From the moment we arrived, Isabel made us feel right at home and comfortable. Dinner at Isabel's was a truly wonderful experience. After a week eating in (often wonderful) Lisbon restaurants, it was such a treat to be entertained in Isabel’s home. Her cooking is wonderful, her personality delightful, and she made us feel comfortable from the moment she called out to us from her little balcony (which we got to stand on and look out from ourselves). Dinner with Isabel was a wonderful experience. She welcomed us for the evening and we felt instantly comfortable. We had three courses, plus dessert and wine. Isabel has stories to tell and you want to hear them. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about our evening: the food, the wine, and especially the company. We were served four courses of authentic food which was explained in detail and the three (plus) hours zipped by. I was in Lisbon 4 weeks ago, and although I'm an experienced traveler, it was my first experience with private dinner, and I was a bit apprehensive. But when I arrived, Isabel was so warm and welcoming, it felt like a meeting a friend. Isabel is an amazing host, and Chico is a lovely and well-behaved dog. Her apartment is cozy and inviting, with great art... Food and wine were plentiful, three course meal with multiple dishes for each course and every dish was made with love and care, everything was so delicious! It felt very special to have homemade traditional food, made for me by Isabel, I asked for recipes and definitely will make some dishes at home. It was my birthday and Isabel made it extra special with birthday candles and celebration. Conversation flowed and we talked about everything-life experiences, culture, travel, family, current events... we laughed a lot, and I learned a lot about Portugal's history, culture, life in Portugal, got a lot of recommendations for future visits. At the end of the evening, I felt that it was not just a dinner, but a wonderful connection with an amazing person! It was a highlight of my trip to Lisbon and will definitely do it again. My best friend and I arrived in Lisbon and the same night had dinner with Isabel. Immediately when you walk in, you feel the comfort and warmth that Isabel provides. She is kind, funny, and makes the most delicious food! We enjoyed traditional food from her hometown - she truly puts so much heart and effort into the food she makes. Her dog, Chico often stole the show with his cute personality. We are huge dog lovers, so being able to snuggle a dog during our trip was such a highlight. This was my first dinner with a local but it won’t be my last. My sister and I spent a night with Isabella that was perfect in every way. Her culinary skills are amazing! We had so much food and everything was excellent. The wine she served was also excellent. Our conversation crossed many topics; there was never a dull moment.
