We booked Cosmo for our first day in Hong Kong to show us around and get our bearings and he didn’t disappoint. He met us in our hotel in the morning and took us straight to the bus station so we knew how that worked from the start, tick. On the tour he gave us lots of information about the history of where we were and also what is happening in those places while we are in Hong Kong. Also took us to the metro and showed us how that worked, even helped us with buying the octopus card which set us up for the week. Gave us lots of information about hikes and places to see in Hong Kong on the days after we had been with him. But most importantly we asked him to show us some good places to go out for a drink and he didn’t disappoint. He went above and beyond to show us around and we had a great time with him. Thoroughly recommend a tour with this lovely guy!Book Cosmo!

On a recent trip to Hong Kong, we were looking for a tour to get acclimated with the city. After having good With Locals experiences on previous tours, I opted to purchase the Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour. Having read his positive reviews, we chose to book with Cosmo. Prior to the tour, there was minimal, but effective communication. We were extremely appreciative of the offer for the meeting point at our hotel. Prior to the tour, I made an inquiry about where to find great seafood in Hong Kong, and it appears that Cosmo interpreted it as a request to take a form of the Aberdeen Fishermen Cultural Tour with Delicious Dim Sums Lunch tour, instead of the Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour. He met us promptly at 10:00am, with absolutely no energy. The hope was that as the day went on, he would get more energy, but he never did. He made attempts at small talk, but seemed uncomfortable and unsure of how to properly engage with our small group of three people (two were seniors). At no point did he advise that we would veer off from the suggested Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour itinerary on the website nor did he ask us what we were interested in seeing during the 6-hour tour. The service went from a tour to a transfer service from one place to the next. There was very little history shared and even less interaction. Cosmo often seemed distant and appeared uninterested in proactively providing any historical and/or interesting facts. Although we went to Repulse Bay, Stanley Market and Aberdeen for lunch (not a tour around the harbor), there were no hidden gems or special treat (as stated on the tour’s website). The transfer service really turned bad during lunch (the food was great, the guide was not). We were advised that one of his classmates sold seafood at the market. We went to the stall, chose and purchased items. When asked about the cost to cook the food, Cosmo advised that he did not know and it was based on whoever was available to cook. When we went upstairs, he spoke to one of the cooks and after going back and forth about how the food should be prepared, he advised that each plate would cost $80 HKD each to cook. We had four plates, but may have gotten more or less had we known the amount for preparation. There was no offer to have any side items to complement the seafood and at one point, raised his voice and asked for me to sit down because he was hungry. He sat at the table with us and when the food came, proceeded to begin eating without making a single contribution to the meal. Normally, we would have welcomed the guide to dine, chat and learn about one another, but I was appalled that he would dine with us after being so disconnected. He advised that he was born and raised in Aberdeen and eats at the fish market at least once a month. When I asked him why he seemed unsure about the food preparation costs, he just starred at me without saying a word. Cosmo then stated that he was getting a headache from having to translate, and excused himself to the restroom. Upon Cosmo’s return, one of the elderly men in the group got up to request an extra plate, but Cosmo told him to sit down. I was flabbergasted and made the decision to end the tour after lunch. I do not know what Cosmo had planned for the last hour of the tour, perhaps it was a special treat, perhaps it was going to a see hidden gem, but due to his unprofessional, lackluster behavior, we will never know. This was an instance of either the reviews may have been misleading or Cosmo was just having a bad day. Either way, I am disappointed in this purchase. If you are looking for someone to simply assist with transportation between various sites during your visit to Hong Kong, then Cosmo is an excellent choice. However, if you are looking to learn about the city, culture and/or explore various landmarks, then consider selecting another guide and confirm the tour’s itinerary with the tour guide in advance. Cosmo guided us through a lot of places which allowed us to get a good view how locals spend their time, how they live and work, etc. Cosmo provided us with a lot of information which gave us a good view on local culture, religion, education etc. Really one of the guys to contact when in Hong KongCosmo is one of the best

Cosmo was an excellent tour guide, he was very informative of local life and surroundings in Hong Kong. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience of walking the streets of Kowloon and trying local food tastings. Personal favourites were the coconut milk and baked cheesecake! Cosmo is very kind and patient, we never felt rushed while looking through the different markets. Great tour!! Cosmo was very nice and very informative about the Aberdeen and surrounding areas. I wanted to see more of the Aberdeen fishing village but unfortunately most of it is gone (most of the fisherman live on shore). It was still cool to see the village but don’t expect to see what you saw in the movies. However, the tour was still outstanding and I got to see a lot more than I thought. We saw south district where diplomats from other countries live. Almost the best beach in Hong Kong. Great temples too. Thank you very much! Aberdeen village

