We had the lovely Lucia show us around Venice. The kids, aged 9 & 11, put this as a top highlight of the trip. Lucia was passionate, knowledgable and kept the kids engaged in the 2.5hr tour. We adults also had fun and learnt a bit too. We added in the mask making activity at they end which they loved and allowed hubby and me to go have a appertivo sans kids - close by, which was also very nice. Lucia was the perfect guide for my 3 teenage grand daughters and myself. Her warm and friendly personality, enthusiasm and sense of humour were an instant hit. We learnt so much about the hidden side of Venice while walking around her special areas … looking for clues, spotting features & collecting information. She brought the history alive by mixing her knowledge with her sense of fun, unusual facts and a treasure hunt. Visiting a Venetian Atelier at the end of the walk and painting our own masks was magical and gave us the best souvenir to take home from Venice. From the moment we met Lucia she was friendly and very attentive to our four children. The kids had a fantastic time. Lucia had the kids really engaged with the ‘treasure hunt’ and it was clear they were having lots and lots of fun, even our 3 year old got really stuck in! - Lucia really has a natural way with children and they really enjoyed her company! The tour was really informative for the children and for us! I think without Lucia we could only enjoy the outside beauty of Venice but actually it has so many hidden gems and history which Lucia shared with us. The kids ended with an exclusive workshop session to make masks, we were comfortable to leave them with Lucia and safiyya (from the workshop) while we enjoyed some quiet time and a coffee in a nearby cafe. I would highly recommend a tour with Lucia to all friends and family visiting Venice! Lucia is definitely a Friend in Venice! The best tour we have ever had!

We took the Magical Venice tour in June. Lucia is friendly, knowledgeable and fun! She really made it a unique experience for our 9 year old niece. She shared lots of history and introduced us to talented artists. My niece made a mask at the end of the tour and it was a once in a lifetime experience! Having already visited several Italian cities throughout our holiday, I decided to book with Lucia to get an understanding of Venice on our first day in the city. All the guides on withlocals sounded great and luckily, I ended up booking a family experience with Lucia.  For the children and myself, this tour with Lucia was a highlight in Italy.  Lucia's historical knowledge was brilliant and she related interesting facts that the children  (13, 11 and 5) found relevant. She also knew all the quiet "calles" and out of the way "campos"; one of our stops had the most incredible view of the grand canal. As well as being knowledgeable, Lucia was warm and attentive and managed to keep everyone's attention engaged simultaneously. The children absolutely adored her and my 5 year old has plans to marry her in the future... The children also loved the mask making workshop with Sofia.  Sofia took such time and care with our masks; her passion and knowledge of the theatre were clear and we learned a great deal at her quaint workshop. Her work is beautiful and we really loved her studio. After braving it alone on day 2,  I tried to book another withlocals tour for day 3, but  all the experiences we wanted were unfortunately already reserved.  If we're ever in Venice again, we'd love to have Lucia as our guide. Thanks to her and Sofia, I don't think we could have had a better start to our Venetian adventure!

My family and I spent a day touring Venice, learning history, and painting masks with Lucia. It isn’t easy keeping kids entertained on a tour, but Lucia did an amazing job producing a treasure hunt and has amazing energy as well. Would highly recommend her , especially if you are on a family trip. Do the mask workshop as it kept us interactive and engaged!! Amazing day with kids in Venice!

For 3 Jewish women, this was a highlight of our trip to Venice. Lucia told the story of the ghettos and ghetto experience so personally, complete with family photos. It is necessary to tell our story, but Lucia's tour will be meaningful to non-Jewish visitors too. The experience is a first-hand view through the eyes of a Venice local. We had a great time with Lucia in the Scuola Grande San Rocco. She’s great company and hugely knowledgable. Despite having read up quite a lot before hand, we learnt lots of new things. She’s very good at interpreting the paintings as well as telling you about the history. Our sense was that she was particularly good at being able to adapt what she says to the existing knowledge of her audience, which we found really helpful. Lucia was a wonderful guide. She managed to make the visit to St Mark's and the Doge's palace highly enjoyable for all family members. We all learned a lot and had a great time. Having Lucia was a game changer for our children (ages 6 and 8): they normally lose interest in museums and picture galleries after a fairly short time, but this time they were engaged for the whole 2 hours.Lucia is the best

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our tour with Lucia. In the days leading up to the tour she shared suggestions on areas of Venice to visit, restaurants, and arranged for free private tour of a glass factory on Murano. She responded very quickly to all my questions, bought skip the line tickets well in advance, and confirmed our arrangements in advance so I wouldn’t worry. The tour itself exceeded our expectations. Her knowledge about the Basilica, Palace and history of Venice was impressive and so very interesting. Having a private tour is the way to go and trust me - you want to book in advance to make sure Lucia is available. You will be so thankful you did!Amazing Tour with Lucia!

