We had a fab walking tour with Hieu! He is very knowledgable and super lovely to chat with as we wondered the streets and markets in District 3. Visiting the old communist flats where locals live was charming. We wondered thru a local wet market and tried 3 different types of coffees: cafe muoi, cafe chanh & cafe sua da! Also checked out a hidden weapons bunker! All in a lovely few hours spent off the typical tourist path. Highly recommend taking a tour with Hieu! Huyen was wonderful. We can’t thank her enough for showing us around. We were a group of three . We had grandma , mum and daughter. The little girl in our group was only 4 years old so quickly ran out of walking legs. 😀 Huyen adjusted our program so we could catch a bus to the Temple instead of walking there . So thoughtful of her . She was full of information about Vietnam and showed us things we wouldn’t have seen on our own. We had a great morning . Thank you Huyen so much . Huyen was a lovely host sharing history and recent developments of chinatown area. The bus rides were a nice touch as one may not be familiar navigating if not guided. A quick stop for banh mi was flavourful and didn’t disappoint. A great start to our first day to HCM.

We had an entertaining tour full of information. We took the bus to Chinatown together and visited a few touristy places, but also very quiet spots without many tourists. Thien was able to answer all our questions and had additional stories to tell on many topics. Her perfect English and clear pronunciation were great, so we were able to understand everything easily. Although we met friends of hers, we weren't asked to buy anything or give a tip anywhere. Her cheerful manner also made the tour a great experience for the children. We give our full recommendation. Huyen was extremely nice and very funny. She made us laugh and laugh the entire time and was very knowledgeable about everything. She even taught us some proper Vietnamese etiquette for public transit and even helped us be less accidentally offensive with our attempts at speaking Vietnamese. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our tour due to complications with our Viking cruise schedule changes. My wife and I selected this tour to follow (the next day) the more extensive HMC tour. It was an excellent addition, no overlap with the first tour, and experiences that would be pretty difficult for us to do with Thien. Jecky guided us by public coach to "China Town" in Ho Chi Minh. He was prompt in time waiting for us and asked if we had special wishes. We are not the youngest people anymore so we told him not to long walks. He showed us interesting pagoda's and wanted to bring us to the flowermarket what we didn't do because we were very tired and were not yet used to the high temperatures. We had a fantastic tour with Hieu. His English is very easy to understand, and he was truly a great storyteller. We gained insight into different areas and history and got to experience a lot of local culture as well. He is kind, friendly, and very attentive. Unfortunately, two members of our family had suffered from food poisoning in the days prior, and Hieu was incredibly considerate and accommodating. This tour opened our eyes to all that Vietnam has to offer beyond the usual tourist spots—things we would never have discovered on our own. We had a great morning with Hieu who took us to far flung districts away from the usual tourist places. The second oldest coffee shop where we learned how to make traditional coffee was really special. And, the communist apartment blocks were interesting. Hieu was knowledgeable, friendly and really took joy is showing us his city. He even gave us suggestions for a delightful lunch spot and places to visit after leaving him. Sie zeigte mir die Highlights von Ho Chi Minh City und ging auch auf meine Fragen und Wünsche ein. Huyen ist sehr gesprächig, erzählt sehr viel über die Geschichte und das Leben der Menschen in Ho Chi Minh City. Bei der Off the Beaten Track fuhren wir mit dem lokalen Bus in einen anderen Distrikt und besuchten unter anderem zwei Märkte. Es war sehr interessant zu sehen wie in Ho Chi Minh City Geschäfte gemacht werden und Handel getrieben wird. Durch Huyen habe ich sehr viel über die Menschen und Kultur von Vietnam gelernt. We went on a trip with Hieu to places that are far from tourist attractions of HCMC. It was soooo nice to wonder around small streets of the district inhabited only by the locals. Hieu showed us places we wouldn’t ’ venture to on our own. And we had a chance to understand the history of those places, the ways locals go on with their lives. We tried local specialties and got to chat a bit with Unties, the stall owners. It was an incredible trip! Hieu proved himself a guide that is well informed, well organised and very nice to talk to. Great off-the-beaten-path experience!

We usually prefer to explore on our own rather than taking guided tours, but in Saigon, we felt it was essential to dive deeper into the local people, customs, beliefs, way of life, and the complex history of the city. I am a solo traveler. I had already explored most of the touristy places in the city by myself so that I wanted to explore some places where only the locals know. She took me to Chinatown(we took a bus there! Very fun experience for me as a tourist), we walked around and visited a few temples then a few markets as well. Thien let me feel the local vibes and experience the lively atmosphere there. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions during the tour. She teaches a lot of things which you cannot know by searching online. I learned many things about Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
