We had a wonderful family tour (two 15 year olds) with Rolf. Rolf struck a nice balance between speaking to the adults while at the same time holding the teenagers’ interest. Not only is Anna very smart and well prepared, but she does a great job of engaging with you and making sure you are on the same page for what you want see and not just going through a checklist of items. We visited the Rijksmuseum, which is a huge facility with thousands of possible things to see, and the first thing she did was pause and help us think through what types of exhibits we were interested in. Once we decided that, it took the pressure off trying to "see everything" which was impossible in a 2 hour tour. We moved directly to the areas we wanted and never felt rushed. The resulting conversation about the exhibits was easy and free flowing allowing her to tailor the tour to our specific areas of interest and answer all of our questions. She is a real pro! We highly recommend! Simply the Best!

It was great to finally meet Rolf in person after having met him virtually on a Van Gogh tour during the pandemic! Rolf is an amazing art historian guide with incredible knowledge of Rijksmuseet and all its treasures. Rolf took us around to all the highlights, gave us a lot of background to and details of all the art whether they were paintings, statues, glass ware, silver ware or doll houses. I think I will never look at a painting the same way again, now I know what to look for! Rolf is very enthusiastic and passionate about art and we all had an amazing time. We spent 2 hours with Arunabha in the Rijksmuseum where we learnt a lot abour Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer and other painters of this time. Arunabha has a great knowledge of the painters and their life - we discovered some hidden connections between these different artists. We also went to see the dolls houses, which are very special, and the wondeful museum library. We very much recommend this tour.A lovely introduction to the Rijksmuseum

Annett was very kind and helpful throughout the tour. Much of the art has been moved which may have affected her tour. I wish we learned more about the history of the art itself. At times she would read the plaque, which we could have easily done ourselves. I think I just needed more history and understanding of the art itself. Rolf was accessible and responsive leading up to the tour and assisted us in both obtaining the museum admissions we needed and arranging a mutually convenient time and place to meet. A couple of weeks ago we took a combined Rijksmuseum / Van Gogh Museums private tour with art historian Merel - she was fabulous! She took us on a masterpiece tour of both the museums, which are situated within walking distance to one another, and gave us subtle insights on the artwork as well as the trials and travails of the artist, such that one could only hope glean from a passionate art historian. We found her extremely knowledgeable, good natured and most importantly, she always had a smile on her face. Merel is the sort of guide you can't forget and one that you always compare your other similar experiences with! Art Historian Merel Rocks!

My husband and I wanted a private tour of the Rijksmuseum while in Amsterdam. The number of tour guide choices were many but we definitely chose the best with Rolf. Rolf is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the art but more than that you could feel his joy in sharing this knowledge with us. He was able to point out minute but important details in the work or in the artist's mind that we would never have known otherwise. Two hours wasn’t enough time! Rolf was as personable as he was knowledgeable. The tour went quickly but was jam packed with so much pertinent information you wouldn’t know unless you were with someone who really knew their stuff. From history to painting technique, Rolf could answer whatever I throw his way. I did a tour at the Rijks, but through the connections he was drawing between Rembrandt and Vermeer to Van Gogh, I want to come back and do the Van Gogh museum with him. Marten made our trip to the Rijksmuseum excellent. He was exactly on time and very knowledgeable about the museum and the artworks. He is very well spoken, obviously knows his material well, and has a passion for the art and history of the Netherlands. The tour was a narrative one, illustrating the rise of the Netherlands and how the artwork represented the changes from its founding in the Middle Ages through the Golden Age, to now. The context Marten provided about the political, religious and economic forces that were happening when paintings and sculptures were made changed the way my wife and I experienced the museum. We always look for private tours when we have a large museum, and Marten was excellent!Fun, smart and energetic!
