Having worked in the travel industry, I've done thousands of walking tours, but I have to say that Ihor was fabulous and we all loved our time with him. Not only was he informative, but he was also kind, thoughtful, and interesting - plus he showed us things we'd never seen, and we had all been to Oslo many times over the past 20-30 years. He planned a route that was great for all 4 of us, including my 92-year old mother, and even my stepfather was impressed - and he's worked in travel since the 1970s! So well done! Thank you!! Based upon the other reviews, we think that maybe Tanya Lisa was having an off day. She was nice to meet up with us at our hotel, which saved us time in getting to the starting point. While she was good at pointing things out to us as we walked around, she didn’t have a plan for the tour and it seemed a bit haphazard. We’ve gone on several Withlocals walking tours and the best ones are those where we are shown the city and given some insight, history and background. Oslo Walking Tour

I arranged this tour for a group of four of us - having very high expectations based on my previous “With Locals” experience. Rodrigo managed to exceed those expectations because of his warmth, his wide range of experiences throughout the world, his knowledge of history and its implications as well as being well versed in current events. Rodrigo was very flexible and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about places of interest. Prior to visiting Oslo, I knew wanted to see Vigeland Park. Rodrigo was the perfect person to introduce us to this artistic marvel as he has a passion for its vision, the artist and the meaning to humanity. No brochure would have been the same. We also toured neighborhoods, stopping a small cafe, allowing us to get a feel for the daily lives of Norweigans. As a life long educator, I was especially interested in Norway’s progressive and sound policies on parental leave and support for education. We (Americans) could learn a lot from your example. All in all, this was a tremendous tour. If someone is new to With Locals they might question the value. I can assure anyone that it is well worth the price and Rodrigo was outstanding. Marcela met us at our hotel in Oslo, where she arrived 10 minutes before the agreed upon time. Wonderful! We had a little chat, and set our expectations on what we wanted to see, and what she really wanted us to have seen. Very nice! During the tour we received detailed information about the history of Oslo, as well as about the current situation and living standards. The friendliness, fun and joy she expresses when guiding you around, is extraordinary. We strongly recommend everyone to give it a try. It's the best way to see the city, and learn about it in a pleasant way.Almost a walking encyclopedia...

Tanya Lisa has a decidedly local perspective on all things Norway and Oslo. We enjoyed a special hangout for a coffee where se shared local chocolate, brown cheese and bread. The decor was amazing, a quite place to reflect and view many photos of Oslo from years past. We shared two types of "hot dogs" on flat bread (?), gratefully *not* buns we'd seen elsewhere. We were also were taken to an exceptional fish and meat store on the waterfront. There the owner gave us several different slices of sausages and salmon to enjoy, describing each with the family care put into the preparation of each. A true delight of senses, both visual and taste. Tanya, was perhaps a bit too enthusiastic, walking and talking quickly, but then again she offered many times to slow, we just couldn't because we were very interested in everything she had to say about the local foods, history, and culture. Be prepared to walk 6+ miles with her, she's a real dynamo!Great day of tasting and learning

Rodrigo was a friendly, easy-going guide. His in-depth knowledge of the history of the city and its architecture was a great starting point, but where he shone was walking us around some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Oslo. We had 2 great tours with Ihor. The city tour was informative and fascinating. He shared his knowledge of the tremendous urban planning in Oslo and had so many wonderful examples. Enjoyed getting an overall look at Oslo, along with visiting some interesting but less-known neighborhoods, and trying the local cuisine. I thought reading it that this was to be more boating, less walking but it turned out to be a fun experience walking on the islands in Oslo fjord. Tanya Lisa is a very nice person, but I think she could improve as a guide in a number of ways. Felt like if I didn’t ask questions we didn’t get a lot of information and in fact over a three hour tour she was asking me what other questions I had more than a few times, so I felt like if I didn’t ask questions I’m not sure what we would learn. When I stopped asking questions she challenged me and said what other questions do I have. Was hoping for more of a guided tour teaching us about Oslo its history and landmarks. Would’ve liked a little more structure to the tour as we had not done a lot of research on Oslo and was hoping to spend the three hours to learn as much as we could. Felt like she was trying to adapt to what we wanted, and we were looking for somebody to lead the way. Very nice person but not the best tour

Amazing food tour with Tanya Lisa!!! She came to our hotel to get us and had a fantastic walk around Oslo, stopping at local food places. Our favorite was the local seafood store and got a taste of every Norwegian seafood and meats you can think off. The owner was a great story teller with a great sense of humor. Our second favorite was a stop at Salmon with a taste of the best salmon I’ve ever had and a history and information on salmon farming. So interesting!! Tanya Lisa didn’t mind that that our time ran over and walked us back to the hotel telling us about the city as we went along. Best tour!!Best Food Tour

This tour is a very nice way to experience life like a local. As we learned during our time in Oslo, Norwegians love to be outdoors. We traveled with Tanya-Lisa for a few hours to 3 very different islands. Tanya-Lisa was a wonderful host, she explained a lot about each place, shared history with us and was even kind enough to provide Norwegian food for us to try. Enjoying our food tour with Karliss was like hanging out with an old friend swapping stories and tasting some amazing local food and drink. He introduced us to a wide variety of Norwegian delicacies which were always accompanied by a varied choice of beverages. Over the course of our evening, Karliss shared stories about his experiences traveling the world and provided some informative information about Norwegian customs and current events. Marcela was great company and beyond informative. We loved our tour and learned lots. Highlights were when she took us into two buildings (City Hall and the Library) that we would never have known to visit. We would have just walked by them. She wrapped our tour up perfectly by depositing us at a great lunch spot that we would never have found on our own. I chose Rami due to his photography experience. He knew all the best viewpoints for pictures. He modified his route to accommodate places I listed for him. We had a great time and his English was very good. He also had a good knowledge of Norway history. In addition, he had a booklet that he put together with him that he would bring out to explain certain history topics with some pictures and datelines. If you are interested in photography, he is the guide to book. Even if you aren't all that interested in photography, I would still highly recommend him.wonderful time

Tanya knew all the good locations and gave us many recommendations on food during our stay. All of the recommendations we tried were great. She changed the meeting place to our hotel which made things easier for us. We had good communication before the event and her English was very good during the event. She knew a lot of people and places and the few locations with authentic Norwegian food. She was also very informative on the history of Norway. We enjoyed the event and would highly recommend her for a similar event.Great food and experience

We had a nice time with Tanya, she brought us to many different places and we got a nice variety of food to try. In a couple of places we even had the owner come over and answer questions. Only minor issue would be the amount of walking but I think this was self induced as she made some route changes to show use what we asked to see. Overall a nice mix of food and history NIce tour with some flexibility

Ihor was a fabulous guide and adapted the tour to our needs and tastes of the group which included 1 vegetarian, 3 octogenarians, and at least one flighty one. He kept us together and provided some really cool insights to Oslo as well as the food that I had no idea existed. (Not giving it away, you'll have to take the tour yourself.) I highly recommend this tour if you have some time in Oslo. Ihor was an awesome guide as well. We really enjoyed our 3 hour walk around Oslo with Marcela. It was clear that she knew the city but she also talked about the culture, living in Norway, problems and politics so we had a real insight into the city. And Marcela is delightful company.
