Thomas took my travel group of 8 around Athens for half a day and everyone had a fabulous time. Thomas is engaging and knowledgeable. He first made sure that the rest of our stay in Athens was well scripted and made useful suggestions. Then we set off pounding the pavement and the time flew by in an instant. Between the historical background, the anecdotes, and the jokes, even the teenagers were engaged which happens approximately never. He catered expertly to the needs of our very needy group, including pit stops of different varieties. Great time; highly recommended!An expert with a great personality!

We would highly recommend Voula. Our group of 4 ladies booked a 5 hour walking/food tour with Voula and we are still talking about it today. Voula was so knowledgeable and personable . Guiding us around was like she was one of our friend group. After meeting for 9:00am we headed over for a mini tasting of a cheese pie and a milk cream pie. From there we explored the history of Athens. Lunch with so many tapas was incredible followed by an olive market sampling. We tried so many different olives. Off to see many different markets including the fish and meat market where Voula arranged a sampling of a Souvlaki a recipe from Northern Greece before heading off for desert of honey donuts and ice coffee. It was the most perfect tour we’ve had yet. Everywhere she took us the people were incredible. One VERY important thing to note, a lady in our group was celiac (very special diet because she also had food allergies) and Voula did an absolute incredible job to manage this. Our friend ate like a queen that day and she was so grateful for that experience. Thank you Voula for that. We highly recommend Voula……Voula thank you once again. It was a perfect day. We had a great two days with Thomas, and I highly recommend him to anyone visiting Athens. Our first day was a five hour walking tour of the city, and we had such a great time that a few days later we booked and went on a driving tour exploring the Athens Riviera and the Temple of Poseidon. Both days felt like spending time with a good friend. Thomas is extremely knowledgable about the city and its history, sharing stories and answering questions. He clearly loves what he does, and wants to ensure anyone booking an experience with him has a great time. On both days, he definitely showed us 'hidden gems' that we wouldn't have found by ourselves, which definitely added to the experience. We'd consider a trip back to Athens just to do more of Thomas' experiences! Excellent experience - highly recommend!

We genuinely enjoyed Evanthia and her tour around Athens. She made a great effort to ensure we were all engaged, from a buff like me to a jaded 16yo girl. We covered a lot of territory, from the classical sites to off the beaten path. We had originally wanted to get up to the Acropolis, but bad timing on my part prevented our ability to get tickets. We wanted a private tour for four people the day after our daughter’s wedding on what ended up being the hottest day in Athens so far this year. HOT 🥵 Alexandros took care of everything and took great care of us. We went into the air conditioned museum and learned about fascinating parts of Greek history and the museum would have meant so much less without Alexandros. Then onto the climb to the Acropolis. We stopped in shady spots along the way for him to explain what we were seeing. There is so much more there than we realized. Alexandros made it all very interesting and he has a great personality. We had a fantastic food tour with Voula last week. We were so happy that we decided on a private tour and that we picked Voula as our guide. We enjoyed it from start to finish, and it felt more like exploring authentic Athens with a friend than a guide. The places she took us to were all amazing, and she is very knowledgeable about both the food culture and the history of Athens. Other guides can – understandably – seem like they are just delivering a memorized monologue for the 100th time. With Voula, we did not feel that way, and she was very interested in engaging with us and answering all our stupid questions. Alex was more than agreeable to my request to create a custom 6 hour tour of the Acropolis, Museum, and Agora with a lunch break built in. He walked me through purchasing the necessary timed tickets. Niko was very flexible to accommodate our unique timing and needs. He had great stories and history to share. We visited a local gem of a cover beach. Ioanni was amazing!!!! We were SO happy we hired him for our morning tour through part of the center. Ioannis masterfully wove mythology, architecture, history, and cultural information all together. We had two teenagers with us and while history and mythology isn’t really their thing, ioannis included them and made it a bit more interactive. We loved his explanation of the Agora, our walk through Anafiotika (neighborhood of tiny homes at base of Acropolis in the Plaka), and our walk through various neighborhoods. So much info packed in a few hours!!!! Wonderful!

Overall the tour itself was just okay- a bit disappointing, actually. We were so excited about this tour and were really looking forward to the personalized and more intimate experience of hiring a tour guide from withlocals. I sent a message a month in advance to let our guide know a bit about us and our goals/interests for the tour and never heard back. I reached out again a couple days in advance through the website and finally heard back. However, when we were on the tour, it really didn’t seem like our guide read anything I wrote. The tour wasn’t personalized at all and honestly it lacked energy and enthusiasm. The time spent walking between locations was in silence whereas most tours I’ve been a part of the guide takes that time to tell stories or preface us with information for the next location we will be seeing. I will say, we definitely learned a lot about architecture and a little bit about the history of Athens and Athens’ occupiers which was so fascinating and I would have loved to learn more. I love history and hearing stories about past events, sadly, what history we did learn was spotty and disjointed which made it hard to put the pieces together. We enjoyed getting some lemonade near the foot of the Acropolis and hearing a bit more about our guide’s life and some details on modern Athens. I really don’t mean to be too harsh because our guide was a kind person but the tour wasn’t at all what we were expecting based on the descriptions on the website and the price.Athens Hidden Gems Tour

Ioannis was a wonderful guide. He is very knowledgeable about this history of Greece. He took up on the Cape Sounio tour. Ioannis was prompt, friendly, passionate about Greece. He truly went out of his was to meet any requests we had. He chose a wonderful lunch spot for us along the coast, which had the freshest seafood and a stunning view. He found us a perfect spot along the coast free from the crowds, we went on our tour on a Greek holiday, so the beaches were unusually busy. We thoroughly enjoyed the Athens Food Tour. Our guide, Makram, made the experience great. He was friendly and gave us new information about Athens and its history. We had the most incredible food tour in Athens, all thanks to our phenomenal guide, Voula. From the moment we met her, it felt like we were being shown around by a local friend who knows all the best hidden gems. Her passion for Greek food and culture was contagious, and every stop on the tour was a delight. The Nutella donuts were out of this world — warm, gooey, and absolutely addictive. The visit to the honey store was both delicious and educational; we never knew honey could be that complex and flavorful! The meat market gave us a fascinating peek into daily Athenian life, and Voula brought it to life with stories and insider knowledge. One of our favorite moments was the little shop she took us to, where we tried an incredible variety of feta-based dishes — each one better than the last! We never would have found a place like that on our own. Voula made the experience feel personal, authentic, and truly local. This was so much more than a food tour — it was a cultural deep dive and a highlight of our trip. We can’t recommend her (and this tour) enough! A must do in Athens! Alex gave us a fantastic tour of the Acropolis museum & site. We were with our 3 teenage children & we really enjoyed it. We started in the museum which I would recommend as it’s laid out to mirror the actual site & he spent lots of time with us there explaining the different buildings and interesting artefacts & telling us some v entertaining myths associated. He is obviously extremely knowledgeable but with a very light & entertaining style which made the tour v relaxed. He then brought us through the site itself and nicely reminded us & brought together whet we had learnt & seen in the museum which really brought the ruins to life. He was extremely patients and gave us lots of time & we even had time to stop for coffees and ice creams and a lovely chat about Athenian life between the museum & the site. Thomas was great! Apart from being great company for our afternoon tour, he was highly knowledgeable and knew how to adapt his delivery for myself and my partner. Even more importantly he knew how to relate all the information to our 13 year old autistic son (who is very interested in Greek mythology).
