Nino was a fantastic guide and gave a dollop of history and a full serving of food. He took us to several places that we wouldn't have found on our own and, as another reviewer said, took us to a place with the easily best mozzarella we've ever had. We also learned a lot about Neapolitan cuisine. I can't recommend it highly enough; you'll really enjoy your time walking, talking, and eating with Nino as your guide!The best food tour we've ever been on!

I’ve been looking forward to experiencing Pompeii for my entire life. Raf met and exceeded all our expectations. We booked a private transport from Sorrento, tour of Pompeii, lunch at a local winery, and subsequent tour of Herculaneum. We started with a pick up that was slightly delayed due to a traffic accident, but everyone worked with us, communicating multiple times to adjust our tours and lunch reservations. Raf had our tickets and we breezed through the line easily. He began our tour like a story teller, making certain we understood both the significance of the site and the history of the surrounding region. It was clear from the onset that Raf not only had a wealth of information to impart but was passionate about his subject. He answered all of our questions thoughtfully and expounded on several areas we were interested in. My only complaint was that that we only had two hours to explore, we certainly needed two weeks and will be back!! The frescos, shops, fountains, stepping stones, orchards, and gardens were just other worldly to see. Raf really brought the previously bustling city to life for us. Lunch was incredible with food and wine from the local winery. The founders grandson took care of us and was happy to tell us the history of the winery as well as the significance of each bottle we tasted. Raf then took us to Herculaneum for a continued picture of the time period of the Vesuvius eruption. Again his compassion and humanity were prominent in his tour. He spoke with care and reverence of the people who perished and who might have survived. Showing us delicate mosaics, architecture, and other Roman creations like sloped roads and areas for baths, shops, and private gardens. The entire day was truly once in a lifetime. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area! The most amazing day!

It was a pleasure to tour Herculaneum in Ercolano with Raffaele. Though it was certainly while discussing a somber topic, the time with Raffaele was informative and entertaining as he returned us to 79 CE while walking us through the Roman-era resort. So many details were pointed out, such as the uses of the various buildings, the day-to-day living of the occupants, and even the ways that the architecture was designed for easy living. I recommend this Herculaneum or any tour with Raffaele. He knows the information, and knows how to lead a tour in an engaging fashion. Learned and Laughed (some) at Herculaneum

We had the pleasure of experiencing a 10 tasting tour with Nino in Naples. It was full in terms of history and food and stories with many stops. Raffaele was a wonderful guide. He was flexible and easy to communicate with in the planning stages. He met us promptly at the meeting point. Unfortunately there were 5 cruise ships in Naples port, but he made us feel like we were there with just our group. He navigated the ruins like a pro. What a wonderful tour of this great sight. Raffaele was an excellent guide who made sense of what we were seeing. He imparted his knowledge in an interesting way and bought Pompeii to life for us. We felt overwhelmed by the site at first but soon began to understand the layout of the buildings. By the time we visited Herculaneum the next day with Raffaele, we were becoming experts in architectural features! He has a lovely way and was very caring with my husband who has sight issues. Where do I start? Nino was an amazing tour guide. We picked him because in his bio he said he was a foodie and boy did he deliver. Naples was a busy city with tons of places to eat. Nino took us to all the small places we would have never stopped in. We ate the best “Real” Italian mozzarella of our lives. Not sure I will ever see mozzarella the same again after eating such an amazing cheese. There is so much more I could say but this review would be pages long. We’ve been to a lot of food tours over several different countries. Naples had the best food we’ve ever had hands down. Book Nino you will not be disappointed. The best food tour we’ve had

We truly loved our time with Raffaele. I doubt we would have even made it into the site without him as the entrance was total chaos on the day we went and his advance purchase of the tickets and navigation of the entry point made it so much easier. Having a private tour guide really made the experience most enriching and much better than being in a large impersonal tour group. His archeological background and intimate knowledge of the site from having worked at the digs provided invaluable depth and insight into the history of Pompeii and the lives of its unfortunate inhabitants. We were able to experience the most important areas of this immense site in the short two hours we spent with him. His tour was the highlight of visit to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. It was well worth the cost. If you plan on visiting Pompeii, do yourself a favor and try to book Raffaele! The absolute best way to see Pompeii

We booked a 1.5 hour walking tour with Serena as the very first thing we were doing once we arrived in Napoli to begin to get oriented. I loved working with Serena and withlocals.com because we were able to communicate with Serena in advance and ask any questions and tailor what we would do with her based on our interests and needs. I did the tour with my 11 year old so I wanted to make sure it would be interesting and fun for both of us. Raf was great. He thoroughly engaged us as a family of four, including our two girls of 14 and 11. He communicated well when booking via WithLocals and in preparation/on the day for meeting up! He was not patronising at all and taught us all so much and we knew a bit before visiting. He was keen to answer all our questions and the 3 hour tour was perfectly broken with chances to sit and talk rather than constant walking/talking. Also took us to Villa dei Mystiere as we had the Plus tickets. He seemed to enjoy that as much as we did! Serena met us at the bus station and took us to Pompeii & Herculaneum on a rainy cold day. Despite the poor weather, her energy and enthusiasm were boundless and we put in a lot of steps that day. Those steps included walking to all the hot spots and new excavations in Pompeii and all the hidden details/gems in Herculaneum. Her explanations of the details was what made the tour so interesting. Raffaele was fantastic. We did a day trip from Rome with my husband and 2 kids (13 and 15). Unfortunately both kids were a bit unwell on the day, however, they still loved their Pompeii experience, largely due to the information and insights shared by Raffaele. He was friendly, easy to understand and able to answer any questions without hesitation. He is very passionate about the Pompeii site and the discoveries there. It was very busy on the day we were there, however, it did not bother us at all as Raffaele was able to take us on routes that were not overrun with people. Rafaello described the history, life and times of Pompeii in a way that showed not just the remarkable ingenuity of Roman society, but also the awful tragedy that happened there. It was completely fascinating. On a practical note he was clever at avoiding the crowds and finding somewhere quiet so that we could all hear him. Our family group of 3 had a fabulous learning experience with Serena visiting Pompeii. Her extensive knowledge of the history of Pompeii is obvious along with her passion for sharing it.
