyed a wonderful walking tour of Marseilles with Iseult. She showed us the old city and we learned so much about the history of this beautiful city. We sampled some local dishes including mussels, cheeses, bread and of course patisserie and ice cream. Iseult tailored the tastings to our tastes and everything was delicious. It was a very hot day and Iseult was very thoughtful in choosing a route that afforded us the most shade on our walk. Every stop was an easy walk from the centre of the city. This was an absolutely wonderful tour. Not only did we try some amazing food, but Naguib was very knowledgeable about the city itself. It was nice to listen to the rich revolutionary history of Marseille while we walked and ate. We had no idea about the rich history of this lovely city. I only wish it hadn't been such a sweltering hot day so that we could have enjoyed being outside even more, but that cannot be helped. We really enjoyed our time with Naguib and are so happy that we booked this tour.Perfect day exploring the city
