Rita was fun loving and knowledgeable. She takes you on a tour tailored to your ages and interests. She took us on a winding tour of Lisbon to areas and places we would never have found on our own. We visited hideaways in Chiado, Bairro Alto, Bica and Alfama which included bookstores, mysterious fountains, former brothels and a bar that was the Portuguese version of a beatnik hangout. Rita was an amazing guide for our day exploring Sintra! I expressed my dream of seeing Peña Palace and Regaleira in one day. Rita expressed worry about the achievability of this plan, but was willing to try to make it work! We made it work! It was an enjoyable experience, though a bit of a workout! Wear comfy shoes! After touring the beautiful grounds of Peña and Regaleira, Rita took us to a delightful place with beach access for lunch. We had hoped to make it to Cascais as well, but ran out of time. Rita was willing to hang with us as our kids enjoyed the beach. She was engaging with the kids - perhaps because she has two kiddos that are similar aged. The day felt like spending a day with a friend. She shared with us her love for the area, which made the tour a great learning and fun time! We did the Family Friendly Lisbon tour with Rita on our second day in Lisbon and loved it. We have two boy aged 6 and 3 and while it was a lot of walking for our oldest (the youngest was in the stroller), Rita made sure to take lots of breaks and show us fun playground for the kids so they wouldn't get bored. She helped keep them entertained while educating us on the different neighborhoods of Lisbon and where to go and what to avoid. The icing on the cake was the trip to Santinis for the best gelato we ever had and I think we visited that store 4 more times while we were there. If you're going to Lisbon with kids, make sure to book a tour with Rita. PS - She also made herself available on WhatsApp for general recommendations and advice, which was a game changer when we weren't sure what to do or to go to one place vs. another.Amazing family tour - great for young kids

Rita is AWESOME. Genuine, innovative, experienced, kind, and great with kids and adult lovers of history and culture. Even our very grumpy 5 year old survived the whole experience and we somehow donned wings with Rita who dramatically minimized any climbing and brought some smiles to the sour complainer among us and gracefully delivered a welcome blend of kid accommodation and adult education and humor. Rita is an excellent guide. She has passion about Portugal and was so informative about the history and culture. The tour I booked was for Belem but it was so much more. I felt like I was on a tour with an old friend. We stopped by the original pastel de nata bakery- that was the best of all the pastries I had during my trip. Our guide to Fatima and Nazare was Rita. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable. I wish we could have had another tour with her. Her knowledge and insight into Fatima was appreciated. As Catholics we appreciated saying the rosary at the little church. She understood our reverence for the site, and gave us opportunity to pray. She also provided insight into the churches and the Portuguesse feast days. We had a good meal at a local restaurant and she guided us to the best selection. Finally she was aware of our interest in Nazare. The waves were not rolling, but she shared her experience seeing the big waves. I would recommend Rita and a guide. An absolute win starting off our holiday in Portugal with "withlocals". The experience provided a base for further "withlocal" tours we did in other cities. We had a terrific time exploring Lisbon with Rita! She was full of interesting tidbits of information and gave us lots of tips and tricks to make out time in the city easier! We did this tour our 1st full day, and not only did it help us orient, but she also showed us elevators and tunnels and ways to avoid climbing all the big hills that we used the rest of the trip. She also suggested several excellent restaurants that we ate at later and enjoyed. The burnt church was one of the most interesting things, and hearing the history of the revolution and the big earthquake were also fascinating. We enjoyed sharing little cups of Ginjinha too! We had a wonderful day visiting Sintra with Rita! She is very knowledgeable about this area and knew not only the history and details of the castles but also helpful things like when to arrive and the best path to walk to avoid the crowds. Rita was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Not only is she extremely knowledgable about her hometown of Lisbon, but she is such a fun and enjoyable person to hang out with! Her personal connection to the city was fascinating along with her knowledge of Portuguese history. She shared stories from her grandmother, parents and her childhood which helped us connect to what we were seeing. We had spend some time in Lisbon before but she took us to areas we had never seen and provided excellent food recommendations.
