If you are considering booking a tour with Luci, do it! She’s the best! My family and I arrived in Lisbon 3 hours later than planned, jet lagged and tired. Luci was our first introduction to the city. She was funny, insightful, kind, and just an overall joy to be around. As soon as we met she made an effort to get to know my kids (1 and 3 years old) and to incorporate them into the tour. Wherever we went, she ordered little treats for them and made them feel special. She also introduced us to new foods and local restaurants that we never would have thought to try on our own. By the time the tour was over, we had completely forgotten about how tired we were and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun we had all had. If we ever come back to Lisbon, we will no doubt book another tour with Luci. Thank you, Luci, for making our first day so special!Luci is amazing!

One of the highlights of our 10 day trip through Portugal was definitely our food tour through Lisbon with Angelo. I booked the tour for my family of four which included my husband, 18 and 21 year old kids and myself. We met up with Angelo and he provided an overview of the tour and gave us a bit of a Lisbon history lesson to set the stage. All of the food we tasted during 6 stops was delicious and unique. Angelo went above and beyond in seeking out not only the very best of traditional food but he made an effort to support small businesses that focus on local, high quality ingredients. Definitely go hungry. Angelo's knowledge of Portuguese history and the culture was shared in a way that conveyed his passion for his country and also drew us in so that we began to feel the same. He also followed up after the tour with additional recommendations for things to see and do during our trip as well as providing a summary of all the places we explored and the history discussed. We did the 10 Tastings of Lisbon with Angelo. It was the best afternoon we could have asked for--better than we imagined. As Angelo says, the best way to understand a city is around a table, sharing food, drinks, and conversation with friends. That is what the whole experience felt like. Each spot that Angelo picked for us to visit was off the beaten path and showed us places that we would have never found on our own and allowed us to support small local Lisbon businesses. Not only was all the food absolutely delicious but as we sat and tried each food and drink, Angelo enriched our experience with not only telling us about the history of Lisbon but also about how the food we were eating, the flavors, the history of Lisbon, and contemporary Lisbon all connected in that one bite of food or one sip. It was just a phenomenal experience and Angelo truly felt like a local friend. He is the best! Angelo made us fall more in love with the city and made us want to explore every part of it. Even after the tour, he sent us countless recommendations of markets and bars and activities to enrich our time here in Lisbon according to our interests and passions. Our family of four were lucky enough to spend a magical evening with Alphé touring and eating throughout Lisboa. He took us to a longstanding cafe, a charming family run restaurant filled with local families, and amazing pasteis de nata spot where they are made right in front of you. We got to sample some delicious authentic Portuguese food and he made certain to point out buildings with exceptional craftsmanship, beautiful chapels, and jaw-dropping renovations. He even sent a follow-up list of stores and other restaurants and historic spots to visit during our trip. I can’t recommend this experience with him more highly- it was like touring Lisboa with a dear friend who had a vast knowledge of their hometown. We all got so much out of this tour- not just yummy food, but a real sense of the town & Lisboa customs and culture. The night we spent with Alphé will stay in our memories for a long,long time! We booked our food tour last minute (within two hours of the tour). David was very responsive! He showed us around the city, giving us a lot of history about Lisbon, the food, the drinks. We tried many different foods which were all very tasty. And it's fun to walk around town with a local and get little tid bits along the way. He certainly went the extra mile, showing us different rooftops, ways to get around Lisbon, and truly a lot of history, which we really enjoyed. I would highly suggest David to anyone. We loved the history content but were surprised with wine and food part . Normally we do just a history group walking tours ( free sort of ones if available) . We only had 3 nights in Lisbon, with one day spent in Sintra we decided to have a private tour covering all aspects of local culture. We totally enjoyed the history part but I thing the food /wine part is guided by the Company guidelines and it wasn’t what we expected for 250 euros . The lesson - don’t assume - ask , I mean ask about what food , wine experiences have been planned. If it’s private it should be tailored to some extent to your liking. We only visited two places and neither did wine testing . First place ( like a milk bar in Australia) offered a sweet white wine out of the 4 L cask .. not something we would drink plus my husband doesn’t drink white wine at all ( sulphate issues). Second place - lunch in a local tavern . Food was nice but it wasn’t tasting as we only had 2 dishes .. and a bottle of red covered with a brown paper .. not sure why but it was a nice wine . Desert was a take away .. yes pastels de nata , yummy of course:) So looks like the Company gives quite low budget do the guides for the food and wine as it’s far from to be called tasting and the price is over the top for what you get . My price value rating is based on the food / wine part as the history only tours are worth 20-50 euros per person in the group setting . For the private tour - the question is what would you like / dislike is what anyone would expect . For the history/ culture knowledge we would give Alphe - 10 ! He was amazing! Great guide but questionable company

Seven of us, from the US, followed Sofia around the old section of Lisbon, where we received an interesting history lesson, as well as enjoying a wide variety of food tastings curated exclusively by her. A tour with Angelo was the perfect addition to our stay in Lisboa. He took us on a fantastic wander around the city center, as well as some of its eateries, weaving history and gastronomy into a memorable stroll. We met Alphié the first evening we were in Lisboa where he took us on a walking food and wine tour. He is so knowledgeable and personable that we fell for him. He knew every date and year of what happened in Lisboa and never failed answering a question with all the history that happened over the last 1000 years. He told us we were going to all “medieval foods” that were popular in the Knights Templar time. Alphié knew so many people that these people welcomed us with open arms. He had us try foods we’d never had before nor would we have eaten until Portugal. We highly recommend Alphié for a tour..we promise you won’t be disappointed! We had scheduled a tour with Angelo for April 28. He adjusted the tour so that we could meet near our hotel (in Alfama). He was on time (even early) .. and we set off. We already knew some of the history of Lisbon from earlier tours, but Angelo added his own perspective and filled in some gaps for us. As we arrived at the first location, we discovered that the power had just gone out - and we unable to try the Pasteis de Nata that he had planned. This was no big deal, as we had tried them at Belem the previous day. We tried another location that Angelo knew, but they too had no power -- and we were slowly discovering that this was a major power failure, affecting both Spain and Portugal. We then moved on to trying Ginginha (at a little spot just off a square). We were impressed that at each place, Angelo clearly knew the owners, and seemed he was getting some special (faster) treatment. We next went to try bifana (which was awesome!) and then an empanada (also amazing). When we arrived at the wine and cheese tasting, we had a slightly bigger problem -- it was a small place, with no light - and there was already a large group at the only large window! He worked with the team there to find a solution .. and eventually we ended up right by the window. We wondered back over into Alfama for our final stop, at a lovely place a few steps from our hotel. Angelo knew the owner well (he came over and chatted with us for a while). We were supposed to try Pastel de Bacalhau there, but they couldn't make those without electricity -- so we had sardines on toasts instead. I hadn't tried these -- and they were actually very good. Meeting Andre’ was great. he was full of enthusiasm, knowledge and had a great way about him. We set off to taste some wonderful experiences whilst also getting a history lesson and some Lisbon secrets from Andre’. He is fun, alive and exactly what we wanted from a guide in his own Country! Would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of doing this. A wonderful experience

We found Sonia to be personable, well-informed on history and the area culture and definitely connected to the local foods, restaurants and vendors. We have been on many food tours and Sonia is either the best or near-best we have ever had.Excellent tour!