We did the night market tour with Cosmo. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and his English was very good. He answered all my questions and even told us about his life and how he grew up in Hong Kong and where he’s traveled. We walked around the flower market, Ladies market and took the tram to the Temple Street night market. We sampled 4 street food items and 1 drink. We didn’t leave overly full which was ideal and we saw some areas we never knew existed. Cosmo even made sure our Uber picked us up before leaving us. We really enjoyed our walking tour with Cosmo. He took us around Central old Hong Kong and Soho district. Nice mix of culture and information. We visited the Man Mo temple and traditional markets as well as popping into new museums. Cosmo answered lots of our questions about getting around Hong Kong. We saw lots we would probably not have noticed in our own. Well worth doing on day 1 of your trip. Cosmo paced the walking well and we got breaks from the heat going into air con museums. My 1st time in Hongkong and I tried to make the best out of it. Hiring Cosmo was one of the best decisions I made. He knows his hometown very well. I had fun to places he took me, from Aberdeen to Repulse Bay beach to Stanley Bay. We had dimsum in Aberdeen while we shared table with 2 local aunties. I enjoyed the experience so much. Cosmo was able to show us around Aberdeen, Rupulse Bay, and Stanley, which are outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. We learned a bit about life as a fisherman and experienced a local wet market and Dim Sum Lunch. We were able to walk along the beach, despite the rain, and visit the Stanley Market where we bought a few paintings to remember our trip. The area was beautiful and we wished we had enough time to return and take a swim at the beautiful beach! Interesting tour outside of Hong Kong

Cosmo is an Aberdeen local and his knowledge of the area is fantastic. His links to the fishing industry gave some great insights. The dim sum lunch was great. Travelling to other areas such as Repulse Bay and meant another side of Hong Kong was discovered. Cosmo was easygoing and helpful at the market. At the end of the tour Cosmo went out of his way to ensure l was able to find some art galleries and where the public transport was located. A great time was enjoyed.Excellent Tour

Ich war alleine mit Cosmo auf Lantau Island unterwegs. Cosmo erzählte sehr viel über das Leben dort, den vertretenen Religionen und deren Tempel und deren Bedeutung. Dabei war immer sehr viel Zeit für Fotos. Ich muss aber auch dabei sagen, dass wir etwas Glück hatten und keine 30 Min. auf die Seilbahn gewartet haben, was nicht oft vorkommt je nach Tageszeit. Wer sich einen Tag Zeit nehmen möchte und mehr als nur das hektische Grossstadtleben Hongkongs erleben my, sollte unbedingt diese Tour buchen. My husband and I enjoyed our evening with Cosmo and experiencing the local food of Hong Kong. It was a little different than I expected as Hong Kong does not do street food as we had experienced in other cities like Bangkok or Singapore. Instead, Cosmo took us to several local restaurants where we experienced food as the locals would eat. Don't let his initial quiet demeanour fool you, he is a very interesting and talented guy who has adventurously travelled the world solo. It was interesting to learn about his family and see some of his art work. He also told us about the history of the Hong Kong as we travelled around (and took the tram) and it was great to have him talk about the street art as well. From the moment we started communicating with Cosmo we knew he was a "Local" and loved what he was doing. Meeting him in Lantau Island we started our journey on the cable car up to the Buddha. An amazing 25 minute ride in comfort up to the top of the mountain - wow Hong Kong looks amazing from there. Then a leisurely walk around the summit and into the beautiful temple and then up the 268 steps to the Buddha. What a great story of dedication and resilience in building this monument. We then boarded a bus and went into a little fishing village which was quaint and "set back in time". Going for a little boat ride around the waterways and then out to the sea looking at the amazing structure of the bridge (that goes underwater) and looking for dolphins. Back on land we stopped for looking around the village and having some lunch. After this heading back to the bus and down the hill, like a local, finishing back at our starting point. A full day of wonder and history. Cosmo is interesting and knows the history of the area. Thanks for a great day! Highly recommend.A fabulous day with Cosmo

I had the 10 Tastings of Honkong: Streetfood with Cosmo and that was great. I had such a good and delicious time. Apart from the restaurants, which I never would have been able to enjoy as a tourist, also the walks and public transport was really great. If not for Cosmo, I would most likely not have used the charming tram for instance. And he showed and explained to me so much about the food (caterpillars, fish stomach, abalones, exotic fruit and many more), that is sold in the little shops and street stalls. He also shared historical and other interesting details about Hongkong, taking all of my questions into account. It was not all about food, also lifestyle, art and other offerings of Hongkong were brought to me. The Yum Cha in the genuine restaurant will always be a special thing to remember.Yummie and only possible with local guide

Cosmo is a very sweet man who tries very hard to be an excellent guide. I think he is shy by nature and that sometimes creates a bit of awkwardness in his abilities to lead a group. He needs to walk with the group rather than ahead and answer questions about the city or culture with more facts rather than personal anecdotes. His choices of where to take us were excellent - we had all been to Hong Kong before and Cosmo showed us places none of us had ever been! We had a pleasant 2 days with Cosmo, but I do think with a little refinement, he could be a much better guide.Tries Very Hard

Cosmo was a very engaging and experienced guide. My metric for assessing him was how he connected well with my teen sons who came away saying the whole experience was awesome! I work with people every day around human connection so immediately recognised and ignored the communication 'rub' and saw and felt in Cosmo someone who 'cared' about his city, its people and its (rich) history and someone wanting to share his unique lens of these with us. My boys have traveled all over Asia since kids and while they were much older teens now their connection with Cosmo and how engaged they were, were highlights for me. They are approaching university age in the coming years so student life is on their radar now so Cosmo's walk and graphic narration through the Soho District of how student life is left an impression on my sons. We arrived 5 minutes early at the agreed meeting point, which was very clear from the communication. Cosmo was ready and 10 seconds later we were on the move. We had a wonderful 3 hours with a very interesting walk with many points of interest. Cosmo was very knowledgable and had many good stories. I can fully recommend Cosmo, just book.
