Ai set up a culinary and cultural experience that was well beyond what I expected. We tried a wide variety of food at three different restaurants in an area of Tokyo that would be difficult for a tourist to figure out in their own. She was an excellent teacher and your guide, explaining both the food, the restaurant, the culture behind the izakaya experience, and nearly any other question I had about Tokyo. She was patient, happy, and very enjoyable. Can’t recommend this tour enough!Way more than I could have hoped for!

Sena was fantastic. She was very responsive before our excursion and very thoughtful during. She preplanned the places to eat/drink and had alternatives based on our conversation once we met up so we got to eat foods we might otherwise have been intimidated to try like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Sena was amazing! She responded to confirm booking and also suggested and alternative tour which we ended up switching to out of convenience! Our night consisted of a popular sushi spot which she booked ahead of time so we got right in. She made food/drink suggestions about what to try and what’s popular in Shibuya. Onto the next thing we had the best takoyaki there is! To top it off, we ended up with a sake tasting. Sena has lots of knowledge of Tokyo (as well as the surrounding neighborhoods) and I felt like we were getting all the hidden gems. She also made sure to check in with dietary preferences ahead of time and fully customize the tour. Not only did she make other suggestions for the rest of the trip but was went out of her way to help find a books at a local bookstore we had been searching for! She’s a great guide! 10/10 recommend. Best guide out there!

We had a very nice experience with Sena in Shibuya. We tasted some great sushi and enjoyed her choice of restaurant, followed by gyozas in another eatery and then a sake-tasting. Sena was a very polite and friendly host and we enjoyed hearing about her life. We did find the food tasting a little but dull - we would have preferred to try more adventurous food in less commercial locations. The Kichijoji nightlife tour with Jessica felt just like grabbing dinner with a great friend! She had some hilarious stories that kept us laughing the entire time. She recommended some interesting dishes, but everything was so delicious. I don't think we would have ever thought to try horse meat without her recommendation. Alex was truly the best. We ran a little late for the tour dude to getting into the city later than expected (which should be no shock to anyone in Tokyo) but he came and got us anyways. We were Tokyo just a few days and decided to check out the bar hopping tour. Initially, I was a bit concerned because my husband and I are lightweights and cannot drink a whole lot. Alejandro put my worries to rest and so we went. Alejandro is a friendly, considerate, and down-to-earth guy. He took us to a few different Izakayas in a quaint Tokyo neighborhood, we tried different drinks, bar foods, played drinking games, and did a bit of karaoke. It was a fun night out, I highly recommend this tour.Highly recommend!

Alejandro is amazing. He got us a table at all the izakayas that know him and showed us things we would never be able to see as a group of 8 who don't speak Japanese! This is a must having a local show you around as foreigners are not really able to do this. We drank a lot and even ate a lot! Beware do take all the hangover prevention he sends you before the experience! We didn't and I definitely suffered the next day. Alejandro really takes care of your group and knows the drinks in and out too and the specialties at each bar. Don't worry if you have a specific taste either! I thought I wouldn't get to appreciate a lot since I like sweet drinks but that wasn't a problem at all!Amazing!

As a solo traveler it can be intimidating to try izakayas or all all you can drink places by yourself. I tried the drinks I would never try otherwise and also met interesting people. I also loved I could experience other places than Shinjuku or Shibuya. Definitely recommend!Recommend!

We just completed a private tour with Kennedy this weekend, and it was fantastic. My wife and I are visiting Tokyo for a few days before starting a cruise around Japan, and we wanted to learn how to navigate the train system so we could explore on our own the next day. We also wanted to see some local favorites and hidden gems that we might not have found ourselves. Kennedy met us right at our hotel (which was next to a train station), helped us set up Suica cards, and guided us on using the trains as we toured the city. Her suggested stops were wonderful, and her knowledge of the history and culture made each place even more memorable. What really stood out was Kennedy’s warm personality and great conversation. We felt less like clients on a tour, and more like out-of-town friends being shown around by someone who truly loves Tokyo and wants you to love it too. The next day, thanks to Kennedy’s help, we confidently put our new train skills to the test — making multiple transfers across different lines without getting lost. If you’re visiting Tokyo, we highly recommend booking a day with Kennedy. And as a tip: if you’re an iPhone user, you can purchase a Suica card directly in your Apple Wallet — it worked perfectly for us! And Apple Maps will give you full directions using the trains and walking instructions. Super easy.

