Another driver had a sign that said my first name and confirmed his name was the same as my driver so I went with him thinking he was my driver. Had to pay him. I realize my real driver didn’t put me in that car but if he had been on time with a sign, this wouldn’t have happened. Confusion at inception

The day started badly with a message from Dulshan telling me his car was broken so he would not be leading my tour today. He arranged for his ‘brother’ to take me instead which was ok, however the whole point of picking Dulshan was due to his good reviews and his ‘foodie’ knowledge. I had a good full day as planned and Nisal was a good host - unfortunately his English was limited so it was more like hiring a driver for the day as opposed to the ‘withlocals’ experience I’d hoped for. Overall a good experience

I was flying through Colombo for just a brief 17-hour period on a long layover from Beijing to Mumbai. I didn't want to sit in the airport all-day and was hoping to get out and get a taste of Sri Lanka. I tried booking with several other tour operators but had a number of issues. Once I booked Sam's tour, he was quick to reply and helped me customize my day. I couldn't have found a better guide for exactly what I was looking for. He gave tons of information and different options to ensure that I was happy. I have had several local guides in various countries (+40) that I have visited and Sam's tour is easily top 5! His English is great and he's easy to talk to. I also loved that he always had his camera out and was snapping pictures. Can't recommend his tour enough - I will definitely be back for longer than 17 hours next time thanks to Sam!Sam's tour is a MUST

We (me and my 2 colleagues) had a great Saturday with Nilantha. He picked us up quite early (6:30) so we could get out of Colombo before the worst traffic. After stop for breakfast and coffee we arrived to Madu river. The boat driver was very good and we saw both lizards and monkeys during the tour. The presentation of cinnamon was interesting and so was also the temple. Maybe the best part was the fish therapy "in the river" - or nets in the river. Since we where interested in turtles we asked Nilantha to find a place - which he did. Interesting to hear about the how sea turtles are rescued. After lunch we went to the beach and it felt very nice to be able to have a swim. In the afternoon we walked around in Gaulle fort. During all of the day Nilantha was very positive and always made sure that we where doing what we wanted. He is also a good driver, but the car we had was not his own and there was no belt on the right side in the backseat - that was the only negative thing with all of the day.Great trip south of Colombo

We really enjoyed our trip to Galle with Sam. He showed us some really beautiful places. His English is incredible good, that way it was easy for us to communicate. He shared a lot of interesting facts about the country and explained a lot to us. He came with a driver and the car ride was really smooth and save. Our hotel was a bit off the road and he had to travel nearly 200 additional kilometers to pick us up and to bring us home, but it was still very easy to find a way to still make it work with him, to a very reasonable price. If we ever come back to Sri Lanka, we would definitely book him again. Really great experience

