We had the most incredible day exploring Dubrovnik with Marko as our tour guide! From start to finish, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and so much fun to be around. We started our day walking the iconic city walls, and Marko brought the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia to life, answering our many many questions with enthusiasm. And gave the Game of Thrones fans among us some info too! After the city, we headed out to Lokrum Island for a really fun lunch at nice restaurant where we accidently fed the wild peacocks some lunch and then had fabulous kayaking tour with Marko showing us beautiful coastal caves and getting to do some cliff jumping. If you’re visiting Dubrovnik, do yourself a favor and book a day with Marko. It was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Thank you, Marko, for an unforgettable experience! Wonderful!

Do not let Desa’s small number of reviews fool you because she recently started working with WithLocals. She is a hidden gem of a guide. Having grown up in the old town in Dubrovnik and having been a student of history, she has personal knowledge of the area. This intimate knowledge allowed her to share some of the social aspects of growing up in the old town. Our morning spent with Marko on a history tour was enlightening and we left with a much better understanding of past events. He was punctual, a great communicator and captured our attention during his tour. Mid morning we sat and chatted over coffee (our request) and asked him Qs about his life and that of his family growing up in Dubrovnik and about living through The Balkans War, all fascinating stuff. We learned a lot about her beautiful city during our time together and she was very kind about sharing insider tips to make the rest of our trip equally wonderful. Romana painted a picture of what life is like as a local during the tour by sharing information about her family’s history in Dubrovnik in the context of the history of the city itself. We especially appreciated her tips on buying the Dubrovnik pass, how to get to Mount Srd and how to use public transportation to get back and forth from Lapad. She also offered for us to contact her following the tour if we needed any other information during our time in Dubrovnik, which was so generous, and above and beyond what most guides provide. Our adult family of four toured Dubrovnik on a busy weekend day, and Romana made our tour feel very private and special. Romana was absolutely fluent in English and speaks faster than I can which meant you learned so much in the 2 hour tour. Everything from GOT facts and photoshoots, to the history of Dubrovnik, with some local folklore thrown in for good measure. Highly entertaining, educational and enjoyable. If you are looking for a wonderful, insightful and inspiring few hours in Dubrovnik- you must spend it with Karmen! Her knowledge and delivery are like a field trip for adults who love stories. She IS the hidden gem in this old town and everyone needs to know it! We had one of the best days and Karmen’s recommendations post tour were spot on. Karmen had so much patience with our 4.5 year old. Within 5 minutes they were strolling hand in hand chatting about Dubrovnik. My daughters attention span was not the best, but Karmen kept her engaged and knew when to move on. Karmen was a truly fabulous guide for our family of 4, my husband and me, and a daughter aged 19 and son age 15. As we know, with the ubiquity of smartphones in teenager's lives, their attention span is short. Karmen managed to keep their interest the whole time. She is a native to Dubrovnik and knows both the historical and the more recent history of the area equally well. She even threw in some fun Game of Thrones sites, complete with stills from the show to compare with the actual area in real life. She made things relevant but kept it fun. We booked this for our first night in Dubrovnik to help familiarize ourselves with Old Town more quickly. Ramona was punctual and knowledgeable.
