I have been doing a lot of travelling through Europe for the past few years and this was by far the most disappointing food tour I have ever been on ! The website and other food tour reviews seemed fine so we felt this would be a good experience. The amount that we paid 37000 HUF per person did not come close in value to the disappointing food and experience. NO alcohol pairings at all for a dinner tour except 2oz wine at first place.! I have never seen this esp for high priced tours that advertise drink pairings. We were barely offered water unless we asked! Only 4 stops, bite size samples first, strudel piece with NO drink we had eat while walking, sausage at dirty place , street chimney cake , asked to share and get plain one. It appeared that our guide was not planned and tour not customized before as a private tour. It also appeared that everthing was done on the cheap so I am not sure if the company or guide pay for the food. Most of the time was spent walking . The guide was nice and I am sure does great history or other tours but this was by no means even acceptable as an advertised food tour for this price and I have done many. This is the first poor travel experience review I have written in my life but was so disturbed by the quality of this experience as my first time using Withlocals vs other sites. Very disappointed customer :( Extremely poor value

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful experience touring the Castle District with Zsuzsi. We only wanted to book a couple of hours and even though it was quite a short amount of time we saw so many beautiful views and historical buildings. Zsuzsi was very helpful and gave us a great insight about the city and of the castle district and surrounding areas. She even treated us to a lovely Hungarian folk song at the end of the tour inside an ancient dome. An excellent and truly memorable experience!Great two hour castle district tour!!

Andras was a wonderful guide and took us to 2 good places to eat. The 3rd was a wine shop and he did purchase a bottle of wine for us plus we purchased a few of our own. We really thought we would have a bit to eat at lots of different places and not a lot at just 2 places. Quite expensive tour for what we gotFun tour but not worth the price.

We arrived in Budapest without knowing more than the basic information about it. We only had two days in Budapest and we decided to make the most of our tour so we hired Andras for 5 hours which wound up being closer to 5 1/2 hours. He loved every minute. Andras is truly a local. He was born and raised in Budapest. He is very knowledgeable, energetic and friendly. He was able to read us pretty well and took us to all the interesting places and then some. We were very happy with our experience. Great introduction to Budapest

Zsuzsi was a great guide and spent a Saturday afternoon giving me exactly the overview of the city I was looking for. She was a very pleasant conversationalist and knew much about local history and culture. We had a wonderful lunch next to the skating rink and palace and then proceeded to tour much of the Old Town by car. It was a very nice afternoon and I had a good idea of what places I wanted to return to in order to explore in more detail. I can highly recommend Zsuzsi . She took my husband and I on a tour to the 3 main towns of the Danube Bend. She was very easy to work with and was very personable. She had wonderful suggestions on things to do in each town. She is a great photographer, and we also discovered that she has a fantastic singing voice. This came to light because the acoustics at the top of the Estergom basilica are really good and she sang an entire Hungarian folk song. It was beautiful! She wound up calling and making a lunch reservation at Gundel Restaurant for my husband and me for the following day, and over the next few days, she What’s Apped me to see how the rest of our trip was going and continued to give suggestions on things to do and places to go, which in my mind is all above and beyond. Beata was a great guide who taught us a lot about Hungarian food (since it was a food tour.) She found us easily and made sure we didn’t get too hot in the above normal temperatures. She also shared her love of Budapest and her life with us, which was wonderful. Her English was great and very understandable. We had 2 day tours with Emoke for 4 hours each day to tour around the city of Budapest. We started at the Heroes Square where Emoke introduced the 14 kings and warriors with the sculptures enacted there. She gave us a great introduction of history to the rest of the tour. We enjoyed the two day tour with her. She was patient, and clearly knowledgeable about the ancient past of Hungary, Buda and Pest and also communist time and the period it was liberated. I would give our personal guide, Zsuzsi, 10 stars if I could. She took us on a fabulous day tour of the Danube Bend just outside of Budapest. She is quite knowledgeable and made the very hot day pleasant and fun. Although we arranged an itinerary ahead of time, she was great about including some spur of the minute stops - including an excursion into a sunflower field! We booked Emoke for a 5-hour tour of Budapest. It was our last day of a two week trip through Eastern Europe, so 5 hours might have been a bit too aggressive. Nonetheless, we hung in there with Emmy and were rewarded with an incredible amount of information, presented at a pace that allowed us to absorb it all. We had a prior excursion provided by our cruise company. We asked Emmy to plan our time together without repeating our previous itinerary. She did a great job, showing us some interesting parts of Budapest that helped us understand Hungary's complex and long history. We also appreciated that she didn't just leave us in the middle of a foreign city, but rather took us back to our hotel via the Metro and tram. Thanks for a great day, Emoke.Great history lesson

Andras took us on an interesting tour that showed contrasts of the old and newer more popular parts of Budapest. He is so knowledgeable and really fitted the experience around what our interests were. We loved it and learned lots about the country and its people. Budapest is busy with traffic but we felt safe following Andras along the roads and cycle paths. We’re all in our fifties and haven’t cycled for years but it’s made us keen to start cycling again! My wife and I had arrived earlier in the afternoon, and had a scheduled a tour with Bea in the early evening. She was the perfect introduction to Budapest, helping to orient us both on the major sites and on some of the nooks and crannies - the lessor known sites - and enabling us to navigate our way around for the balance of our visit. I had booked the tour months in advance and had told Emoke in a personal message what we like and are interested in (like not so much modern art, but love history, etc). Not only was she very approachable and always fast to respond beforehand, she also prepared a tailored tour - just for us. With a lot of patience, dedication, humor and depth she guided us through Budapests city center showing us hidden jewels, while giving us a unique view and experience in this beautiful city. I can’t recommend walking with her highly enough!! Today we visited again many of the paces she showed us yesterday. And we visited St István Basilica and St Matthias church as well as the palace and we remembered many of the anecdotes and good to knows she told us. Restaurant Retek it is tonight. With wonderfully positive spirits, inspired by the Hungarian national pride, colorful fabrics, fine porcelain and the heroic stories of the Huns. Zsuzsi (Budapest Personal Guide) met us at our hotel and took us on a lengthy walking tour that took us through the city on both sides of the Danube River with her guiding our steps and providing so much information and history; we were amazed at what we saw, and delighted to learn so much about an area of the world that was new to us. The tour was so well organized, and the information she provided had us spell bound as she was able to weave so much history and local customs into every step we took. It was a tour like no other we have experienced. Not only was she a wonderful photographer for our memories, but also surprised us with a beautiful folk song with her beautiful voice! We knew immediately that we would like to return to Budapest again, and if we get the chance to do so we will engage Zsuzsi (Budapest Personal Guide) again to experience more of her charm, her knowledge, and the experience of other aspects of the Hungarian culture beyond the city. She left us with so many great suggestions on where to eat and other places we could visit on our own during our time in Budapest.
