Jessica took Yvonne and I on a local bar/izakaya/yakitori tour. Because it was raining steadily, we focused on indoor establishments within a short walking distance.
Jessica is very familiar with local specialties and introduced us unique items that we were unlikely to discover on our own. She also tailored the menu to our tastes, accomodating my desire to try different types of sake and shochu, as well as Yvonne's desire for various types of seafood and preparations. The establishments themselves catered primarily to local residents, and we did not envounter other tourists.
Jessica is fun, a good conversationalist, very knowledgeable about anime and local culture in general, with excellent people skills.Wonderful experience, delightful guide
The two of us had a super morning with Josh, exploring the coast and countryside nearby Fukuoka. He loves this area and so did we. After two weeks travelling around Shikoku and Kyushu it was amazing, really cool beaches/coast/cafes on the Itoshima peninsula. Josh can take all the photos for you too, he’s a pro! Head out of the city with Josh!
This was the worst tour I’ve ever done and I have done a lot in my years of traveling. Florent was a nice guy but we paid $600 for a tour that didn’t include any of the advertised food or drink. We barely received enough portions to feed half the group - many members of our group didn’t get to try the food or had to buy themselves. Didn’t receive drinks as advertised and were taken to grocery stores instead of real restaurants. Overall a real waste of money and time. Other feedback I can give but headline is that this was not at all worth the time and money and I would like my money back.
We ended up trying two sweets from a market, apple pie from a chain, one set of nigiri from a grocery store (for 8 people?), cold yakitori from a grocery store, cold chicken karage from a grocery store, and fish pizza from a baker. The only drink received was bottled tea from the last grocery store. Overall very disappointing. Didn’t even try ramen in the ramen capital of the world.. Not a good tour
Josh has taken photographs for my events multiple times over the last few years. I can say with absolute confidence that his work goes beyond expectation. I have always been more than happy with the results. He seems to have a knack for finding the best shots and you can tell that he has really honed his craft well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.Kids Camp Shoot
We’ve worked with Josh on multiple occasions and in various capacities, on events, video interviews and portrait/candid shots, and can’t recommend him enough! Super professional, down to earth, affordable and accommodating - he’s your go-to photographer and videographer in Kyushu and elsewhere! Can’t Recommend Enough
Took a leap of faith with Josh and he delivered above and beyond! I was looking for a photographer with some flexibility since I didn't know how the weather conditions and timing would be for my proposal. Commercial photography services can be very restrictive with timing, expensive and bland in terms of customer service, so it was a godsend to have come across Josh on Reddit! Looking at his Instagram page and hearing his backstory in person, he's got a wealth of experience behind him.
Even before confirmation, he was very professional and genuinely helpful. He went out of his way to present options, and he was upfront about the cost of his services. There were some initial difficulties with scheduling but he was very much willing to meet halfway. He even updated me regarding potential problems like weather conditions on the day and presented alternatives in case things would seemingly go south on the day.
The shoot was smooth sailing even if we hadn't met in person before. He offered his car to bring us to another venue to shoot, pass for strawberries (the farm was unfortunately closed at the time), talked about his life and asked us about ours. Photography-wise, he has a lot of ideas and manages to direct you in case you're not the most photogenic people. The processed photos were delivered within the 48 hours and came out much to the delight of me and my fiancé.
Photographers like Josh make these kinds of shoots feel very genuine and personal, especially knowing that he has as much fun doing it as you do. I highly recommend getting in touch with him and seeing if he can accommodate you! If ever I'm in the area again, I'd definitely hire Josh again.Exceeded Expectations
Josh is a wonderful photographer in Fukuoka in terms of the happy family photo!
Josh has worked long as a photographer and also has much experience working for children’s school. He understands when children feel happy and how he can help parents/their children express who they are in terms of family bond, smile, and love.
If you would like to take a special and memorable photo in the nature including oceans, mountains, and temples/shrines, you can ask him. Josh will discuss with you and arrange the best situation in Fukuoka.
He is also a great guitar player, so you can have a special time with music while taking photos if you want!Fukuoka City Photographer
Brilliant with Kids
Working with Josh was the best decision we could have made when choosing a photographer for our engagement+proposal. Wanting to propose on Itoshima beach at sunrise, Josh was able to arrange meeting us at the Meoto Iwa in the morning, stealthily capture beautiful proposal photos, and personally take us to different scenic spots around town for more amazing pictures. Not only that, Josh went above and beyond by treating us to a bite at a local bakery and taking us back to our stay along the beach after our shoot. Being local to Itoshima, Josh’s guidance and generosity helped us feel right at home and truly relaxed while in the coastal city for a special first time. Josh also pleasantly surprised us by delivering edited photos back to us pretty much immediately. After parting ways with Josh in the late morning and spending the rest of our day seeing the beauty of Itoshima city, Josh sent edited pictures as a bow on top a perfect engagement right as we made it back home that evening.
Equally as important are those pictures, which are truly perfect. Josh’s artistry and skill undeniably speak for themselves through his work. It’s rare when a photographer can capture not only how a moment looks but also how it feels and Josh did exactly that. All of this resulted in dreamy photos that paint perfect moments.
Words can’t explain how magical this whole experience was for us and how meeting with Josh felt like fate. Everything went right and the experience was perfect. We are happy to say that Josh is a gifted photographer and a great friend.Photographer of the Year
Yohei took us to the places I wouldn't have thought of visiting. He also explained the history and significance of Fukuoka as a trading townYohei took us to the places I wouldn't have thought of visiting.
Josh is a great photographer and worked with us to get the best shots possible for our proposal. Although the location we chose isn’t where he usually shoots, we appreciate that he made sure we have pictures to keep as memories of the beautiful city of Fukuoka.Nokonoshima Shoot
Yohei was prompt with answering my email messages. Communication was very good. He showcased a variety of places. The pretty sakura at Ohori Park, a museum, provided some history, took us to a beautiful Japanese garden, and ended with an interesting shrine. He took pictures of us and pointed out good photo stops. There were 4 of us on the tour and he evenly conversed with us all.Yohei was prompt with answering my email messages.
We had the honour of being the first tour of Yohei. It was a pleasant trip! We talked about the park and the castle, but also about life in Japan and the differences in our cultures. It was nice to talk and walk with a local. Just what we needed to make the trip to Fukuoka more memorable! We had the honour of being the first tour of Yohei.
A wonderful journey. I really enjoyed meeting Yohei and Maya who also joined the tour. Beautiful group showing me around beautiful FukuokaA wonderful journey.
