Igor has a background in history and archaeology, and I felt like we were walking around with a professor learning about history, art, and geography in real time. He was accommodating to our timing (and stopping for excellent snacks) while providing nonstop information and storytelling about Bruges from the Celtics all the way through the 1970s. The tour with Igor was the highlight of my trip to Brugge. He was very friendly and made me feel comfortable asking as many questions as my heart desired. And he always had a knowledgeable answer. We had a wonderful time in Bruges with Igor! He has extensive knowledge of the city and its history, and he shared that knowledge in fascinating and relatable stories. He pointed us to some great chocolate shops, explained the history of Michelangelo’s “Madonna and Child,” and helped us understand how access to the sea contributed to the growth of Bruges. He was also very gracious in responding to our tourist requests, such as the best way back to the train station, and where to purchase headache medicine. Igor made me feel that I was in the most interesting history class ever! Highly recommend! Fascinating tour with Igor!

Igor brings an excitement to the history of Brugge. We often hire guides, but not many can get you as enthusiastic about the history of an area as Igor. At the end of the tour, he said goodbye, but as he turned to leave, I stopped him to give him a handsome tip. He said no, but I insisted because the time with him was worth so much more than he charged. Typically we do not tip our guides as they set their own rates.A Guide Who Loves History

What a perfect start to explore Brugge on our first day! Two and a half hours packed with both profound historical information and humorous stories, past and present, highlights and secret places you would never have noticed. And enough things left over to do afterwards - recommended by a true local: to climb Belfried, to see the foundations of Sint Donaas, go for a boat ride, drink the best beer or hot chocolate in town, stroll along the windmills near Kruisvest, see a film about two Irish killers... Having travelled the world himself, Igor had a good feeling for the local treasures, for the people (including his guests) and for timing - to have a rare glance at Brugge's most sacred blood! If you like to ask a lot of questions - Igor will patiently listen and answer. If you stay behind to take a lot of pictures - Igor will wait politely. If you are yourself a local tourguide - you'll enjoy it. Thank you, Igor! We had a wonderful time, just before general lockdown. In the end, you had been too quick for a tip... I always like to do a tour in a new city and this is one of the best tours i've ever done! Igor gave us the perfect mix of history, interesting facts, legends and useful information for the rest of our tour, recommended place for hot chocolate, bars, restaurants and was able to answer all of our questions. You find places you really would never find without a guide. It was February when we did it and cold and windy, but Igor always made sure to try to keep us in the sun as much as possible which was very thoughtful Just book it, you wont regret it!It really was highlights and hidden gems!

He painted a very nice picture of the history of the city and gave us great background information for our later explorations on our own. Also showed us the way around the city center. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour through Bruges with Igor - he was so knowledgable about the history, art and architecture of the city and there wasn't a question he couldn't answer. We not only explored the highlights of the city with him, but Igor pointed out many "hidden gems" as he called them - places that one wouldn't find on one's own. He gave us many suggestions regarding museums and places to visit so that we made the most of our next few days in the city. This tour was more than we expected to have. Igor was our guide in Bruges and was wonderful. Took us to hidden areas off the beaten track so we missed some of the massive crowds, but also got to see the normal tourist "must sees". He was very knowledgeable and we loved his historical perspective. Also he was simply a nice man to walk with through the streets of Bruges. We booked a private tour for six people with Igor, and we all really enjoyed it. He asked us what we were interested in and if we’d like to see any specific sites, and organised the tour around that. My husband and I came to Europe for our honeymoon, along the way we stopped in Bruges! Our family of 4 had a 1.5 hour walking tour of Bruges and it was great! He was knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of the city. We covered a lot in a short period of time. My husband and I are academic types, so Igor fully satisfied our inquiring minds about the history of gorgeous Bruge.
