Weil das Museum am gebuchten Abend bereits geschlossen war, hat uns David kurzerhand angeboten, die Führung durch das Museum am nächsten Morgen nachzuholen. Wir haben somit fast eine doppelte Führung erhalten. Gulbenkians Ausstellung war echt sehr interessant, und David hat uns noch viele zusätzliche Tipps mitgeben können. António was very pleasant even though we were late getting to our prearranged meeting. He was hired to take us around the Gulbukien museum. He was knowledgeable about Mr Gulbeckian’s life but told us nothing about what we were to see in the exhibits. He walked around with us but seemed to know nothing about the art. I felt we paid a lot for no information. The collection was wonderful and l was fascinated by the art nouveau jewellery which I didn’t know was there. It would have been interesting to hear about the designers.

Our tour was supposed to be a museum tour but it turned out that the museum was closed. Diolo, being the skilled tour guide and beatboxer that he is, thought quickly, improved and offered us options on what we could do as an alternative. He took us on a tour around Lisbon that gave us some of the old and new sights that showed us what makes Lisbon the vibrant city that it is. Occasionally displaying his hype beatboxing skills, Diolo’s love for Lisbon and exuberant energy made our detour one of a kind! We spent our second day in Lisbon with Ana Paula, and she was absolutely wonderful. Her deep local knowledge and strong community roots made the tour feel authentic and personal, giving us a true sense of Lisbon beyond the main tourist paths. She guided us through Alfama and beyond, sharing history with passion while leading us to hidden corners and stories we would never have discovered on our own. From breathtaking views at specific locations, each stop came alive through her storytelling. One of the highlights was visiting artisan shops and Cerâmica D’Alfama, a wonderful gallery run by two talented women artists. These stops gave us a deeper appreciation for Lisbon’s creative spirit and the people keeping its traditions and culture vibrant. Ana Paula’s warmth, connections, and insight gave us an experience rooted in the real Lisbon. We had the pleasure of spending our first day in Lisbon with Sónia, and she made the experience unforgettable. She was warm, friendly, and so knowledgeable, guiding us through highlights like the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, Castelo de S. Jorge, and the beautiful Igreja de São Roque. What we loved most was how she mixed history with personal touches, making us feel like we were exploring the city with a local friend. She brought us to great food stops, like O Trevo for a pork sandwich and Manteigaria for the freshest pastel de nata. She pointed out even more! I booked a tasting tour with Sonia on our arrival day. I had worried we might be too jet lagged to enjoy it but I was so glad I booked anyway! Sonia is warm and so easy to talk with and it’s apparent how much she loves her hometown and it’s food! I now have a list of things I want to order again during our stay! Ines was terrific! She has an easy-going manner and a sense of humor. We learned so much about the Portuguese culture, history, and architecture while she was navigating us through the winding streets to interesting neighborhoods that we would not have found on our own. She shared book recommendations, her favorite restaurants, tucked-away shopping boutiques and suggestions on how to further explore Lisbon and other areas of Portugal. I sadly cannot recommend this tour. We had some meats and cheese (unidentified to us the kinds), chorizo, ginjinha, pastel de nata. Nothing was personalized, I asked about shrimp and it was not accommodated. Not as advertised. Better off booking a normal tour for half the cost! Not worth cost

Walking around the city with Sonia was like walking with a close friend. We walked , laughed and did not know where the time went . I had to add an extra person the day before and Sónia went out of her way to coordinate withlocals team to add the extra person. My husband and I did a 3 hour walking tour of Lisbon with Amanda and I would highly recommend it. She took us to see all the major sites and neighborhoods with plenty of time to stop in special local shops and for photos. We had the most delicious Pastel de Nata at a coffee shop too. I booked a private half day tour several weeks before we arrived in Lisbon. Ana was our guide and she promptly met us at our hotel for a walking tour of Lisbon. Ana was extremely knowledgeable and started us off with a Funicular ride near the hotel. We saw St. Roch Cathedral and the amazing sites in the area. Lunch was phenomenal at Bairro do Avillez which is not to be missed. The views of Lisbon from this area give you a great appreciation of the architecture and ocean. Ana was very understanding and tailored the tour to our preferences. I had several chats with her before which I highly recommend when booking a private tour. Lisbon is very hilly so you need to be in decent shape. Overall I highly recommend Ana if you decide on a private tour. She is friendly and very passionate about Lisbon.
