Our tour with Hoa was perfect. Hoa was fun, enthusiastic, kind and really engaging. She was full of information for the adults and lots of fun for our kids. She went to extra trouble to engage with our girls and find their interests. We walked around the Old Quarter, went to Train Street, rode on cyclos and went to two places for beautiful food. Hoa was disappointed with the food we had eaten earlier in the day when we showed her photos and took us to an extra place for amazing dry Pho at the end of our tour which went extra time as a result. The banh mi we had with her was also incredible. The tour was a highlight of our 2 days in Hanoi.Amazing tour with Hoa

Adults loved the tour. It was interesting and the kids learned a fun game too! The teaching at the lake was wonderful. Our kids are still talking about being “fish dragons”! I do wish there would have been more time at the market to actually shop. Bring food along if your kids are not into Vietnamese food. Hoa is lovely! After a great experience when using withlocals in Malaysia , we decided to try it again in Hanoi. Our initial contact with our guide was promising, but the tour was changed to another guide without explanation. We booked a family friendly walking tour which promised a lot of special child friendly stuf, but got a standard walking tour. The tour was nice and visiting a ceremony in a hidden temple was great, but just not what we booked. Except for the temple, we could have dome the tour by ourselves. The guide was friendly, nothing bad about her, but thr experience was disappointing all in all.Disappointing tour, not what we booked

We had the pleasure of a lovely tour with Ruby at the end of June, 2024 with our family (3 kids - 12, 11 & 6). Ruby was fantastic, and catered the tour to our kids with breaks for sugar cane juice, ice cream and cake to keep them interested. I honestly couldn’t ask for anything better. Choosing Loan to show us around Hanoi on a rainy day with my family was surprisingly fun. We have a 2-year-old with us and he’s having a great time the same as adults, maybe even more. Loan is such a genuine, sweet, and understanding person with lots of passion and stories to share. Her energy is so calming, so authentic. Though our tour exceeded the time due to the baby and the weather, she is still very happy to show us around and never pushed us to end the tour faster. We did a 2.5 hour walking tour of the Hanoi old town with Hoa from with locals. It was fantastic. She was very energetic and informative. We were traveling with our 8 and 11 year old kids and she did a great job of recognizing their needs and interests, but at the same time gave my wife and I some good historical perspectives and information. She was very helpful in providing good information about the meet up spot and was available and open to questions and other city suggestions via WhatsApp. I booked several tours withlocals while in Vietnam and I would highly suggest using Hoa as a guide in Hanoi. If Hoa is the guide, take the tour

Ruby was great, very knowledgeable and kind. An hour into the tour, my three year old got a bit overwhelmed by the heat and intensity of Hanoi, but my five year old stuck it out with my husband, and Ruby showed them many wonderful parts of the city. So my only advice: only do this tour with kids over five. There’s a lot of walking. Excellent tour guide

When we met Ruby for our first tour, she was very warm and friendly, and we soon felt like we were being shown around Hanoi by a family friend. Ruby was a fantastic guide, we were lucky to get her as we booked so last minute. We were not looking for anything to deep and heavy and she accommodated us with a brilliant highlights tour of Hanoi city. We learned some amazing facts and history on our walk around the town. Ruby also took us for traditional Egg coffee and gave us directions where to get the best coconut iced coffee in town - WOW they were amazing! I think if we'd had more time and energy Ruby had a million more things to show and tell. This is the second walking tour we did with Trang but this time food tour. Trang is an amazing guide with great English and such a warm friendly person. I had a few food places and cafes I wanted to go which Trang incorporated into our tour without any issues. She took us to some places I would not have gone otherwise and the food was so tasty. We all (family of 4) loved every bit of it and would highly recommend Trang as your guide. This would be a great tour to do at the start of your stay in Hanoi. A Must Do!

Being a Sydney based Withlocals tour guide I wanted to do a tour with another WL guide. Ngoc Ruby was a Vietnamese version of me. My husband and I wanted a hybrid city/food tour for 5 hours which may seem like a long time but in my opinion not long enough. This was a wonderful street food tour and well worth doing. Anne was lovely , welcoming and knew the food of her city so well. She completely personalised the food for as we have a vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and eat everything in our family but she made it work so we all had something!
