My wife and I had three requirements for our Venice guide: 1) Strong English language proficiency, 2) A well-thought out itinerary for how to see and experience the most in our brief time together, and 3) An engaging personality with clear and readily apparent expertise of everything Venice. Matteo exceeded our expectations in every aspect! He has lived in Venice his entire life, has a university degree in art history, and he’s an absolutely charming man. For anyone looking to hire an English-speaking guide in Venice, my wife and I enthusiastically recommend Matteo. He met us at our hotel, walked with us for a couple of hours around the highlights, arranged for a speed boat tour of the lagoon, and then arranged for a trip to Murano for glassware shopping. Mattia held our attention for 3 hours on the Highlights & Hidden Gems of Venice tour. Born, raised, educated in Venice, not only is he very knowledgeable about the history of his home archipelago and the engineering it took to build and maintain its amazing structures for hundreds of years, he is a savvy communicator who is able to entertain while expounding on the current social fabric of its locals. He's a sports enthusiast and an expert skier, making him easily relatable to my Colorado family. To be honest, I was skeptical that my young adult sons would find the tour interesting, but Mattia speaks so energetically about every topic, keeping them fascinated about facts regarding both historical and current everyday living during the entire tour. He showed us the local hospital, the ambulance boats, even the garbage collection boats at work - elements of the current day canal living infrastructure that you didn't think you needed to know. Truly he is the hidden gem of Venice! Do not hesitate to book Mattia for your tour.Informative, entertaining, fun!

Yes, it’s possible! First off, we found Sarah to be a very professional and knowledgeable guide. Our communication prior to end during our stay in Venice was excellent. What I really liked was her in-depth knowledge of the stories behind a lot of of the sites that we saw. What was enjoyable, was to walk down various side streets and then pop out into the plazas to see the important sites, and that was the only time we would come into contact with the throngs of visitors. A little bit of an exaggeration, but really felt we didn’t have to fight our way through the city constantly. I also appreciated the way that Sarah kept our safety front and center of our tour. Given I had my 16-year-old granddaughter with me, this was most important. Venice is a very complicated city and it was nice to have someone with such good local knowledge. All the sites minus the crowds

Marco war pünktlich beim verabredeten Treffpunkt. Dann fragte er, was wir genau wissen möchten. Das ist schon mal sehr schwierig, wenn man nichts konkretes sagen kann. Denn dafür möchte man ja einen Führer. Leider verstand es Marco nicht uns abzuholen. So erzählte er viel über sich selbst und was in Venedig nicht so schön ist. Besser wäre es, wenn er tolle Geschichten über berühmte Vorfälle oder Personen erzählt hätte. So blieb es bei einer Tour die ok war, aber uns nicht begeisterte. Zu wenig interessante Geschichten

Roberto accommodated us 2 days after our originally scheduled tour, as we arrived a day later than expected. The tour he provided was interesting, but could probably be completed in 2 hours. Roberto is an intelligent person who does have a working knowledge of several languages, but I would not say that most English speakers would be able to absorb all of what he says during a tour. We certainly liked learning about his native city and enjoyed his sense of humor too. The only reason we are providing this level of detail is because the cost of the tour was considerable and we would have appreciated knowing exactly what the pluses and minuses might have e been. We truly appreciated Robeto’s flexibilty.

My husband and I are so glad that we chose Giada for our tour of Venice. We really couldn’t imagine a better guide. Her tour flowed seamlessly from one place to the next, and from one topic to the next, as she showed us connections in history, art, architecture, and craftsmanship all over the city. We’ve never had such a skilled guide. And personable! As well as being a treasure trove of knowledge, she was so funny and easy to chat with We did a hidden gems tour so it wasn’t focused on wine and food, but she did introduce us to natural wine which we really loved She also gave us some great recommendations for restaurants that had gluten free options for me. The one we chose for dinner had the most gluten free options that I saw on our entire trip to Italy! She has a deep understanding of pretty much everything - the history of Venice from its historic construction, architectural makeup, trade history, religious and political influences. We had a wonderful half day tour in Venice with Roko. He is super knowledgeable and interesting, bringing history to life and injecting humor into the many sights and cultural treasures in Venice. We avoided crowds while getting to explore some off-the-beaten path destinations, as well as major monuments, like San Marco. Roko kept us fully entertained with his command of history and his obvious personal appreciation for the art and history throughout the city. Valentina agreed to meet us at our hotel and arrived promptly. She gave us an interesting and informed tour of several of the main areas of Venice and indicated other areas we might want to visit during our stay.
