My wife and I came to Napoli for the first time and Gennaro treated us to a lovely experience. I found Gennaro on with locals and he was highly reviewed. He is very knowledgeable and was very helpful to planning our vacation. We met up for a mixed food and city discovery tour with Gennaro. He took us both by foot and in vehicle to see some of the most amazing sites. He took us down some paths less traveled, some incredible scenic views, and through the hustle bustle must see areas of Napoli. The multiple food stops along the way really was some incredible delicacies of sweet savory and of course, fried. After eating the multigenerational real deal Neapolitan pizza, I don’t think I can ever have pizza anywhere else again. It’s very difficult to put into words our tour with Gennaro, as I was quite moved by the end of it. Gennaro highlighted the complexities of this incredible city as he guided us around. He sees the city from the eyes of a local, but also from the eyes of an outsider, thanks to time he also spends away from Naples. He explained Naples’ history, how it developed, and how it works today. We walked the main streets, wandered the Spanish Quarter and also took the Funicular to see a truly amazing view of sprawling Naples. We learnt about the light and shade of the city, cultural elements, superstition, religion, food, music, tourism and education. Gennaro is so passionate about Naples and we were incredibly grateful for the time we spent with him (we also did a pizza making class and food tour with Gennaro - all incredible). We had a group of eight of us on our historical walking tour and pizza-making class with Gennaro. I can't express how incredible our experience was! In all, we spent four hours with Gennaro, first with a walking tour of the Old Town, where we learned about the millenia of history that make Naples what it is today. We had two kids in our group, ages 10 and 12, and Gennaro did an exceptional job of making sure they followed everything and were involved in every detail (like when we went into a special shop that makes very unique Neapolitan nativities out of cork) and had all their questions answered. We learned about the historical gates of the city and went to the old fish and food market street. It seemed like everywhere we went, everyone knew Gennaro! He was kind, fun, and took every details into consideration and control, which was great in a city as busy and sometimes overwhelming as Naples! There are so many words that I can use to describe how amazing the pizza-making class was at Gennaro's apartment, but here are just a few: delicious, special, memorable, fun. I would take that class again! We all learned so much and enjoyed every moment of it. In all, I can't recommend Gennaro highly enough. Your group will enjoy your time with him! And we thank Gennaro for helping us with details that made our day in Naples even easier, such as helping to manage our luggage storage and transport. We are history enthusiasts that were keen to have a more detailed tour of Naples & its founding origins. For this reason we sort out a guide that had an in-depth knowledge of Naples history and not the basic history. What a fantastic tour. Gennaro is warm, genuine, knowledgeable, funny and engaging. He loves sharing his hometown of Napoli, not as a tour, but rather an experience. I felt like walking through a new town with a dear friend, whom we knew only for a few hours. The 3-hour tour flew by as we sampled some of Napoli’s famous foods… mozzarella, cuoppo, taralli, pasta, sfogliatelle, limoncello, espresso and, of course, pizza. Tge food on its own was spectacular, but Gennaro made this a truly special experience. One I will remember for and Cheri’s for the rest of my life. Thank you Gennaro. Good communication with Gennaro who offered to take us from our hotel in Pompeii to Ravello. A good organiser and we did all we wanted without stress. We had coffee in a cafe near a car park in Positano and walked around without too many steps involved! He found a great restaurant by the sea in Amalfi and dropped us off, right by it. A good, safe driver, fun to be with and we enjoyed his company. He managed to find olive oil for me to taste & buy and on a photo stop, we experienced an engagement! A great day. I had the absolute pleasure of spending a few hours with him in what turned out to be the highlight of my entire trip to Italy. Gennaro is a passionate storyteller, a true local, and someone who genuinely loves sharing the soul of his city. This wasn't just a pizza class – it was a deep dive into Neapolitan culture, history, and, of course, incredible food. All in all, the pizza class was the perfect mix of learning and laughter — super informative and tons of fun! We started with a walk through a local market, where Gennaro pointed out his favorite ingredients and shared