We had an unforgettable walking tour through the heart of Ravenna’s old town. The experience was both culturally rich and visually stunning. One of the highlights was visiting a breathtaking mausoleum filled with intricate mosaics that felt like stepping into a jewel box of history. The Basilica of San Vitale was equally impressive—its mosaics are some of the most extraordinary I’ve ever seen, full of vibrant color and exquisite detail. We also explored a historic fort with imposing medieval walls, and tucked away nearby was a small, unassuming church that held moving mosaics depicting early Christian martyrs—quiet and deeply powerful. The tour concluded in the city’s charming main square, where we enjoyed a delicious scoop of gelato under the Italian sun. Our guide, Elisabetta, was kind, insightful, and clearly passionate about Ravenna’s rich heritage. She stepped in at the last minute as Pietro was not able to guide us. Luana Puccini conducted a private half-day tour of Ravenna for my wife and me. She put together a fantastic itinerary that lead us to the highlights of the town. She advised us on which train to take from Bologna to meet her in Ravenna and she met us at the train station and walked with us to the medieval center. Her knowledge and expertise was in great depth. She arranged a lunch for us at a local hotspot where we were able to have local cuisine specialties. We also enjoyed exchanging stories about our countries and culture with each other. The title says it all. Luana was knowledgeable, intelligent, thoughtful and sensitive to our needs. But for the extreme heat we could have spent much longer exploring Ravenna's magnificent cultural heritage. Luana freely gave of her expertise and welcomed questions, of which we had many. We thought this was a great tour. We have done quite a few guided tours and this was a very strong one. The UNESCO-designated sites in Ravenna are really interesting and Luana was a terrific guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history and the art, and she was great company. In addition to showing us around the sites and giving us helpful context and background, she arranged for us to get lunch at a terrific restaurant. Overall, it was a delightful day.Fantastic Tour

Luana was such a lovely guide. Luana gave a great historical account of the evocative buildings, the historical Anatomical theatre & university amazing! Catching a train to Ravenna, despite the rain, Luana continued to provide excellent commentary on the monuments, in particular, Basilica of San Vitale, walking along we passed Dante Alighieri's tomb. We ended the tour with a treat to a local mosaic artist, the heart of the history and identity of the community of Ravenna. Highly recommend this tour!Highly recommend this tour!
