We wanted to book a tour to make the most of our Louvre experience both for us and our children aged 11 and 13 rather than be overwhelmed with such an huge collection of art and the crowds. We are not art experts and wanted to have a tour guide help us to get the most from the experience and enhance our understanding and appreciation of the amazing and notable pieces on display. We weren’t sure booking a group tour would keep them engaged and give us what we were after so we opted for a personal tour with Bibiana. We found Bibiana to be warm, friendly and fun and in our time together she covered the early history of the Louvre when it was a palace showing us the old foundations and taking us back in time in the history of France before helping enlighten us on the evolution of Greek and Roman sculptures and art. Both my husband and I felt Bibiana gave us a whole new appreciation for the more famous pieces by classical masters and by the time we parted we felt like experts and could admire the art in a whole new way. We appreciated that Bibiana also made sure to engage our children asking them questions and pointing out aspects to them throughout the tour as well. We were able to skip the line to enter through an alternative entry which was also a bonus and time saver given we visited during the Summer when crowds are at their peak. Overall I definitely felt touring with Bibiana enhanced our overall Louvre experience. A fantastic Louvre experience

I booked this holiday excursion as surprise for my family and a celebration experience. I read up on "With Locals" and found Hugo. He is an art historian specializing on the paintings of Versailles. Although we wished we had time to visit Versailles, we were lucky enough to secure Hugo as a guide for the Louvre. Hugo's thorough knowledge of the Louvre itself brought a unique and unexpected perspective. He took us down to the excavation site underneath the building, which was discovered during the installation of the I.M. Pei Pyramids in the 1980s. He talked about the construction and stonework and how the Seine River still makes its presence known. We were taken through to see the Venus de Milo, where he explained its construction (like Legos?) and her missing limbs. He brought us up close to Winged Victory (aka Nike) and how its wings bring balance to the statue. There were so many interesting and new viewpoints that Hugo introduced us to. My favorite was the Mona Lisa. Honestly, I was not as interested in the painting until I heard about who she was and the truth behind her smile. It was an honest and poignant explanation that touched my heart. If you want to know, hire Hugo! If you want a once-in-a-lifetime visit, spend the money and the time to engage a tour guide for the Louvre, especially Hugo. So many people mill around looking at paintings and statues mindlessly without the possibility of understanding their significance. The Louvre came to life with Hugo. Bibiana was a wonderful tour guide, very warm and friendly. She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She made the building and the art come alive for us as she customized the tour to suit our needs. She was very attentive and knew all the elevator routes in the Louvre to help minimize the amount of stairs for my dad, which was very kind. Thanks to Bibiana, my family and I had the opportunity to spend a very pleasant evening at the Louvre. Bibiana took care of buying the tickets in advance (which on our day were free and we didn't have to pay) and quickly helped us skip all the lines. We then decided together on the visit that best suited our needs considering that we only had two hours and also a teenager with us. Booked a private tour guide for the Louvre through WithLocals for our honeymoon in Paris. Such an amazing experience to see iconic works of art, but also to get to know the history and importance of these pieces. Hugo was professional and overwhelmingly knowledgeable, but made the learning experience laid back and loads of fun. His English and education is impressive to say the least! We chose to book a time slot at the Louvre on a Friday evening and had the unique experience of having the museum “nearly” all to ourselves. Hugo made sure to show us the must see exhibits as well as the historically or artistically most important works as well. He was kind enough to take photos of us throughout the tour and ensured that we had an evening to remember. This was a one of a kind experience and we highly recommend booking with Hugo. From the beginning, meeting her in the courtyard of the Louvre, she was full of energy and got us going. It was great to go the "back way" into the museum that the tour guides have access to. Fe had a set plan and route for us to see the popular and well known pieces but along the way she gave us interesting history and background of the museum and the history and development of art. She helped us understand and see the changes over time in how sculptors and artists changed their styles and forms. It felt like we got an advanced understanding of art history as part of the package. After our time was up, she also helped us get oriented to go and see other pieces that were on our list. While I like museums and the stories that art tells us through the millennia, I am no art history major and don’t know a lot. I just like learning. I usually don’t like tours. I’ve been on a few and have been very annoyed and disappointed— Until this experience. Julien had a strategy that met our goals. He was able to read us very quickly and understand how to tailor our tour with questions that made us think and build upon what we knew and don’t know. He was not pretentious yet incredibly knowledgeable, wise, and a seasoned Louvre fan! I learned about him via a friend who I trust. I, otherwise, would never have hired a private tour guide, or have joined any tour. You get what you pay for. It was AMAZING! I left with a new lense through which to view art and enjoy the museum experience without being an art history major. Hire him for your memorable Louvre experience! 🤔 I wonder if he goes to the Prado..Does the rating go to 12?

Wow ! We had an amazing time with Ali today ! We were on a 12 hour layover and we hit the ground running. Ali is beyond amazing with detail - guiding us on what train to catch into the city, where to grab a fabulous French breakfast, and where to meet him to start our sightseeing ! We travelled the city by foot and train! Although this was our third trip to Paris, he showed us sights we have never seen before. When it was time to head back to the airport, he took us to the train station and gave us instructions on getting back. He is so personable, and our day seemed to fly by. Our first trip to Paris was unforgettable, thanks to Alexia! She gave us the perfect mix of history, culture, food, and fun. From Notre Dame and the Marais to Montmartre and the Eiffel Tower. Along the way, she introduced us to amazing local treats like Maison Georges Larnicol, Ladurée, and Les Merveilleux de Fred. We also stopped for shopping along the way and having Alexia with us for language assistance made it much easier. What really stood out was Alexia’s knowledge and passion. Every stop had a story, and she made the city come alive with details we never would have found on our own. She balanced sightseeing with hidden gems and gave us time to soak in each moment, whether it was strolling through a garden, enjoying lunch in Montmartre, or taking in the rooftop view at Galeries Lafayette. She knew which shops to go into and which to avoid. This was helpful in the pastry shops! She also helped us navigate the city and the different arrondissements. We never had to look at our phones for directions! Even more, she felt more like a friend than just a guide- warm, thoughtful, and fun to spend time with. For a first-time visit, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend Alexia!1st time in Paris! Great experience!

Highly recommend Fe as a tour guide of both these amazing museums. Fe is so passionate and knowledgeable she knew her way around both museums like they were her own home and was able to give us a progressive understanding of how things changed throughout the ages. Not to mention being able to avoid all the crowds and queues taking us to the best spots and seeing things we would never have found on our own. For 3 adults with no cultural background we walked away with such a great appreciation for the art and artefacts we saw. Highly recommend Fe as she is fun and easy to talk to and had a great way of including us all which was a tough task given we had two adult males in our party who had zero artistic understanding. We had a great tour with Bibiana! To be completely honest, the Louvre is a VERY tough place to visit right now. The crowds were unbelievable. I am glad we went because I wanted my kids to experience it, but I am extremely happy we went with this private tour. I can't imagine trying to visit the museum in its current state (in terms of capacities) without an expert helping us to navigate the space. Bibiana helped us beat a few lines. She was also very patient with my son (he is 8) who was struggling with the crowds and noise. Private tours are of course pricey, but in this case we definitely found the cost to be worth it. Great tour!

My husband and my aunt both needed wheelchairs for our tour through the Louvre in Paris.
