I booked this holiday excursion as surprise for my family and a celebration experience. I read up on "With Locals" and found Hugo. He is an art historian specializing on the paintings of Versailles. Although we wished we had time to visit Versailles, we were lucky enough to secure Hugo as a guide for the Louvre. Hugo's thorough knowledge of the Louvre itself brought a unique and unexpected perspective. He took us down to the excavation site underneath the building, which was discovered during the installation of the I.M. Pei Pyramids in the 1980s. He talked about the construction and stonework and how the Seine River still makes its presence known. We were taken through to see the Venus de Milo, where he explained its construction (like Legos?) and her missing limbs. He brought us up close to Winged Victory (aka Nike) and how its wings bring balance to the statue. There were so many interesting and new viewpoints that Hugo introduced us to. My favorite was the Mona Lisa. Honestly, I was not as interested in the painting until I heard about who she was and the truth behind her smile. It was an honest and poignant explanation that touched my heart. If you want to know, hire Hugo! If you want a once-in-a-lifetime visit, spend the money and the time to engage a tour guide for the Louvre, especially Hugo. So many people mill around looking at paintings and statues mindlessly without the possibility of understanding their significance. The Louvre came to life with Hugo. Bibiana was a wonderful tour guide, very warm and friendly. She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She made the building and the art come alive for us as she customized the tour to suit our needs. She was very attentive and knew all the elevator routes in the Louvre to help minimize the amount of stairs for my dad, which was very kind. Thanks to Bibiana, my family and I had the opportunity to spend a very pleasant evening at the Louvre. Bibiana took care of buying the tickets in advance (which on our day were free and we didn't have to pay) and quickly helped us skip all the lines. We then decided together on the visit that best suited our needs considering that we only had two hours and also a teenager with us. Bibiana is very knowledgeable and passionate about art and was very patient in answering all our questions. Her enthusiasm was contagious and made us want to return for a more in-depth visit. Booked a private tour guide for the Louvre through WithLocals for our honeymoon in Paris. Such an amazing experience to see iconic works of art, but also to get to know the history and importance of these pieces. Hugo was professional and overwhelmingly knowledgeable, but made the learning experience laid back and loads of fun. His English and education is impressive to say the least! We chose to book a time slot at the Louvre on a Friday evening and had the unique experience of having the museum “nearly” all to ourselves. Hugo made sure to show us the must see exhibits as well as the historically or artistically most important works as well. We had the best time with Fe as our guide. She took us through the highlights of the museum unwinding the history of the development of impressionism, which made the art interesting to even my 12 year old who was not particularly excited about 2 hours in an art museum! Fe was enthusiastic and excited about art history and her knowledge and ability to explain about each work in a fun and exciting way was way beyond our expectations! This was the BEST way to tour a large art museum, especially with kids! Both kids, 10 and 12, thought it was fantastic and that she was amazing. Our family of four loved our Louvre tour with Emilie! I told her our daughters' ages in advance and she prepared a special tour for them, and made sure to point out things of interest for their age level. She saved us a TON of time from skipping the entry line, to being able to use the group visit rest room, to making sure we saw all the important works within our two hours there (the kids can only really muster so much time in a museum before they start losing it :)). We took the Pastery tour with lovely Alexia who skillfully guided us between hidden spots, bakeries and parks in an interesting and fun way. The challange was not the easiest, really warm weather and us already starting the day with another tour and on the day of the festival "the day of the music", that brought half of Paris to the streets, Alexia had done her homework in advance, having multiple bakery options, in case of pasteries beeing sold out and even replanning on the go for a ice cream stop in the heat by choosing the lesser known location to avoid the huge lines at the main shop. The thing that really stood out with the tour was the truely great effort and huge heart Alexia showed during the tour and doing so in a genuin way that made it feel like beeing shown around by a friend. We had a wonderful afternoon with Alexia amongst delicious pastry, magical surroundings and streets filled with music. Fe was amazing. We loved it. The tour was great and she was incredibly knowledgeable. Would not hesitate to book with her again. The only thing I would mention-which is a Tours with Locals issue, unrelated to Fe- is that the tour times listed aren’t necessarily available if tickets are already sold out through the main Louvre site. For example we booked a 9a-11a tour planning on hustling to the Mona Lisa with a smaller viewing crowd but even though she had us pre-book tickets, they were sold out at that time and the earliest available were 10 which allows for a 9:30 entry. Seems like not a big deal but changed our timing of plans for the day and made the Mona Lisa viewing meh. Fe was excellent, made the most of it, and gave us extra tour time so it’s definitely not a Fe issue. She was truly was an exceptional guide. Just double check the Louvre site when you are deciding on time and buy tickets early!! Great tour!

Fe guided my husband and me on a two hour tour of Musee d’Orsay. She was personable, extremely knowledgeable, and a master at maneuvering through the crowds. We learned a lot and saw all of the high points that could be seen in that time frame. She took pics of us at key spots and she was so sweet.