stories about Naples' food traditions. Then we moved to his kitchen space, where we learned how to make real Neapolitan pizza from scratch – dough, sauce, the perfect stretch, cooking, everything! But the best part? Sitting down at a big table, like part of his family, and enjoying our creations alongside some amazing local wine! Gennaro made sure we tasted things I would never have discovered on my own. If you're coming to Sorrento and would like a special food tour, I encourage to consider Giovanni at WithLocals.com. His laid back style fits perfect with the chill vibe of the coast. As a native son of the city, his knowledge of all things Sorrento is vast. Giovanni exposed us to much more than Sorrento’s food, he explained its history, took us to see a fourth-generation wood artisan, gave us tips about tours and showed us sights that are not usually seen when people visit the area. If this is your first trip to the city it is a great way to get acclimated and get the most out of your visit. The Food: I am a bit obsessed about Italian cuisine, and the tour exposed me to more things that I did not know. At our second stop we went to Caseficio Aprede Francesco. We sampled meats and cheeses from the region. I discovered that I love Salame Napoletano. It’s a pork sausage with a slightly smoky flavor, but with an underlying sweetness. We had that with two cheeses, a Provolone del Monaco and a Foridilatte. The latter is similar to a mozzarella cheese but comes exclusively from whole cow’s milk. Caseficio produces it in-house daily. The Provolone is produced locally and has also has a savory, buttery texture that pairs great with the salame. If you have tasted provolone from other areas, you will really like this version. Topping off this stop was a wonderful biscuit known as Tarallo. They are seasoned with lard, brandy, aniseed and other flavorings and then shaped into a circle. They are dry, but oh so savory and are great with wine. So perfect! Our next stop was a family-owned restaurant featuring gnocchi. Coincidentally, it is called Gnocchi, osteria di famiglia. We tasted the pride of Sorrento the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. They first sautéed their gnocchi in tomato sauce, Parmesan, and fresh basil, before baking it in the oven more Parmesan and mozzarella which forms a crispy crust. Yes, there was more wine. We had three other stops: one to try a pasty called Baba, which was a rum-soaked cake shaped like a cork. I am not a sweet person, but my wife loved it and she is a pastry aficionado. Another was at a coffee shop called Gentile Café. Their Neapolitan espresso coffee was really strong with a deep, dark roast. They served their coffee with this Lemon Cake with sweet lemon drizzle that was light despite a copious amount of sugar. Again, my wife approved wholeheartedly. I will finish this review properly, at the Limoncello shop. This liquor is ubiquitous in the region and in downtown Sorrento it is everywhere. We sampled five different kinds of Limoncello, and ate Limoncello cookies, candies, and other products. I think I got drunk in four minutes (not really). We went over our tour time by over 30 minutes, yes Giovanni checked with us if that was ok. We were having fun listening to his families stories and experiences in his hometown. He still spends the tourist season in Sorrento and then goes back to Naples where his family lives now. He started his own tour company there, so apparently we need to go eat pizza for a day with him. Oh no, what will we do?!? We loved our time with Gennaro - he is such a warm person with a huge amount of knowledge of not only food in Naples but also its history and culture. We had our 9 year old son on the tour and Gennaro kept him completely engaged (which is a hard thing to do), without ever talking down to him. The food was great and portions were so generous that we couldn’t eat for the rest of the day. We would highly recommend Gennaro’s tours to others. One of our favourite days in Italy

Gennaro was very knowledgeable and interesting. In our short time together we had a wonderful introduction to the city of Napoli. Unfortunately, I accidentally booked the tour twice. I was told to let With Locals know but I have not been able to figure out how to communicate this to them. With Locals should make it easier to reach out to them for help. Gennaro is a very kind and patient tour guide. I am somewhat of a slow walker and he was patient the entire tour. Thank you. Gennaro is a wealth of area knowledge and my husband and I learned so much from him. He showed us so many hidden gems and is a great driver to boot. Lunch was seaside with a wonderful view. It was one of our favorite meals we had in Naples. I wish we had more time in Naples to spend more touring hours with Gennaro. Until we meet again! Ciao Ciao Gennaro! Thank you.