Nilantha was very helpful doing his best to pick us up as close as possible from the ship. The river safari was so much better than expected. Stopping to learn about cinnamon, stopping at the temple and the fish spa were great experiences. I had a lovely time today. Breakfast was delicious and authentic - a find we definitely wouldn't have gone to by ourselves. We met our guide outside of Kingsbury Hotel. We were delayed, he at time. We like! We drove in a comfortable car through town and we got a slightly idea of the size of the town and how crowdy the town is. We also pass the impressing new parliament building placed in a lake. On our way to Galle we asked about Sri Lanka and how it is to live here, about education and health systems and Samir had good answers on all our questions. We learned a lot and want to visit your beautiful country again. We were taken for a boat ride on a lake with mangrove trees, boards and animals, a temple and fish spa, all of this are new experiments. The boat guide was awesome and spotted animals from long distance. We had tasty and good local lunch at Rampart Hotel. Caused by heavy rain we chosed to skip the rest of the program for our tour. Samir was creative and replaced it with a visit the Marine Museum in Galle and a walk on the fortress wall. Samir is a service minded, polite and skilled guide, he made our tour fun and learning. Everything about the tour was amazing. Dulshaan arrived on time and came across very professional and polite. Dulshaan was very knowledgeable and accommodating and made us feel very safe showed us everything at a good pace. Nothing was too much trouble. I was travelling with my parents and he was very good with them too especially my mum who’s not very fluent in English. I can’t fault anything. I really cannot praise Dulshan highly enough for the trip to Galle. He collected us promptly from our hotel in Colombo and took us for breakfast to a place we would never have been able to find ourselves, where we enjoyed a typical Sri Lankan breakfast served on a... water lily! Dulshan proved to be a very knowledgeable guide and took care to explain things to us. Nothing was too much trouble for Dulshan, he offered to stop and let us look around places, even if they weren't on the itinerary. He was at all times patient and courteous and we felt extremely comfortable in his company. The idea behind 'With Locals' is a fine one, but it depends on having the right guides; with Dulshan there can be no doubt. We had an amazing time with Asanka for our day trip to Galle! Asanka is very knowledgable and is full of suggestions to make the trip as enjoyable as possible! We had a delicious breakfast next to a rice field in the open air which was really beautiful! Asanka was very attentive and kind to us all and went the extra mile to make sure we had a lovely time! Asanka also has a lot of connections to give a truly memorable experience i.e cuddling a monkey and having a fish pedicure! Choose Dulshan as your tour guide! You will not be left disappointed! Last month I got in touch with Dulshan to help me plan a two-day tour with my partner. It was my first time using WithLocals, but Dulshan's friendliness and genuineness quickly won me over. He was easy to communicate with, listened to what I wanted and created a completely customised tour. During the two days, Dulshan was not only a tour guide, but a friend. He's incredibly knowledgeable on Sri Lanka's history and culture and very easy to have a conversation with. Throughout, it felt that he was discovering Sri Lanka anew with us and his laughter was infectious! We managed to do and visit more places than I could ever imagine in two days and yet, we were never exhausted. A sea turtle hatchery, batik workshop, river safari, Buddhist temple, cinnamon tree grower, tea plantation, local food markets, gem workshop, beautiful beaches, rice paddy fields - and not to mention real, local Sri Lankan food. We used Asanka as our driver for 5 days in Sri Lanka. He collected us from the airport, took us to Mirissa to go Whale watching, Galle Fort, Udawalawe National Park and elephant orphanage. He also took us to and from beaches, to restaurants, supermarket, shopping, waited for us and collected us. he is always friendly, professional, helpful, generous and trustworthy throughout our stay and when we left we were saying goodbye to new friend. Dulshan met us at our hotel and thereafter treated us to an educational, great variety and hidden gems tour. We were transported in his very comfortable vehicle with air conditioning. My husband is a historian and he found Dulshan to be a fountain of knowledge. We were taken to places that tourists would never know about and got to experience the daily life of a Sri Lankan person living and working in Colombo. Dulshan ensured that we tasted many interesting fruits and foods of Sri Lanka. He also took us to the artist street where he helped us negotiate a good price for a painting. At the end of our tour he took us to a second hand bookstore where we had fun selecting books. We had such an awesome experience with Deegoda the communication was fantastic from the start with lots of helpful information and confirmation he was on the way to pick us up. Deegoda arrived right on time picking us up from our hotel in his tuk tuk. Deegoda is full of energy with a great smile and sense of humour, immediately making us feel welcome, he also has a wealth of knowledge about the local food and culture. All the foods we tasted were delicious and Deegoda went out of his way to find particular foods he wanted us to experience. Had a really great experience with Priyantha on the walking food tour. He managed to show us plenty of vegetarian foods, talked a lot about the culture and history. No complaints, would highly recommend! 😊Vegetarian approved!!

We took a Food tour in Colombo with Deegoda. He was so kind, attentive . He picked up us from our hotel with his tuktuk. He told us a lot of information along the way. We visited a restaurant And a market with him. He spent four hours with us. Everything was perfect. Food tour Colombo - fantastic

This was such a fabulous tour and I learned so much about Negombo. Deegoda, is such a friendly and kind soul. My teenagers had a blast learning from him and also trying new foods and experiences. I think the highlight for us would be walking through the fish drying process and also visiting the fire cracker industry seeing how these are made as a cottage industry. I highly recommend this tour. Deegoda is a wealth of information! Amazing Tour
