Had a fantastic time with Joao! He was kind enough to meet us at our hotel to start our walking tour. Then he blew us away with all his knowledge about the city. We love history so encouraged him to teach us about Portugal’s history and he did not disappoint. He took us to the various neighborhoods and gave us great recommendations. His English is superb. We had a 5 hour city tour of Lisbon with Amanda on Saturday, June 14, 2025. It was marvelous! First of all she is so immediately warm and friendly - I felt as though she was a good friend that I've known for years. She took us to amazing spots for stunning vistas, informed us on all aspects of Lisbon; history, architecture, music and my favorite- Portuguese food! She's full of energy and gave us an experience and knowledge of this beautiful city that we would absolutely not been able to achieve without her. She gave us a number of recommendations for dinner after - specifically some with vegan and vegetarian options. It was a perfect afternoon, a highlight of our 10 day trip to Portugal. Miss her already! I highly recommend Amanda! Amanda's the best!!

My friend and I had a fabulous and informative 5 hour tour with Inês. She came earlier than scheduled to our hotel and then began a journey of information and fun. Inês was everything we hoped for in a guide. She was extremely knowledgeable but relaxed and made the tour enjoyable. We learnt a lot but had a great time too. We had a private tour with Lucia at the end of April, booked through Withlocals – and it was simply perfect! Communication beforehand via WhatsApp was smooth and personal. Lucia really tailored the experience to our group – we weren’t looking for dry facts and figures, and she picked up on that immediately. We saw all the major highlights, heard fascinating stories, and got so many insider tips for the rest of our stay. One of the spontaneous highlights was stopping by a local tavern to enjoy a glass of Ginjinha. Lucia speaks excellent German and has such a warm and engaging personality. Jorge brought me to a seafood place and had the most amazing shrimps I've had in my life. He ended up peeling them for me cause I was too slow 🤣 In the short time I had with him I learned a lot about the history and culture of Lisbon and felt that it provided me a great understanding of the area. If you guys are in Lisbon I definitely recommend booking a tour with Jorge. He was knowledgable not only on the history + culture but also political and social affairs. One of the highlights of our 10 day trip through Portugal was definitely our food tour through Lisbon with Angelo. I booked the tour for my family of four which included my husband, 18 and 21 year old kids and myself. We met up with Angelo and he provided an overview of the tour and gave us a bit of a Lisbon history lesson to set the stage. All of the food we tasted during 6 stops was delicious and unique. Angelo went above and beyond in seeking out not only the very best of traditional food but he made an effort to support small businesses that focus on local, high quality ingredients. Definitely go hungry. Angelo's knowledge of Portuguese history and the culture was shared in a way that conveyed his passion for his country and also drew us in so that we began to feel the same. He also followed up after the tour with additional recommendations for things to see and do during our trip as well as providing a summary of all the places we explored and the history discussed. We did the 10 Tastings of Lisbon with Angelo. It was the best afternoon we could have asked for--better than we imagined. As Angelo says, the best way to understand a city is around a table, sharing food, drinks, and conversation with friends. That is what the whole experience felt like. Each spot that Angelo picked for us to visit was off the beaten path and showed us places that we would have never found on our own and allowed us to support small local Lisbon businesses. Not only was all the food absolutely delicious but as we sat and tried each food and drink, Angelo enriched our experience with not only telling us about the history of Lisbon but also about how the food we were eating, the flavors, the history of Lisbon, and contemporary Lisbon all connected in that one bite of food or one sip. It was just a phenomenal experience and Angelo truly felt like a local friend. He is the best! Angelo made us fall more in love with the city and made us want to explore every part of it. Even after the tour, he sent us countless recommendations of markets and bars and activities to enrich our time here in Lisbon according to our interests and passions. Angelo was the MOST AMAZING food tour guide. He toured our family of 5 including teen & young adult kids. He was very flexible trying to work with the holiday and early closures of his favorite restaurants. He reversed the tour to be sure we would make it to all the places he wanted to take us to in order to get a full exposure to many different foods & neighborhoods. Angelo was so incredibly knowledgeable with the history of the food choices he'd made too. Every step he was sharing the history of Lisbon and the food. He chose restaurants that had friendly staff and the freshest tasting foods. We walked to different neighborhoods to really get a taste of what Lisbon has to offer. He was fun, informative and fully exposed us to food we would not have otherwise tried. Even after the tour he followed up with a message with reasons he chose the food he did and listed out all the restaurants for us to go back to enjoy again. He also gave us a full listing of options close to our hotel to enjoy and we chose two of them and were blown away with food. If you're looking for a tour guide that will be very thorough, extremely informative with lots of history and a great follow up to guide you the rest of your stay, choose Angelo!! Sofia was an amazing guide through the local cuisines and snacks of Lisbon. If you’re here in the summer - ask for the land snails (Caracois)!! I didn’t think I would ever enjoy them but they were my favorite. Our vegetarian had no want for food either - that tomato soup was unbelievable. Sofias love of history and of our shared humanity created such an atmosphere for honest and thoughtful conversation that we will remember for a long time. There was enough food for all of us to eat and be full (with lots of leftovers). This is a must for foodies and Sofia is one of the best we’ve ever had. A delicious feast of food and conversation

Our family of four were lucky enough to spend a magical evening with Alphé touring and eating throughout Lisboa. He took us to a longstanding cafe, a charming family run restaurant filled with local families, and amazing pasteis de nata spot where they are made right in front of you. We got to sample some delicious authentic Portuguese food and he made certain to point out buildings with exceptional craftsmanship, beautiful chapels, and jaw-dropping renovations. He even sent a follow-up list of stores and other restaurants and historic spots to visit during our trip. I can’t recommend this experience with him more highly- it was like touring Lisboa with a dear friend who had a vast knowledge of their hometown. We all got so much out of this tour- not just yummy food, but a real sense of the town & Lisboa customs and culture. The night we spent with Alphé will stay in our memories for a long,long time! We booked a last minute tour of Lisbon’s highlights and hidden gems and were lucky enough to have João as our guide. Even though he just finished a prior tour, João was enthusiastic, warm, engaging, and clearly loved sharing his love of his city with us. João was very knowledgeable and just a great story teller, bringing Portugal’s history to life. We walked through several neighborhoods learning about their place in Lisbon’s history as well as important literary figures, famous places, and getting a great idea of the layout of this beautiful and vibrant city. Our three hours passed too quickly and ended with a delicious round of ginja. I traveled solo for my first trip to Lisbon. Rodrigo was the perfect choice for a tour guide. He knows literally everything about the city and its rich history and is friendly and funny. Rodrigo was also very flexible and able to show me areas and shops that met my interests. And, his little sidekick, Poznan, is the perfect ambassador for the city. Her tail never stops wagging she greeted everyone with excitement. It was a great tour and I cannot recommend Rodrigo highly enough for solo travelers, families with children or groups.
