Merel was an exceptional tour guide for our experience touring the Van Gogh Museum. She did a fabulous job of weaving the story of Van Gogh's life from start to finish. I felt like I was listening to a book on tape as she described each significant painting and what it meant in terms of his life. It wasn't just art it was a story that came to life through art. Never used a guide in a museum before, but we were so thrilled with our experience with Anna, I can’t imagine doing it without one again. Anna met us on time at the designated meeting place which was very easy to find. She got our tickets for us and entrance was a breeze, she even helped us secure our belongings in a locker. Anna was extremely knowledgeable and shared so much information with us as we navigating the extremely crowded museum to all the highlights like no one was there. We only had a couple of hours to spend there and she really made perfect use of the time hitting all the important works, explaining the timeline and sprinkling in lots of interesting information and stories along the way. Anna was charming and the experience was both entertaining and education.Great way to tour a museum!

Anna was lovely to spend time with. She was very knowledgeable about the city and the art museums we visited with her. We had two different tours on the same day with a break in between. We were only in Amsterdam for one full day and made the most of it with Anna. We could never have found, enjoyed and understood the city in a day by ourselves. She made sure to cover alot of ground in alot of different venues. We did the Van Gogh museum, The Rijksmuseum and a city tour. I would not hesitate to recommend Anna. Anna was a wonderful tour guide. She clearly has a passion for art, history, and Amsterdam in general, which she was happy to share with our group. She was also very mindful of focusing on our group, making sure everyone was present as we walked through the museum, taking breaks when needed, and going at our pace/not trying to rush through. My husband and I were lucky enough to secure two separate museum tours with Anna while we were in Amsterdam for a brief stay. She accompanied us to the Van Gogh museum & Rijksmuseum, making each thoughtfully curated 2 hour tour a fact filled, fun and very interesting learning experience. Anna gave us a great tour of the Van Gogh museum. Her approach to the museum was fabulous as she began the tour with a discussion of the timeline of his life. Then we toured the museum seeing the paintings that were created during each period and location. She also discussed the other artists that influenced him both personally and professionally. She did a great job explaining the unusual relationship between Vincent and his brother Theo. I also enjoyed her personality and sense of humor. When I initially chose Anna her bio stated she was a specialist in culture. It gave me pause because I was concerned she wouldn’t be as informed about the specifics of Van Gogh. I was completely wrong to be worried. She was absolutely fabulous and I would highly recommend her to anyone! Very knowledgeable and Organized

I chose to book a With Locals tour because I knew that I could not keep my kids engaged throughout the Van Gogh museum. Anna provided just enough history/background to keep them interested and was patient with them while they worked to complete the scavenger hunt provided by the museum. Prior to our tour, Rolf answered any questions I had about the the Van Gogh tour politely and promptly. During the tour, Rolf used an ipad, story-telling and questions to keep our teen son engaged. He provided as much detail on paintings that we wanted but also gave a broader overview and context for the artist's work. Rolf was kind, patient, and passionate about the subject. Rolf was an excellent guide. Hie knowledge and presentation was outstanding. The 2 hours that we were on his tour just flew by. We took the Van Gogh Museum tour. There is so much to see there. Having this tour allows you to cover the highlights in 2 hours.
