Phillipe was an absolute amazing flamenco dance teacher. We left his class with a deeper appreciation for the history of flamenco and an admiration for the style of dance. I am a fan of trying things for myself - this way i appreciate the art better, be it dance, activities or other creative art. Philippe was hands on and structured the lesson around our level of understanding and ability. Before our recent trip to Barcelona I decided to look for something fun and different for my group of 8 to do. I came across the With Locals website and found a Flamenco class. I contacted Philippe to ask if he could handle a large group and he was quick to reply that he could. After speaking with the rest of my party we decided to try it out. Wow! We met Philippe at his home which has huge floor to ceiling windows and is filled with sunlight. We were greeted with a glass sangria to help loosen us up and ease any dance jitters and he began telling us the history of Flamenco. Philippe is friendly and cheerful and clearly a professional dancer. (He is also an artist as you will see from his artwork) One look at his calves and you can see the hours he’s put into his craft. The class was great fun and by the end we had laughed as much as we danced. I highly recommend this class as a fun activity for any and all age groups. Philippe is patient and kind. It was something we’ll never forget! (I can still hear him say “pasada, sevillana”) Thanks for a great afternoon Philippe! More than a flamenco class

Everyone goes to Parc Guell and La Familia Segrada as did I and loved them. But not everyone gets to have Flamenco lessons with Phillipe. He is the real deal and had some humor but also compliments for our lack od dancing abilities. He was interesting to talk with and learning about how dance and life imitate each other was better than churros and chocolate;). I liked seeing the neighborhood as well. Keep going all the way up the hill and you get the best view of Barcelona! Thanks Phillipe! Something off the beaten path

We gave as a present to my partner a Flamenco lesson with Philippe. This was the best choice we could have made! We can highly recommend it! Philippe picked us up punctually from the metro station and directly brought us to his amazing dance Studio, located at the quaint district of El Carmel. Dancing was extremely fun and Philippe really made sure we learn, enjoy and feel what Flamenco and Sevillanas are about. We had very nice vibes with him and were really happy and satisfied after the lesson. Philippe also provided tasty Sangria, a Flamenco dress and answered all of our questions. My girlfriend wanted to experience something different, and when we heard that Philippe is a professional dancer and teaches flamenco, she knew she wanted to try. Philippe is an excellent teacher, he made her try out 2 different styles, and finally she was even able to dance the first sevillana with him. It was a wonderful memory. The most striking part of Philippe's tour was how well he engaged all members of our group. We ranged in age from 4 to 71. Philippe made sure that he had something interesting to say, and to show, to all of us. He had a great rapport with the youngest members, getting them to name the dragons we found. He would not let them name one of them "Bob", a decision I agree with wholeheartedly! He made the little ones laugh, and he made us older types laugh as well. He shared Catalonian views, but welcomed us as valued guests. He knew his stuff, and knew how to share it in an interesting way. I recommend him very highly!Philippe was an excellent tour guide

We had the absolute pleasure of spending time with Philippe during our visit to Barcelona, best decision we made to tour Gaudi's buildings and Segrada Familia. Philippe's knowledge of Barcelona's history, architecture, and customs was impressive, but what truly set him apart was his deep and nuanced understanding of European and world history as well. Every moment with him was filled with insights, engaging stories, and thoughtful connections that brought Gaudi's work, the city of Barcelona and region—and its place in the broader historical context—to life. Philippe has a keen sense of humor and a generous spirit that made our time together feel less like a tour and more like a wonderful conversation with a wise and witty friend. Good communication pre-tour, found him easily ahead of our scheduled time. Philippe is very knowledgeable, took the time to understand what we had done already at the beginning of the tour to tailor our experience. We are a family of five, and he could relate well to all of us (Parents, young adult children and pre-teen). He tried to teach us a lot of the history through quizzing us along the way. Philippe is also very well traveled, and could relate the information based on our background (we’re Canadian). He also had good recommendations for us to complete our trip in Barcelona including restaurants and shops. Learned a lot about the City!

We had an amazing walking tour in Barcelona with a guide who really knew his stuff — and knew how to keep us entertained too! He took us around to see some of Gaudí’s wild and wonderful architecture and told us all sorts of interesting things about the city. History, culture and fun facts. It felt more like hanging out with a really smart friend than a typical tour. We learned a lot and saw the city in a whole new way. It was fun for the kids using the dragons they found as landmarks when we were out and about the rest of the week. This was a family vacation. Philippe is very knowledgeable, informative and passionate about Catalunya. We received a great overview of the area and also learned about Three Kings day. He was at Green Bike well before the tour began and gave us his full attention. We appreciate Philippe coming out during the Spanish holiday! The bike tour allowed us to see a lot of Barcelona. What a guy, gave a great tour, really knows his stuff, he can change it up based on your knowledge, I know a fair amount about the civil war and I learned a lot more. Philippe took us on a walk about the Spanish Civil War and its impact on Barcelona. After meeting at Font de Canaletes, We roamed down Las Ramblas and off into side streets and laneways that we would not have found ourselves. Philippe provided intriguing stories about Gaudi, interesting information about the history of Catalunya, and helpful insight into the culture and perspectives of the locals. We appreciated that he pointed out the highlights of the Sagrada Familia that we should not miss before we went in for that part of the tour. We are a family of 5 from Hong Kong and enjoy learning something from the locals every time we visit a new place. We found many good reviews of Philippe's private 2hr cooking class but we thought 2hr might be a bit too rush if our children want to enjoy plenty of cooking as well as a good moment for all of us to enjoy the meal together with Philippe. I communicate with Philippe and am glad that he is responsive and is willing to accommodate our needs. We did a 3-hour session of a traditional Catalan home cooking, including pa amb tomaquet, padron peppers, tortella de patatas, paella and crema catalana. It was a great fun for our children. Philippe was very thoughtful, carefully balancing the time needed for cooking and a pace which the children can enjoy themselves in the process. It was a big portion for all of us and Philippe was impressed that we can finish the food and nothing went to the bin. (to readers: be reminded to go with an empty stomach) Philippe had also shared his life and adventure with us during the meal and we appreciate our great time with such a nice person.A wonderful experience of Catalonia

Not much more to be said that hasn’t already been raved about. Philippe was a wonderful host to myself, my wife and our 5 year old. His home is beautiful, an alluring layout that is tastefully decorated. As for Philippe himself, he was patient, kind, and encouraging to our child, who is usually quite shy. The icing (or fire in this case) on the cake was our son learning to use the blow torch for the Creama Catalana caramel. Definitely a highlight of the trip! A MUST when in Barcelona

The class felt rushed, kinda of aggressive, not geared towards children or families ( philippe actually said the class wasn’t for children) even through that is in the title of the class. He made our entire family feel uncomfortable. His home where you cook was so hot we would barely breathe. Never offered us water. Then rushed us out minutes before the class was up. He also seemed that this was just something he does vs. bring remotely interested in cooking or any background in culinary at all. I would not recommend taking this class. Not exsctly a comfortable environment

We had such a great time on our tour. For the adults, Philippe provided lots of interesting stories and history about Barcelona and the areas we walked.