Lucia was great telling us about the history of the Jewish ghetto and the synagogues . We got to tour 2 synagogues as well as go to an amazing artist's shop. Lucia was terrific. We had a group with a wide range of ages including kids ages 7 to 13. Her tour is set up to be engaging with children, and they stayed engaged for several hours. It was also informative for the adults. I would highly recommend her especially for families. I’d love to come back to do some of her art tours for myself - another time!Excellent kid friendly tour!

We had an incredible time learning everything about the Doge's Palace and their history. Lucia's fascinating knowledge was share in such a bright and entertaining way that our time flashed by. You can feel just how much Lucia loves her city and she imparted that love to us and our kids so that we were just as swept up in it. We had a fantastic experience with Lucia! She is an absolutely amazing tour guide who knew so much about the Jewish Ghetto. We could tell as she took us around the area how knowledgeable she was and how passionate and proud she was of this small but historic neighborhood. Our entire group were enthralled with Lucia’’s Venice biennale Collateral art venue tour! She set the stage with some important historical facts and encouraged us to see the Accademia artworks to provide a basis for the contemporary art we were about to see. We were taken to off the track places providing a range of different Biennale artworks and also venues that were special in their own right. Favourites were the art school installation and the Nigerian Pavilion. Lucia gave us some tips of venues to see beyond the tour. Lucia gave a tour from an authentically Venetian perspective and her love for the city shone through. We could not recommend her more highly!Lucia blew us away!

We had the fortune to have a private walking tour of the neighborhoods of Venice with Lucia. She was such a wonderful host and took us to some beautiful places around Venice. We had been to Venice before and seen the major sites so having the opportunity to see the neighborhoods was exactly what we wanted. We have just returned from our latest visit to our favourite city of Venice. As part of this we booked a trip with Lucia in order to explore and understand the origin and history of the Ghetto area. Our two hours with her flew by and she was able to give a much greater grasp of how and why the area was established and how it developed over the centuries. She was knowledgeable, passionate, engaging and charming and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and adding to our knowledge of Venice. She also gave us an insider tip to locate a ‘secret’ garden in Canareggio from which we were able to get a stunning view out over the lagoon on a crisp bright December day. As part of our conversation we were able to let Lucia know that one of the heroes of the Unification of Italy has a biscuit named after him in the UK…….we shall be sending some to her shortly! Lucia provided an educational and fun tour for our family (kids aged 6, 6, and 10). We’ve been on several tours as a family and this was the one the kids voted best (and now they are convinced they want to move to Venice when they are older!) Hi, this is not the first tour of the Getto with Lucia, done the same thing 2 years ago but this time with Granddaughters and I wanted them to learn as well as seethe place. They were both enthralled and as last time she has the ability to make it 3D. My husband and I spent the afternoon with an exceptional guide, Lucia, of the Jewish Ghetto in Venice. We wanted to see and learn about the real Venice during the three days we spent there in May 2023. We booked a private tour with Lucia who showed us how the Venetians live, work and move about these most wonderful mini islands. Wir haben mit Lucia einen spannenden Spaziergang durch Cannareggio und das Ghetto gemacht. Wir haben die Zeit sehr genossen und vieles Neue erfahren. Schön war der Besuch von „versteckten“ Orten, die wir ohne Lucia nie gefunden hätten. Lucia ist sehr freundlich, voller Informationen, hat sich schon im Vorfeld um uns gekümmert und z.B. This was our first experience using Withlocals and Lucia was just the BEST guide and felt like a friend showing us around her city. Lucia was very open on our communication prior to our tour at the Gallerie dell’ Accademia. She graciously accommodated our request to focus the tour on the artwork at the Accademia. She met us punctually and with an amazingly friendly greeting. She first showed us some images of Venetian artwork to describe the differences in the modern-day buildings as she described some historical information about the Accademia. She has lived in the US for a number of years and her English is perfect. Once we entered the Gallerie Lucia’s extraordinary passion and vast knowledge about Venetian art, culture and history became apparent instantly. She had meticulously planned the sequence of paintings and artwork to view with us. She pointed out many aspects and details in the paintings while she provided an in-depth commentary about the painter and their art. Lucia has a strong connection with the Venetian art and brings it to life. Lucia was very willing to answer any question that we had. She kept the pace of the tour coordinated with our desires. The 2.5 hours in the Gallerie was an amazing experience and we are so grateful to Lucia for becoming a friend while she shared her knowledge as we explored the art collection with her.