Sena was amazing! Even before the tour she was getting to know our family through chat. Sena was very communicative and responsive. Even in the busy center of Shibuya, we easily found each other. Our tour was the 'Highlights & Hidden Gems of the Shibuya district' which stared off with a great spot to view the city then off to taste some of the cuisine before heading to the subway. We didn't have our IC cards set up so she was really helpful to get the whole family set up. It was a breeze to get from place to place. From there we had a great visit to a Shinto Shrine and off to see the Harajuku area. Not only was Sera amazing at speaking about each of the stops, she was really friendly to get to know us and tell us about her experiences. She eve helped d us with other spots for our vaction. Sena is a lovely professional who knows all the best places to sample great food in Kichijoji. We finished the tour in Inokashira Park, watching the boating on the pond. I worked my way through some of the treats I’d saved but I still had enough left for my evening meal. This is a great introduction to this area and many new delicacies. Along with unique small local shops in the side streets, Sena showed me the bountiful shopping areas within Kichijoji Station. We selected Tokyo history and Asskusa tour and had chosen Carlos based on favorite reviews on website. Also, our previous experience with same company in Kanazawa was a very positive one. However, unfortunately experience with Carlos was on the opposite side. He was barely engaged, shared very little and rather had to be prompted to share information. While walking streets in Asskusa said a little about the area just pointing out to some local business. Although tour supposed to last 3 hours he wanted to end it 30 min earlier and only after our questions “volunteered” to take subway with us in the direction we were going next anyway. Tokyo is a beautiful city and Carlis has a pleasant personality but as a personal tour guide he certainly failed to help us appreciate the Tokyo rich history and beauty.Disappointing experience want a refund

May 18, 2025 – A Peaceful Start, a Buzzing Finish Today, I met my guest at his hotel in the afternoon, and from there, we took a train to Harajuku Station to begin our day at Meiji Shrine. It was a calm and serene start to the tour — walking through the forested path leading to the shrine always offers a nice balance to the busy city life. After exploring the shrine grounds, we strolled down Takeshita Street, where the energy quickly shifted — full of trendy shops, quirky snacks, and the fun chaos of Harajuku youth culture. We grabbed some brown sugar and matcha tapioca drinks, which were refreshing and gave us a little sugar boost. Next, we took a taxi to Miyashita Park. The modern rooftop park was a nice place to pause and enjoy some greenery in the heart of Shibuya. From there, we continued to Shibuya Yokocho, a retro-style alley filled with izakayas and food stalls. We sat down for some yakitori, sake, and a taste of plum wine, which my guest enjoyed a lot. After eating, we explored the Shibuya shopping area, visited the Starbucks with the iconic view over the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, then crossed the famous intersection ourselves and visited the loyal Hachikō Statue, a Tokyo classic. Later, we hopped on a train to Shinjuku, where we wandered through Omoide Yokocho, taking in the nostalgic atmosphere and old alleyways. Then we headed to the bright lights of Kabukicho, Tokyo’s entertainment district, and finally ended the night with a stroll through Golden Gai, known for its tiny, character-filled bars and lively vibe. We finished the tour there, and from Shinjuku, we took the E Line back. It was a full day — a perfect blend of peace, food, culture, and nightlife. As a WithLocals tour guide myself in Mexico I was eager to take some tours with the hosts in Tokyo for my dream trip. Carlos curated an amazing walking tour of several neighborhoods to visit. I've dreamt of a trip to Japan since childhood, so I was looking to explore, see and learn the most I could about the culture, see the neighborhoods, and really immerse myself and be able to experience Japan from the view of a local. Carlos' tour was deeply experiential, emotional, thought provoking and just overall beautiful. We began visiting a cemetery to learn about history and spirituality, this began the tour with an in-depth perspective of deep rooted beliefs and practices, allowing us to connect to a spiritual-emotional level. We visited traditional quaint neighborhoods like a street that became famous because of the cats that lived there and learned that this was the origin of the Japanese waiving cat. There were so many interesting shops there. We saw art and visited the beautiful Ueno park, enjoyed talking, exploring and eating some delicious food and drinks at a traditional Izakaya. Carlos delivered the tour in Spanish for our group of Mexicans and Chileans and it was really interesting to receive his insight on what it is like living in Japan as a Mexican, how cultures mesh and seeing Japan from the view of a local. This tour will forever be in my memory and heart, of all the tours we took in Tokyo, this was by far the best because we got to really explore and experience Tokyo and it's neighborhood from the ground up. Carlos as a guide is just amazing, he's personable, kind, approachable and generous. Spending the day with him was simply enjoyable and the experiences he curated for us were creative, versatile and fun. The best tour I have taken EVER!!!The best tour EVER!

We had a great time in Tokyo visiting several temples, fish market, Asakusa, saw a Buddhist ceremony, Senso-Ji Temple, learned how to ride the subway, Happy Street, visited some fun street vendors and got some custom made chopsticks engraved, had a great coffee at a local shop, ate Wagyu steak for the first time , and more! Super fun filled experience and I highly recommend it and touring with MD Abu!Awesome first day in Tokyo
